Interview: Dreya Mitchell Talks Canadian Independent Scene, C4 Wrestling, Billie Starkz, Limitless Wrestling, Jada Stone, and More

In PWPonderings’ latest exclusive interview, Dreya Mitchell (@_dreyamitchell) sits down to talk with Scott Mitchell (@Scott44Mitchell) about how she got her start in wrestling, the Canadian independent wrestling scene, C4 Wrestling, her upcoming matches with Billie Starkz and Jada Stone, her Limitless Wrestling debut, her United States debut, and more.

What’s your opinion on the Canadian independent scene? It seems like there’s so much talent up there that we don’t get the pleasure of seeing it in the United States a lot.

“I watch a lot of independents, especially in New England and the Northeast, but being in the Canadian scene, especially up here, like in Montreal, Ontario, I’m very proud of the work we do. It’s not as mainstream indie-wise as we’d like it to be. But I can see that once people get into it, they really see what Canadian wrestling is all about. But I’m really happy I’m from this area and have gotten the opportunities I have so far. I think it’s a very nice time for Canadian wrestling, right now.”

We can sit here for hours and talk about your career, but let’s talk about this weekend. Kicking things off on Thursday at C4 Wrestling, you’ll be facing off with Billie Starkz. What’s your mindset heading into this one?

“I’ll be honest, when the match was announced, it definitely caught me off guard. Not in the fact that I wasn’t ready for it, I’m definitely open to challenges, but it’s not a match I would ever expect to have right now. I’m very happy I have it, I’m ecstatic. But I’m very ready to face off against Billie. I think she’s younger than me, and she’s lived a life in wrestling, which is so incredible to have seen. I’m just excited to get in there with her and see how she works and how I measure up, because the place in my career right now is where my main focus is, just going up against people who are better than me. Getting the chance to do that tomorrow against someone who’s better than me and someone so big is very, very awesome. I’m definitely ready for the challenge. I’m excited.”

Seeing everything Billie has accomplished, does this add anything to this one for you?

“In a sense, yes, because obviously she’s traveling all over, and currently I’m not, which I just started, so it’s very normal. But, for her to come to our area, Ottawa, Quebec, whatever, and for me to have that match, I’m going into very laser-focused on, I don’t want her to stoop down to my level, not that I suck, I don’t think I do, but I really want to rise to hers because she’s on another level. I just want to be able to showcase that I can hang. That’s my main focus.”

You have become a bit of a mainstay at C4. What does it mean to you to be a part of that locker room?

“Honestly, at times, it’s a little surreal. Not in a fan-out way, but more in a way of, sometimes I feel like ‘Hey, I belong here, I can measure up,’ but sometimes I feel like, ‘What the hell, why am I here?’ That locker room is just so stacked with people who are just so awesome. I used to set up, help out, and do security at C4, and there was a time when I could never wrestle here; the level is just something I couldn’t think of achieving at that moment. Once I got in on that roster, it’s just really an honor. C4 has been around for, I think, over 15 years, and it has such a rich, deep history. For me to have a tiny little part of it is super cool. I’m very happy to be able to be there.”

C4 is adding a Women’s Championship soon. What are your thoughts on how far the women’s division has come in C4, and what were your thoughts when you found this out about the Women’s Championship?

“I was at the show when they announced it. I made sure to go out, because I wasn’t sure what the announcement was, but I had a hunch, but when it was announced I was yelling because I was like, I don’t even care who wins, just the fact that now there’s enough women not only at C4 but all over in the area for us to have a Women’s Championship at C4 to give us something more to fight for there, it’s always nice to see that people care about women’s wrestling. There was a time when that wasn’t the case. So, just seeing that put into action is very heart-warming, and it’s nice.”

Do you have any favorite memories from C4 or any matches that really stand out to you that you took part in?

“I have one that, in a way, is my favorite one, not necessarily performance-wise, but just what went into the match. It was March of last year, and it was me versus Leah Sparks. It was about two weeks after the first women’s show, and that match was thrown together at the very last minute. It was both of our first times doing a singles match on the main card at C4, which was a big deal for us because we were both under three years in. To this day, it’s one of my favorite matches that I’ve ever wrestled. We knew that on the way to C4, maybe like an hour out, that we would get this match because there was a cancellation. So, just the fact that we were able to throw this together in such a short time and knowing we did well and having people tell us we did well, confirming that, was very nice. That match is definitely. If you ask me about C4, I’ll definitely always talk about that one, or the Steel Cage match from last June. That was my first Steel Cage match ever. It was Vaughn Vertigo and me versus Alexia Nicole and Gabriel Fuerza. Working with them has definitely unlocked something in my brain. I call them ‘Toronto’s Big Three,’ because they’re definitely three of the best out there. So, being able to mix it up with them in a Steel Cage match was really awesome. Those two matches are my favorite ones when it comes to C4.”

