Interview: Devious Cass Talks The Dungeon, Upcoming Matches with Marcus Mathers and Sammy Diaz, Canadian Debut, Blitzkrieg! Pro, and More

In PWPonderings’ latest exclusive interview, Scott Mitchell (@Scott44Mitchell) sits down with Devious Cass (@DeviousCass) to discuss training with Nattie Neidhart at the Dungeon, his upcoming match with Marcus Mathers at ETU, his Canadian debut in Greektown Wrestling on Friday night, and his upcoming match with Sammy Diaz at Blitzkrieg! Pro, Focus Pro, his goals, opponents he’d like to share the ring with, his dream opponent, and more. Watch it in its entirety down below.

You shared on X not too long ago that you took part in a training class with Nattie Neidhart at The Dungeon. We saw Swerve Strickland, Angelo Dawkins, Ilja Dragunov, Tyson Kidd, Montez Ford, and Jacob Fatu were all in attendance. What was this experience like for you?

“It’s such a learning experience, and I learned so much going to the Dungeon. It really is a blessing to be there. It’s a blessing to learn from them because they are one of the best. I love everyone who’s there. They welcome you like you’re a regular person because, at the end of the day, we’re all regular people. It’s just so much more advanced learning that you get from them, and it’s just knowing that you’re in the presence of all these other people who are higher than you, and you’re working with them, learning from them, and you’re getting taught by them. It’s just a special experience that you’d just have to be there to understand. I’m so grateful to be there, truly.”

What advice did you learn from Natalya or from anyone at The Dungeon that you will be able to take with you forever?

“I know this is going to sound cringey, and it’s going to sound like everyone else says it, but I’m going to say it because it’s what I keep with me. Everyone tells me, TJ, Natty, these higher people, just to keep going. Don’t stop, don’t settle for less. Just because there’s an obstacle in your way, or just because something is not working out right now, just keep going, because at the end of the day, if you want this as bad as you do, whatever it is in life, in life period, just keep going. At the end of the day, you’re going to be successful because you have a path that you’re going to take, and everyone’s path is different. I’m not knocking anyone off, because everyone can get there in one day, a month, a year. It takes them as long as possible. The one thing that I do take, and I know it’s cringey because everyone says it, but it’s just to keep going. Keep going, keep doing what you’re doing. Sometime, somehow, some way, it’s all going to work out.”

Let’s jump right into it. This Sunday at ETU, you will be facing off with one of your very close friends, Marcus Mathers. What is your mindset heading into this one?

“It’s hard, man. He is a great friend of mine. But my mindset going into this is to show everyone that I’m not an 18-year-old anymore. I’m a young grown man who’s trying to make a statement in this indie wrestling world. If that means I have to go against the top guys, even though he’s one of my friends, in the ring, we won’t be friends, to me at least. That’s my mindset going into it. There aren’t going to be friends. There’s no playing around. I’m here to wrestle. If that means I have to get into the ring and really give it to him to understand that, I want to show everyone else that just like him, just because he’s my friend, doesn’t mean I’m a kid anymore, or that I’m anyone else or anything different than what I used to be. So, I think this is a really big opportunity for me to showcase that. I’m sorry to Marcus, but I have to prove something, and this is the opportunity to do it because I know a lot of people will be watching… I mean, it’s a blessing to get the opportunity to do that (earn a WWE ID contract). I was blessed enough to go against Aaron Rourke as the first person to go against someone who’s ID’d, and now he’s EVOLVE Champion. Putting it into perspective, it’s a blessing to get the opportunity to go up against him. It’s something that I can put under my belt if I win against him. I just think that’s just great, and I hope that I can get eyes on myself just wrestling him. He’s under ID, so I hope that this can get me as well.”

Marcus Mathers has accomplished a lot so far, including being a WWE ID prospect. What has it been like for you to see all he has accomplished and continues to accomplish?

“I’m proud of him. He’s been working his butt off. I’m super proud of him. I truly believe that he’s up next. I’m not just saying that from a friend’s perspective, I’m saying it as a truth, I’m saying it as I see it, and how he is as a person, and how he wants it that badly. That’s where I get it from. I won’t say everything comes from my past, but he has been a big part too as well, keeping me in check and keeping me in tact with everything going on, and just telling me to keep going, keep grinding, and one day it’s going to be my turn. We both started young. We’re kind of going off the same tracks. Maybe I’m going a little bit faster than him, and a little bit better than him. But that doesn’t take anything away because he accomplished so much, and I truly see that. That’s why, at ETU, I’m going to make sure to prove a point to everyone, because I know this is a match that I can do that, and I can show everyone that I’m not that person. Just because we’re friends and just because I’m a nice person doesn’t mean I won’t be able to get my point across. I’m going to put my foot down that day. April 12th. ETU. I’m going to make sure that Marcus feels and knows that I’m not a kid anymore.”

