Jerome Cusson and Justin Houston are back this week to chat about things that have nothing to do with the main event at Best in the World. They briefly talk about the hurricane and its effect on everything this weekend before naturally talking some Young Lions Cup. Results and ramifications are discussed (Kevin and Justin will delve into these results and a preview of the big Manhattan debut in a couple weeks.). They also get some smaller topics such as Ric Flair’s financial problems, the Hardy brother sanity, a brand new wrestling project from Jeff Katz, and Colt Cabana. Justin even has an eye for the new trainer of the Chikara wrestling school.

  1. It was impossible to read the Flair article at Grantland without your jaw hanging open in disbelief. Clearly there is a disconnect with reality there. I have to defend Ric as a man, in that I met him at the ROH Manassas show, and he was far more gracious and outgoing with the fans than I would’ve expected him to be. He engaged in small talk and made everyone feel important. As a matter of fact, of all my “heroes” that I’ve met through the years and across genres, I was most surprised and happy meeting him.

Unbelievable that such a solid guy like Cabana was let go from ROH. I absolutely believe he’s got a spot in WWE, the role of Junkyard Dog or Jimmy “Boogie Woogie Man” Valient. The fun, anything goes, family friendly comedy wrestler. And as for ROH, the man was a staple of the promotion. I’m getting more and more fearful of the direction they are going…

I don’t think Hunter “Delirious” Johnson even has the ROH book anymore. Listening to the Monday Night Mayhem show with Jim Cornnette, he basically said he’s involved in lots of things creatively…that tells me he’s NOT involved with “creative” primarily. At least that’s how I interpreted his words. I agree with Justin that Jim Cornette himself is now running the show.

I’m excited for the new Katz promotion. I’ve always thought that if someone like HBO could come in an produce a high quality wrestling show like that (but not cheesy like Wrestling Society X) with legit camera work, great promo/storyline stuff outside the arena, it could really capture the glory of pro wrestling with a fresh look/feel.

C’mon Jerome, Kevin Steen signed with Resistance Pro, I know you’re starting to get excited!!
