Scott’s Five Must-See Matches From 3/27 – 3/29

From Friday, March 27th, through Sunday, March 29th, we witnessed a ton of excellent action on the independent wrestling scene from promotions in the United States to all the way across the pond in London, England. This included an open challenge, a special challenge, a title retained, a reunion of sisters, and a major championship changing hands. From the likes of St. Louis Anarchy, Limitless Wrestling, PROGRESS Wrestling, & Freelance Wrestling, here are five must-see matches from this past weekend for every fan of independent professional wrestling.

5. Charli Evans vs. Gary Jay from St. Louis Anarchy’s “Gateway To Anarchy 2026”

Kicking off this list, we saw St. Louis Anarchy return to Alton, IL, for it’s event, “Gateway To Anarchy.” The event saw a ton of great action, including Mat Fitchett putting his Gateway Heritage Championship on the line against Anakin Murphy and a returning Everett Connors. We also saw some other fun matches, but perhaps the match of the night was the open challenge hosted by Gary Jay to kick off the entire event. Gary Jay’s open challenge was answered by Australia’s own, Charli Evans. This marked Evans’ first match in a St. Louis Anarchy ring since October of 2024, when she knocked off both Ashlyn Alexander and Shazza McKenzie. She returned in a major way against a pillar of the Midwest independent wrestling scene, Gary Jay. Evans and Jay went on to have a brutal, hard-hitting bout to really set the tone for the night. Both competitors defined what it means to be hit and come back and hit harder. Both of them absorbed so much punishment from the other, it was genuinely damn-near a perfect opening match. However, perhaps the toughest part of this match was that nine other matches had to follow it. This match won the night, and it’s not particularly close. Taking nothing away from Anakin Murphy’s major moment, which was super cool to see, this match just had it all. It was such a treat to see Evans back in the United States as she gears up for a major WrestleMania week. She appears to be hanging around for a while, as she also made a major challenge for the next St. Louis Anarchy Alton event, calling out All Elite Wrestling’s own, Eddie Kingston. 4. Alec Price vs. Charles Mason from Limitless Wrestling’s “Bissell Brothers Bash 2026”

On Friday, March 27th, Limitless Wrestling returned to Portland, ME, for one of it’s biggest shows of the year, the second annual “Bissell Brothers Bash.” The event saw a ton of excellent wrestling and major matches, including a monster movie main event as Donovan Dijak put his Limitless Wrestling World Championship against Krule in a no disqualification match. While this was a fantastic main event, it wasn’t the show stealer of the night. That award goes to one of All Elite Wrestling’s newest signees, Alec Price, and one of the top independent wrestlers around today on a generational run, Charles Mason. This was yet another fantastic match for Mason as he continues to solidify himself as one of the top independent professional wrestlers around today. Price and Mason put on magic in just under 10 minutes. The last time we saw Price at Limitless Wrestling came at the Limitless Rumble when he faced off with MJF in what could very well be a match of the year contender for 2026. This also marked the night that Price, alongside Jordan Oliver, first got signed to All Elite Wrestling, collectively, as Bustah & The Brain. Price is a phenomenal talent in the ring, and we saw that first-hand in this one. While Price is indeed phenomenal, Mason held his own with AEW’s newest signee. At times, Mason looked to have Price right where he wanted him. One of the coolest spots of the match saw Price hit a flip powerbomb onto Mason on the apron of the ring. He followed this up with a massive suicide dive, which saw the two go flying into the fans. The craziest part about this whole thing is that you can find and watch this for free. 3. Man Like DeReiss vs. Kid Lykos from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 192: Cause & Effect – Every Action Has A Consequence”

At number three, PROGRESS Wrestling returned to the Electric Ballroom in London, England, for it’s event, “Chapter 192″ Cause & Effect – Every Action Has A Consequence.” The main event of the show saw Man Like DeReiss put the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship on the line against Kid Lykos. Man Like DeReiss first won the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship back in August of 2025 against Luke Jacobs in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match against the former champion, Luke Jacobs. Over the course of his next 200+ days, we saw Man Like DeReiss put his PROGRESS Men’s World Championship on the line against the likes of Charles Mason, Bryan Keith, Darian Bengston, Tommy Billington, Charlie Sterling, Carlos Zamora, Lio Rush, Tate Mayfairs, Kid Lykos II, Tommy Tanner, Robbie X, and Cara Noir. He had a tough task in front of him in this one against the severely underrated Kid Lykos. This was the perfect match in terms of storytelling. Kid Lykos has been experiencing an identity crisis. At times, it appeared like he was going to go to the dark side, but he always had his best friend, Kid Lykos II, there to smack some sense into him. We saw that on full display in this match, with Kid Lykos having quite a few chances to do some sort of underhanded tactics to win the match and win the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship. This was ironically how he even got a shot against Man Like DeReiss, hitting him from behind with his elbow cast, which was loaded. Were we going to get a heel turn that cemented Kid Lykos as one of PROGRESS Wrestling’s top heels, or were we going to get the lovable Kid Lykos back that fans all are very behind? Something was truly going to have to give here. One thing we knew for sure was that we were in for an absolute banger of a time. Go back and check this one out on TrillerTV+ or Hooked On Wrestling.

