Berwyn Eagles Club No Longer Hosting Independent Wrestling Events Following “Stabbing” Incident

The legendary Berwyn Eagles Club will no longer be hosting professional wrestling events.

After being a staple in the Chicagoland independent wrestling scene for over 20 years, the Berwyn Eagles Club will no longer host professional wrestling events following the events that took place at the end of a Ruthless Pro Wrestling event on March 28th, where a fan was accused of stabbing Krule after the fan received a beatdown from several wrestlers on the show.

GCW tweeted, We have just been informed by the venue that all events at the Berwyn Eagles Club (including our June 20th event) will have to be cancelled. We will announce a new location for our June 20th event later today.

GCW owner Brett Lauderdale tweeted about his frustrations on the situation. “This was directly caused by an incident (the fake stabbing) that took place at another promotions event which has caused the town, lawyers & police to be involved. It’s truly a shame to see the Berwyn Eagles and 20+ years of Chicago wrestling history come to an end like this.” Lauderdale went on to say “It wasnt a stunt, it was a lie made up by the locker room and the promoters to justify a gang beatdown.”

A number of people at the Ruthless Pro Wrestling show spoke to Fightful.com stating that they did not see a knife during the attack on Krule.

Several promotions are now having to seek a new venue for their upcoming events including Bloodstone Wrestling which was scheduled for June 12th. The final professional wrestling event to be held at the Berwyn Eagles Club will be April 24th for AAW.

AAW promoter Mike Petkovich gave an official statement to the Voices of Wrestling website.

“April 24th will be the final event at the Berwyn Eagles Club. It started in February of 2004 with AAW and it will end with AAW. Tickets are limited as there will be an attendance cap. There are so many memories and this venue has had such an influence on what you see on tv today. Everyone at AAW is saddened by this turn of events and we will deliver one final show in Berwyn only as AAW can.”

PWPonderings will have updates regarding this situation and any updates on events originally scheduled to take place at the venue.
