From Friday, March 13th, through Sunday, March 15th, independent wrestling was on full display in North America. Championships were retained, championships were won, and we saw a fantastic match between two of the top women in the northeast, and a dream six-man tag. From the likes of Blitzkrieg! Pro, Focus Pro, Game Changer Wrestling, & C4 Wrestling, here are five must-see matches that any fan of professional wrestling should go back and check out.

5. B3CCA vs. Amity LaVey from Blitzkrieg! Pro’s “The Meanest of Times”
Kicking off the list, we saw Blitzkrieg! Pro return to Enfield, CT on Saturday, March 14th, for it’s event, “The Meanest Of Times.” While we saw a ton of great matches, including a beautiful main event which saw Charles Mason win the Bedlam Championship from Sammy Diaz, one match stood out head and shoulders above MOST of the rest. We saw B3CCA make her return to Blitzkrieg! Pro since being turned on by her former B3TJC tag team partner, TJ Crawford. In her return match, she had a very tall task in front of her as she went one-on-one with the “Horror Show,” known as Amity LaVey. B3CCA is an incredible performer, both in the ring and out. Since making her return to the ring, B3CCA is picking up right where she left off. She has the potential to be the top woman to come out of the northeast, and that’s saying something. Her potential is truly astronomical. From the moment her entrance hits to the match itself, fans are hooked. Very few people can do it as well as she can in this one. This match was a style clash, which made it that much better. On one hand, we saw a pop-star, an elaborate performer, a showman. On the other hand, we saw the dark side. The horror show, the creepy side of LaVey. Similar to B3CCA, LaVey captivates audiences like very few know how to. Her look, style, and skill leave fans in shock and awe. LaVey is someone that I’m very happy and proud to see getting booked more. From my neck of the woods on Long Island, NY, LaVey has been a mainstay at a couple of promotions here. However, as of late, we’ve seen her branch into Wrestling Open, Beyond Wrestling, and begin her takeover of the Northeast. She’s such a special talent. She deserves to be booked all over, and it’s great seeing her finally get that shot. LaVey is going to be a star in this world, and now is the time to jump on the bandwagon. Go back and check this one out on the Blitzkrieg! Pro VOD channel on IWTV.

4. Kaia McKenna vs. Sofia Sivan from Focus Pro’s “Danza Kuduro”
Next up, we saw Focus Pro Wrestling debut at the Roundhead Brewing Company in Hyde Park, MA, for it’s event, “Danza Kuduro” on Saturday night, March 14th. This was an absolutely stacked show, which saw so many great matches, including Mani Ariez put his Focus Pro Championship on the line against B-Boy in the main event, Diego Alvarez face off with Titus Alexander, and so much more. However, the match that stole the night for me was the one that saw Kaia McKenna put her Focus Pro Women’s Championship on the line against Sofia Sivan. Simply put, this may have been McKenna’s best title defense to date. McKenna has held the title for over 110 days. She first won the title back in November of last year, defeating Gypsy Mac in a ladder match. Over the next couple of months, she’s knocked off the likes of Nixi XS and Alice Crowley. However, perhaps her toughest challenge was against Sivan. Taking nothing away from Nixi XS and Alice Crowley, Sivan is an enigma. She’s still fairly new in the world of professional wrestling, and people don’t exactly know what to expect yet. With that said, she absolutely brought it in her Focus Pro Women’s Championship match. However, don’t let her being fairly new to the sport fool you. She’s already making a name for herself all over. Like Kaia McKenna, Sivan has been on All Elite Wrestling and has wrestled some of the very best on the independent scene today, including Nikki Blackheart, Nixi XS, Ruthie Jay, Fallyn Grey, and so much more. All while appearing on the likes of NOAH, Marigold, and SHINE. So, safe to say that Sivan is truly putting herself on the map in the world of professional wrestling. This was such a fun match between, in my opinion, two of the very best women on the independent scene today. The northeast is booming, especially in the way of it’s women’s wrestling scene, so this match should surprise nobody. Go back and check this one out on Focus Pro’s VOD channel on IWTV.

3. Marcus Mathers vs. Ryan O’Neill from Game Changer Wrestling’s “So Much Fun”
On Sunday, March 15th, Game Changer Wrestling returned to The Showboat in Atlantic City, NJ, for it’s event, “So Much Fun.” This was one of my personal favorite shows of the entire weekend. There was just so much great wrestling on it. However, perhaps the best match of the night was also the match that opened the show. WWE ID prospect, Marcus Mathers, went one-on-one with someone who has been making a name for themselves in GCW and all over, Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill. This was a match where both competitors truly complemented each other very well. Mathers is a WWE ID prospect, and rightfully so. He’s hands down one of the most talented youngsters around today. Mathers has been good for a long time, but just recently is finally getting to show the world just how damn good he truly is. Mathers is one of my personal favorites around today. Everything he does in the ring just looks so clean and so crisp. He oozes charisma and confidence and has shown a new, aggressive side as of late. Simply put, he’s just a joy to watch in the ring. He’s now a proven star in every sense of the word. However, O’Neill is kind of the opposite of that. He’s much, much younger, but he’s already becoming a household name for GCW fans. That’s a testament to how hard O’Neill has worked to even get to this point in the first place. He’s someone who has an abundance of potential. He is still just starting out, but the fact that GCW is already bringing him in quite often is a major plus for O’Neill. Mathers and O’Neill had some undeniable chemistry in this one. O’Neill more than held his own against someone of the stature of Mathers, and that’s a huge feather in the cap of O’Neill. It’s yet another reason that O’Neill is going to do big things in this world. This was a fantastic, can’t-miss match and the perfect way to start the show off on the right foot. Go back and check this one out anytime on TrillerTV+.

