Scott’s Five Must-See Matches From 3/20 – 3/22

From Friday, March 20th, through Sunday, March 22nd, we saw a ton of great action, including a rare showing by a promotion for a huge tournament, a WWE ID Women’s Championship bout between two stars, and a mega show on Long Island, NY, featuring a generational match-up. From the likes of WWR+, Beyond Wrestling, & House Of Glory, here are five must-see matches that every fan of independent professional wrestling should go back and check out from this past weekend.

5. Corinne Joy vs. Amity LaVey from WWR+ “Tournament For Tomorrow 2026”

Kicking off this list, WWR+ kicked off a major double-header with Beyond Wrestling on Sunday afternoon, March 22nd, with their big event, “Tournament For Tomorrow.” The tournament featured a ton of great action, including an incredible finals match between Kylie Alexa and Liviyah, as well as many other standout performances. However, perhaps the best tournament match came in the first round as Corinne Joy went one-on-one with Amity LaVey. This match was a perfect blend between good and evil. On one hand, you had the energetic, happy-go-lucky, good girl, in Corinne Joy. On the other hand, you had the much scarier and much more intimidating Amity LaVey. This was the second match of the night, with only one spot set in the second round of the 2026 “Tournament For Tomorrow.” The best way to describe LaVey is a very Rosemary-esque, spooky type of vibe, and she encapsulates all of that. LaVey is a star. She is finally getting noticed, and she deserves it. I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time, even before she started working on Wrestling Open and Beyond. The talent has always been there, and it’s about damn time she gets her due. As for her opponent in this one, a lot of the same potential and talent that LaVey possesses, so does Joy. Joy is the life of the party, and their styles clash in this one was beautiful. This may have truly been the best performance I’ve ever seen from Joy, and that’s a testament to her hard work. It’s nothing short of fantastic. LaVey tried to work her way into Joy’s head to start the match, but Joy was wise to those games. LaVey is a vicious attacker when she goes on the offense, and she brought the fight to Joy. A lesser woman wouldn’t have even gotten up multiple times in this one. But Joy is not like many other women. One of my favorite moments in this match was when LaVey entered her little “Mean Girls” era and screamed at Joy, “YOU DON’T EVEN GO HERE!” This got a pop from the crowd, and rightfully so. Without spoiling too much, this was a brilliant match between two characters on very opposite sides. However, they met in the middle and made magic. Go back and check this one out, including one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, now available on the WWR+ VOD channel on IWTV.

4. Bang & Matthews (Davey Bang & August Matthews) vs. Ichiban & Brando Lee from Beyond Wrestling’s “Life And Limb”

On Sunday, we saw Beyond Wrestling return to Somerville, MA, as a part of the double-header with WWR+ for the second event of the day, “Life And Limb.” The event saw some great action and big moments, including Krule vs. BRG, Jon Gresham vs. Mercedes Martinez, and so much more. However, the standout match of the night was the one right before the main event. Bang & Matthews, Davey Bang & August Matthews, returned to Beyond Wrestling as they put their IWTV Independent Wrestling Tag Team Championships on the line against two of Beyond Wrestling’s favorite stars, Ichiban & Brando Lee. Bang & Matthews won the vacant titles back on January 1st when they knocked off former champions, Miracle Generation. Over the course of the next 80+ days, Bang & Matthews have put their titles on the line against some of the top talent on the independent scene today, including teams like Star Struck’s Anthony Greene & Channing Thomas, and The Production’s Katie Arquette & Derek Dillinger. However, they had their toughest task to date as they went toe-to-toe with Ichiban and Brando Lee on Sunday. Ichiban and Brando Lee are very similar to Bang & Matthews, with the high-flying style. So, where Bang & Matthews excelled the most, they were met by Ichiban & Lee. Bang & Matthews were booed hard from the onset of this match. They weren’t necessarily the heels, but they were, however, going up against two of the biggest fan favorites in Beyond Wrestling today. So, that spells disaster for just about anyone. This was about as high-energy, high-octane, high-speed, and high impact of a tag title match as you could have asked for. This match quickly got chaotic, and bodies were flying. The fans ate it all up. When the match was over, Bang & Matthews, who were booed heavily, were being serenaded with “PLEASE COME BACK” chants. This was a fantastic tag match that makes you tired just watching it. These two teams complemented each other very well, and that made it all that much better. Go back and check this one out on the Beyond Wrestling VOD channel on IWTV.