Also, on Friday night in Toronto for Greektown Wrestling, you’ll be teaming up with Vince Valor & Karou to take on Brent Banks, Mathis Myre, & Don Freeze. What’s your mindset heading into this one?

“It’s my debut match in Canada, so I’m very excited and very happy to be there. I’m ready to make a banger man. In three-on-three, one of my good friends is on the other team, Don Freeze. He’s making his way up just like me. My mindset is to show everyone what I’m capable of and what this match could be.”

On May 2nd, you’ll be making your return to Blitzkrieg! Pro, sponsored by yours truly, is going one-on-one with the former Bedlam Champion, Sammy Diaz. What’s your mindset heading into this one?

“I mean, I have the utmost respect for Sammy. We went out for a four-way match at ETU, so I know what he’s capable of. I’ve had a glimpse of what he can do. I’m just excited. I’m so excited to have this match. I feel like having these types of matches in singles is just going to keep bumping me up in these singles matches to show people I can hang with these guys. He can be hungrier than I, but at the end of the day, I’m just as hungry as him. I don’t have to win any belts to show him that. He sees it from the drives that I take. He sees it from the matches I have, and he sees it from every promotion that I debut in. So, I’m going into this match as I’m just as hungry as him, and I’m ready. I’m ready to go against him.”

What has it been like for you to be a part of the Blitzkrieg! Pro roster?

“It’s so awesome being in these promotions. I’m starting to realize, starting to get into these promotions, I am so grateful, like truly, to just be there. They have such a great roster, such a great fanbase. A lot of these promotions do, but especially Blitzkrieg! Pro. They’re giving me the opportunity to wrestle there, singles, against one of their former champions. It’s awesome. It is awesome. Especially, I’m 18, and I’m just on the road and on the ride of wrestling right now. And this is awesome to have the experience of being in these environments. It’s so awesome to be a part of Blitzkrieg.”

You had, in my opinion, a legitimate match of the year candidate in Focus Pro when you faced off with Post Game in a tag match last February. What was this like?

“Post Game is a great tag team. They’re super underrated. They should definitely get some more opportunities sooner rather than later because they are a great tag team. But Leroy and I, we don’t have that much chemistry with each other outside of Focus Pro, but we kind of just clicked. We’re two young, hungry individuals. Going against Post Game for the championships, I take that with pride, knowing that we’re going against their top tag team. I’ve been on a couple of shows with Focus Pro. They’re a great promotion. I’d love to come back. They’re amazing. Going against those guys, our mindsets were to win. We knew that we had the advantage. We’re younger. We want it more, and we have all the right ability to do that. It’s a top match, and that’s what we wanted to show. We wanted to show that we can run with these guys. If that means that you have to bring us against one of your top tag teams, you have to bring me against one of your top championships, we’re going to make sure we put a match on for you because that’s what you came to see.”

Looking ahead for you, what are your goals for 2026 and beyond?

“So, I like to take it as little goals, and then there’s the big goal. My big goal has always been to main event WrestleMania in the WWE. My small goals, which aren’t small, but their milestones to get there. In 2026, I’d love to get WWE ID’d. That is my 2026 goal. I know I’m young and know I’m just starting to scratch the surface of everyone noticing me. But I have the right tools, the right body, and the right mindset to become a WWE ID student, a WWE ID prospect. That is my main goal. If that means I have to keep doing what I’m doing, then that’s what it’s going to have to take. My main 2026 goal is to make it to WWE ID. After that, I’ll be in the right direction to where I want to go. That’s my goal for 2026.”

Do you have anyone you’d still really like to share the ring with?

“This is hard. I just would love to go against all these independent talents. I’ve never gotten in the ring with Anthony Greene, but I’d love to have a one-on-one with him. I would love to have another one-on-one with Ryan Clancy, another good friend of mine. There are so many people I can say, who I’ve already been in the ring with. But there are so many other independent wrestlers with whom I haven’t been in the ring. I finally get the chance to go against Marcus. I’d love to go against Starboy Charlie. I’d love to go against Titus Alexander. It’s just so many guys that I’d love to be in the ring with and be on a bigger platform for people to see what these matches could be. A couple of those guys, I would love to be in the ring with.”

What’s your ultimate dream match?

“So, I have two. But I will name one. I think this is a person I would have an amazing match with, even if the way that I’m developing and hopefully when I get to my prime, I’d love to have this match with him. But, I think, Will Ospreay would be my guy that I’d love to wrestle as my dream match. I just think he’s such a master at this. He’s a master student of this game, and I just think that with his matches, I’d love to have a match with him. That is my ultimate dream match, if it could happen.”
