The filmmaking duo Danny and Michael Philippou, known for their successful horror movies, Bring Her Back, and their debut Talk to Me, have been shooting a deathmatch documentary between the filming of those two films. The documentary is set to release sometime this year by A24 studios.
GCW owner Brett Lauderdale recently spoke on the documentary after receiving an early look into the film.
“This documentary is going much further than anyone imagined and it is going to blow people away. It shows indie wrestling in a diff light and will change the way you look at deathmatch wrestlers. Can not wait to see the finished version and cant wait for these stories to be told.”
In September of last year, Michael Philippou himself competed in a deathmatch in Mexico alongside Ciclope, Miedo Extremo and Rina Yamashita for the upcoming film.
There’s no release date for the documentary as of yet, but we will keep you updated on any news regarding the film.