3. Charles Mason vs. Donovan Dijak from HOG Wrestling’s “SuperClash”

Coming in at number three on this list, House Of Glory returned to Long Island, NY, for its massive show, in conjunction with Big Event EXS, “SuperClash.” This show saw a little bit of everything, including a stellar main event between the House of Glory World Champion, Charles Mason, and the challenger for his title, Donovan Dijak. Dijak entered this one wearing the MLW Tag Team Championship belt around his waist, and carried the Limitless World Championship in one hand and the BST Championship in the other. So, he has been collecting belts on the indies like they’re candy. He had a very real shot of winning this match, but if he was going to do so, he was going to have to knock off Charles Mason, which is something that hasn’t been done in 290 days. While not always ethically, Mason has consistently found a way to win his matches, retaining his title and overcoming the likes of Mike Santana, Carlito, Man Like DeReiss, Dezmond Xavier, Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali, Rey Horus, and Bryan Keith. The two brawled in the ringside area to start the match, with Mason whipping Dijak into the guard rail. Of course, Mason used a dirty tactic to get the upper hand on the outside, but that wouldn’t last long. Mason has a new type of finisher where he uses some sort of thin wire to choke out his opponent, usually behind the referee’s back, so they can’t see him using an illegal object. The match came to a dramatic end at just over 17 minutes. The two put on an excellent match that would have been the match of the night on any other night. However, we saw a generational clash also in this one that cannot be ignored, but we’ll get to that later. This whole show was simply fantastic. Go back and check it out on TrillerTV+.

2. Laynie Luck vs. Allie Katch from WWR+ “Tournament For Tomorrow 2026”

For the second spot on this list from this past weekend, we return to WWR+’s big event, “Tournament For Tomorrow 2026,” where we witnessed a non-tournament match which saw Laynie Luck put her WWE ID Women’s Championship on the line against another one of the very top women on the independent scene today, Allie Katch. Laynie became the second-ever WWE ID Women’s Champion back in November of last year when she defeated Airica Demia, Brittnie Brooks, Notorious Mimi, Shannon LeVangie, and Tiara James in a six-way match to crown the new champion after Kylie Rae was forced to vacate the title. Over the course of her next 120+ days, Luck has knocked off the likes of Rachel Ley, Airica Demia, Ivelisse, B3CCA, Kristara, Sierra, Zoe Sager, and Mackenzie Morgan from everywhere from Illinois to Florida, to Maine, to many other states, and even Canada. However, against Katch on Sunday, she may have had her toughest challenge yet. If Luck was going to win this one and retain her title, she would have to dig down deep. In this one, Luck showed why she’s been the fighting champion that we’ve all come to know and love over one of the northeast favorites, Katch. Katch fought harder than ever for that title, and that was also on full display. They paid homage to Shawn Michaels – Ric Flair when Luck told Allie Katch, “I’m sorry, I LOVE YOU” before hitting her DVD to hopefully put Katch away. Both women threw everything they had, and then some, at each other, and fans were not disappointed. This may have been the best women’s match of the year, and one of the best professional wrestling matches of the year. Truthfully, I felt bad for Kylie Alexa and Liviyah. This match was going to be IMPOSSIBLE to follow, but they did amazing, all things considered. Go back and check out this entire show, and specifically this match on the WWR+ VOD channel on IWTV.

1. Sammy Guevara vs. Amazing Red from HOG Wrestling’s “SuperClash”

Taking the number one spot on this list, we saw what can only be described as a “dream match.” Returning to House Of Glory x Big Event EXS massive event, “SuperClash,” we witnessed arguably a match of the year candidate for House Of Glory as the founder, Amazing Red, went one-on-one with All Elite Wrestling’s Sammy Guevara. Right off the bat, one of the House of Glory announcers called this a “generational match,” and spoiler alert: he was absolutely right. Guevara came out with his two Ring of Honor belts around his waist, which only cemented how cool this match was going to be. Amazing Red is 43 years old, and he hasn’t missed a step. He truly is a timeless wonder. In the early going of this match, we witnessed one of the coolest spots I’ve ever seen live, which saw Amazing Red dive into the audience and over the guard rail into the fans, knocking out Guevara. When we got back into the ring, Guevara continued to be his cocky heel self, offering a handshake but turning it into the middle finger. This match was truly a top-tier match between one of the best of this generation and one of the best young guns for the next generation. That’s what made this such a “generational” match. They complemented each other so well. Wrestling is all about chemistry, and to say these two had chemistry would be the understatement of the century. Their chemistry was truly off the charts. These two went on for nearly 20-minutes before a decision was made. From the ring of the first bell to the ring of the final bell, this match was 100 miles per hour. While Guevara is certainly much younger, Red more than kept up; he excelled. This was such a special match between two of the best high-flyers around today. While Red may be closer to the end of his career than Guevara, you wouldn’t know that by watching this match. This match from top-to-bottom was simply insane, and perhaps was one of the best matches I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing live. The icing on the cake came after the match when Guevara got on the microphone, kept his heel moniker going, but still somehow gave Amazing Red his flowers.