2. Ancestral City Shooters vs. Dolphin Funeral vs. East Coast Bastard Crew vs. Delta House from Blitzkrieg! Pro’s “The Meanest Of Times”
Returning to Blitzkrieg! Pro on Saturday night, we saw the vacant Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships are up for grabs in a four-way tag team match. Collectively known as the Savage Gnomes, Bear Bronson & Gabby Forza, relinquished the Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships due to scheduling issues and family issues. While this was a bummer, one team’s drop is another team’s ascension. Blitzkrieg! Pro picked the four perfect teams to fight over the vacant titles. Ancestral City Shooters, Joseph Alexander & Kwesi Asante, took part in the match and were the favorites to win the whole thing, and rightfully so. The stuff that they have been putting out there and their work together has truly been tremendous. Dolphin Funeral, JuleZee, and Rullo were also announced for the match. This is a very fun young tag team in Blitzkrieg! Pro who can hang with the best of them. That was abundantly clear in this match as they faced off with three of the other, more experienced, teams in Blitzkrieg! Pro. However, they not only held their own, but they looked like they belonged. They have a very bright future in Blitzkrieg! Pro. The third team we saw in this one was the East Coast Bastard Crew, Leary & Logan Black. I cannot say enough good things about both of these guys. They are true veterans and true professionals in every sense of the word. Leary is one of the top bookers in Blitzkrieg! Pro, and he could be like every other slimy promoter who books themselves to win all the gold. But he doesn’t. Leary is someone who can make you truly understand why they say, “Leave the wrestling world better than how you found it.” Whenever I see him in the ring at Blitzkrieg! Pro, that’s what he’s doing. He’s working with the young guns quite often and not only making them look good, but completely putting them over. That’s a very admirable and respectful thing. Much of the same can be said about Logan Black, too. Black is another veteran who has been around the block a time or two. But you can tell he really cares about this next generation and does some amazing work with them. The fourth team in this one, Delta House, is one of the most over teams in all of the northeast. People love Dante Drago and Nick Robles together. They started out as unbearable frat boys, but over time have evolved into a fan favorite team and endeared themselves to the fans. It’s been awesome to see the growth of each of them from when they first started teaming to now. This was such a great match where all eight men involved stole the show. The right team won this, in my opinion, which made it so much better. From top-to-bottom, this match and this whole show were just absolutely brilliant. I urge you to go back and check this one out on the Blitzkrieg! Pro VOD channel on IWTV.

1. Macrae Martin & Northern Thunder vs. Marcus Mathers & Bustah & The Brain from C4 Wrestling’s “A Blade In The Dark”
Coming in at number one on this list, we saw C4 Wrestling return to Ottawa on Friday night, March 13th, when they presented their big show, “A Blade In The Dark.” This show was absolutely fantastic from top-to-bottom. Junior Benito and Sheldon Jean crushed it in the main event, Alexia Nicole and Amira put on a fantastic no disqualification and no countout match in Nicole’s first-ever defense of the C4 Women’s Championship, and so much more. However, one of the most must-see matches in recent memory saw Macrae Martin team up with Northern Thunder’s London Lightning & Storm Ryder, face off with Marcus Mathers & Bustah & The Brain’s Alec Price & Jordan Oliver. This was a dream six-man tag team match. On one side, we saw three of Canada’s top up-and-coming stars. One half of Fresh Air, Macrae Martin, has been making a name for himself as a singles competitor. He and Junior Benito don’t team much anymore, but that’s not a bad thing. They’re both getting to showcase their talents in singles settings, and they are both absolutely crushing it. His teammates in this one, Northern Thunder, are one of the most exciting young tag teams in the Canadian independent scene. London Lightning & Storm Ryder have found their way as a tag team, and it’s been such a fun sight to see. They are a team with very bright futures ahead of them, and surefire C4 Tag Team Champions sooner rather than later. Across the ring from them, they had three of the absolutely best young guns in the United States around today. Marcus Mathers is just on a whole other level. He’s a WWE ID prospect, and rightfully so. He’s one of the very top talents around today and has one of the brightest futures in all of professional wrestling. His teammates in this one, Alec Price & Jordan Oliver, collectively known as Bustah & The Brain, have achieved great things as of late. They are two of All Elite Wrestling’s newest signees, and for good reason. AEW locked down two of the brightest young guns around today. Now put all of this together, and you get magic. That’s exactly what this six-man match was: magical. It made me hungry for a potential Northern Thunder vs. Bustah & The Brain match, and made me want to see Macrae Martin face off with Marcus Mathers badly. If you’re not checking out C4 Wrestling, you’re missing some of the best professional wrestling on this planet. Go back and check out their shows, they are truly can’t miss. This one is available on the C4 Wrestling VOD channel on IWTV.