At the last show, you teamed up with Haley Dylan, Jonny DeLuca, & Kacey Diamond to face off with Alexia Nicole, Kevin Blackwood, Kristara, and Leah Sparks. This was a major match with some of the best in C4, and thankfully, your team got the win. What did that mean to you?

“It meant a little bit more once we got there. Especially because it was my first time working with Kevin Blackwood, and that show was also his last show in Canada, before his hiatus. It was more special. It didn’t really click when the match was announced for me, but when we got there, I was just like ‘Oh shit, I get to work with Kevin Blackwood.’ In an eight-person tag, there are so many people, you might not get to feel out everybody, but the fact that I specifically got to work one-on-one with him was very special. Everyone in that match, it was my first time tagging with Haley, she’s great. I like her very much. But I love a good eight-man. I’ve done many of them, but that one was definitely one of the cooler ones.”

What are your goals for your time at C4? Do you have anything specific you want to get done there, or anyone specific you want to face off with?

“Now that there’s a Women’s title, that’d be very interesting to get my hands on. That, if not, since I started and heard about C4, I always wanted to wrestle Junior there, Junior Benito. Just because I only got to wrestle him once one-on-one. I feel like it was very much at a time, it was a year ago, in my career, when I wasn’t as sure of myself as I am now. I feel like if I get a re-do on matches, that would definitely be one of them, and him being C4 Champion. Those two things right now are my main goals at C4. Also, a one-on-one with Alexia Nicole. We’ve butted heads so many times at C4, and we never had a one-on-one yet. Those three things are the top three on my list at C4.”

Then, on Saturday, February 21st, you will be facing off with one of the newest TNA Knockouts, Jada Stone, at Limitless Wrestling. What’s your mindset heading into this one?

“It’s a little bit of the same thing as the Billie match. It’s super funny that they’re during the same week. But, facing someone who has made her mark on the indies in her area, I believe she’s from North Carolina, I’m not too sure, but I think she’s from there, and then just recently signing with TNA, obviously I’ve known of her before that match to that being announced, I’m not a stranger to who Jada Stone is, but being able to once face off with someone who has done such good work and is ahead of me, I just want to measure up. Also, I’m able to do that on American soil, which I haven’t wrestled in America yet, at Limitless no less, so that match is definitely something I’m locked in and focused on doing well.”

This is actually a debut for you, not only in Limitless, but in the United States. How excited are you to endear yourself to a new fanbase here?

“I’m very excited. The Canadian fanbase is something else; they’re more in person than online, as opposed to what I’ve seen, the American fanbase is more both. I’m very excited to see how I leave my mark there. I’m not very worried about anything; I’m just looking to have a great time there. Knowing the people who have been at Limitless and are doing very well now, including Jada, I’m excited to be a part of that. I’ve never been to Maine, so I’ll see what’s up in that area.”

Limitless has a lot of fantastic stars on its roster. Is there anyone you have your eye on if you potentially returned to Limitless?

“B3CCA. 100% B3CCA. I’m a huge fan of hers, and I’m not afraid to say it. I just think she’s so cool and is a great freakin’ wrestler, and her song is very catchy, I can’t lie. If there’s one person besides Jada that I want to face on that roster, B3CCA is number one.”

Looking ahead for you, do you have any future goals you want to get accomplished, whether in 2026 or beyond?

“My main goal is to get signed, obviously. If I go deeper into it, I want to be able to do wrestling full-time, because right now I don’t, which is fair, it’s okay. But I know that this is what I want in life, and I know that I want to give all my time to it. So, right now my main goal is to make that happen…Obviously, I have my list of people I’d like to face. It’s on my phone, I can never remember it by heart, but B3CCA’s on there, to whoever’s listening. I guess now, I just really want to wrestle people who have done more than I, are doing great, and are just better workers than me. My biggest fear in wrestling is to stay stagnant, and I really don’t want that. I always just want to rise to any opportunity that I have. I guess, for 2026, my main goal is to continue doing that to the best that I can.”

Do you have any future opponents that you’d really like to share the ring with?

“Yes. I remember the first two names on my list because it’s been the same since last year. Megan Bayne and Kris Statlander. I’m 5’10, 185 pounds, so I’m a bigger woman. I’d like to wrestle people a little bit more equal to me in size, but more often than not, I don’t. So, these two are like just a dream match that I just feel like I’d be able to click very well with them. I’d just love to have those two matches happen and whatever crazy world, whatever happens. Those two matches are my top two.”
