Girl Fight is a promotion that started in 2015 and provided a space for a lot of young female wrestlers, especially ones out of the Midwest. It has been inactive for the past few years, so Billie Starkz and her mother Rebecca Bridget, decided to take over and give the new generation of women a place to show their skills.
The first Girl Fight Event under Billie Starkz was “Your Lost Valentine” and it took place on February 15 at Our Lady of Perpetual Hops in New Albany, Indiana. It just premiered on IWTV and is available anytime on-demand.Â
The first match is Indiana native, Rachel Armstrong against the AEW superstar Maya World. This is a first time match between two of the best young athletes in wrestling. Rachel hits a big dive and the crowd is on fire. Maya has the power advantage and looks to slow down the match. Maya shows that she can fly too, as she hits a nice springboard into a submission. Both got some very close two counts and Maya gets her knees up on Rachel’s 450 attempt, then hits her with a running knee for the win. This was an opening match that could have been a main event.
A fatal four way between Emily Jaye, Lili Ruiz, Allie Albright and the Girl Fight Champion, Billie Starkz is up next. Billie is surely the measuring stick in this match, not only being the champion, but also being a ROH superstar. Don’t let the dance moves distract you, because Lili is impressive everywhere that she goes. Emily Jaye has become a fierce, hard hitting competitor recently, and lays in some shots on Billie before Billie gives her a suplex. Allie is just trying to get everyone to be her friend, which is not working out for her. Billie catches Emily in a rana attempt and hits her with a tombstone piledriver for the win.
Former TNA star and all around bad ass Killer Kelly faces off against one of the newest TNA Knockouts, Jada Stone. Girl Fight is putting together some really interesting matchups in their return show. Kelly starts off the match very aggressive. You never know what you are going to get with Killer Kelly and she will always use that to her advantage. Jada uses her athleticism to get her back in the match and we have a really fun clash of styles. Jada is able to catch Kelly off guard with a handspring stunner and pick up the win.
In the first tag team match of the show we have The Collab, Shazza McKenzie and the WWEID Champion, Laynie Luck take on Pretty Empowered, Kenzie Paige and Kylie Alexa. Pretty Empowered are very loud and seem to be in a very bad mood for some reason. The Collab work very well as a team, but Pretty Empowered are sisters and have been together for their whole lives, so they are a little bit more in sync. Pretty Empowered get the win when Kylie pins Shazza. This was a really fun tag team match. Pretty Empowered was so entertaining, even if a bit annoying.
One of the most powerful wrestlers to come out of the Midwest, Ashlyn Alexander takes on possibly one of the most technically sound wrestlers on the show in Rachael Ellering. Rachael can’t seem to take Ashlyn down, as Ashlyn is like a little tank. You can see Rachael try to figure out another plan of attack, and she goes with a series of forearms and multiple sentons. Ashlyn is such an entertaining powerhouse, like an early Samoa Joe or Yuu. I am really enjoying watching these two powerful women throw everything they have at each other. Rachael gets the win as she rips at Ashlyn’s arm and forces her to tap out.Â
It is now time for our main event as Vert Vixen takes on the ROH Women’s Champion Athena, with her minion, Billie Starkz at her side. Athena is one of the best wrestlers in the world right now and may have some of her matches won before the bell rings with the way she messes with people’s heads. That is not the case with Vert. Both of these wrestlers are great strikers, but also excellent at submissions. Athena does not get the count that she wants from the ref, so she punches her in the face and seems very happy about it. This fight is going back and forth and is really incredible. Athena hits Vert with a big forearm and falls on Vert for the win.
This was an incredible show from top to bottom, there was really no bad match. Every match could be a main event at most indie promotions across the country. Everyone brought everything that they had to their matches and it really showed. I would really recommend watching this event on IWTV and getting tickets for their next event “Spill the Tea” on May 31.