2. Pretty Empowered vs. Darin Corbin & CJ Martin from Freelance Wrestling’s “Lucky Charm”

On Friday, March 27th, Freelance Wrestling returned to the Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago, IL, for it’s sold out event, “Lucky Charm.” The main event saw Devon Monroe put the Freelance Wrestling World Championship on the line against Trevor Outlaw and Darius Latrell, who cashed in his Red Star Medallion. We also saw several other fantastic matches, including The Syndicate competing in six-man tag action, Izzy Moreno battling Sabin Gauge, and so much more. However, the match that stole the night for me was Pretty Empowered’s Kenzie Paige & Kylie Alexa face off with Darin Corbin & CJ Martin in tag team action. It’s always a treat getting to see the Paige sisters team up. Kenzie Paige is one of my personal favorite wrestlers around today. There’s nothing she can’t do in the ring, and she’s already cemented herself as one of the all-time greats in the NWA. However, it’s also time people take notice of her sister, Kylie. Kylie Alexa has been on one of the best runs I’ve ever seen. When I first saw Kylie Alexa in NWA in Pretty Empowered, alongside Ella Envy, I knew she’d be special. But this current run she’s been on has been nothing short of extraordinary. Kylie has always been special, but she has shown a completely new side of herself as of late. Not only has she improved such a great deal in the ring, but her character, her charisma, is out of this world. She makes fans love her or hate her with ease. She isn’t afraid to go that extra mile to be a great heel (or babyface in this match). She just has fun out there, and it’s so fun to watch. Seriously, go check out some of Kylie’s most recent work, including her “Tournament For Tomorrow 2026” win from WWR+ on the WWR+ VOD channel on IWTV. Their opponents in this one, Darin Corbin & CJ Martin, have been one of my favorite teams in all of Freelance as of late. The Conduits of Corbin’s Knowledge, or C.O.C.K. for short, has been a very fun faction. Led by Darin Corbin, it sees Corbin trying to teach his knowledge to CJ Martin, RJ Sowa, and Sean Galway. While he’s a very fun heel and sometimes funny to watch, Corbin is one of the most underrated wrestlers around today. He’s been around for a while and has helped grow many great athletes, including the three he’s currently working with. He deserves his flowers for that, whether you love him or hate him. This match was a blast, all four competitors were a blast, and this one ruled. Go back and check this one out on the Freelance Wrestling VOD channel on IWTV.

1. Diamond Eyes vs. Young Guns from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 192: Cause & Effect – Every Action Has A Consequence”

Coming in at number one on this list, let’s return across the pond for PROGRESS Wrestling. We saw Diamond Eyes, Connor Mills & Nico Angelo, put their PROGRESS Wrestling Tag Team Championships on the line against the Young Guns, Ethan Allen & Luke Jacobs. While this wasn’t the main event, this was the match that stole the show in my eyes. Man Like DeReiss and Kid Lykos put on a great storytelling main event, but if you’re looking for a pure outstanding wrestling match, look no further than this tag team bout. Diamond Eyes first won the titles back in October of 2025. Over the course of their next 154 days, we saw Diamond Eyes have incredible bouts with the likes of Lykos Gym (Kid Lykos & Kid Lykos II), Sunshine Machine (Chuck Mambo & TK Cooper), and Gene Munny & Kouga. As for the Young Guns, following Luke Jacobs dropping the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship to Man Like DeReiss, we saw him take a bit of a break from PROGRESS. Now that he’s back, he’s doing some of his best work yet with his best friend by his side, Ethan Allen. The Young Guns are no strangers to the independent scene in England, but it’s awesome getting to see them get a run in PROGRESS Wrestling. The Young Guns earned this shot when they knocked off SAnitY’s Axel Tischer & Big Damo in February, at PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 191: For The Love Of PROGRESS 4.” Before this match, it’s been one year since we’ve seen the Young Guns collectively as a unit inside of a PROGRESS Wrestling ring. Getting to the match with Diamond Eyes, this was an absolute match of the year contender. This marked the Young Guns’ first time teaming up inside the Electric Ballroom in London, England. An absolutely wild stat. Over the course of the next nearly 20 minutes, we saw a wrestling clinic from all four men, including everything from high-flying moves to submission holds to chain wrestling. This was the all-around PERFECT match. While it’s only March, you may be hard-pressed to find a better match than this throughout all of 2026. Truly, this was a remarkable match. Go back and check this one out ASAP on TrillerTV+ or Hooked On Wrestling.
