Episode 14 Review

(Season 2 Episode 1)

This is the Season 2 premier episode for All American Pro Wrestling. On this episode we see a 15 Man Battle Royal to determine a new No.1 Contender for the Heavyweight Title, Bull Bronson, The Great Cheyenne, Stacey O’Brien, Team Overkill, and Money Makin’ Jam Boys. Also we get a big announcement from Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom.

The show starts off with Chris Hagstrom in the ring welcoming the crowd to the second season. He also thanks all the fans who were there for Main Event back in January before going into a run-down of the show then the announcement of a brand new division for AAPW. The new division will be a No Limits division (I’m guessing a No Holds Barred similar division). He then does a run-down of the participants for the No Limits Tournament to crown the first EVER No Limits Champion.

Hagstrom then welcomes AAPW Champion Edmund “Livewire” McGuire, who retained his title at Main Event by defeating “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt. Hagstrom congratulates Livewire for holding the title for more than a year. Livewire begins talking about the guys in the locker room that are gunning for his title and thanks all the fans for supporting AAPW. He also promises the fans that he will continue to be a fighting champion.

Hagstrom then announces the 15 Man Battle Royal to name the number 1 contender for the title and calls out the guys for the match.

Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender for AAPW Championship

Recap: Heath Hatton, Mike Sydal, The Kansas City Killers (Jeremy Wyatt & Mark Sterling), Team Elitism (Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins), “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters, “Farmer” Billy Hills, The Convoy (Rosco Dwayne Harris & Jimmy Wayne Faygo), Justice, “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt with Gaylord Stevens on the outside, Sean Vincent, and Kyle Sykes in a Battle Royal for #1 Contendership.

The match starts off with total chaos as is usual in a battle royal. The first elimination comes at just under 2 minutes in when Kyle Sykes, in his AAPW debut, eliminates Sean Vincent, an AAPW veteran making his television debut. A few minutes later Sykes is eliminated by Ax Allwardt, showing Sykes why it’s important to have eyes in the back of your head in these matches. On the outside Vincent goes after Sykes and the 2 men fight back to the locker room. Jimmy Wayne Faygo of The Convoy goes for a clothesline to take Justice out, but is quickly sent over himself when Justice drops down and pulls the top rope sending Faygo over the rope. On the other side of the ring Farmer Billy Hills sends Rosco Dwayne Hrris, the other half of The Convoy, out of the ring. Next out is Farmer Billy Hills who si eliminated by “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters. Team Elitism ties to eliminate masters while he is standing on the ropes antagonizing Hills, but to no avail as Masters is saved by Allwardt Mike Sydal is the next one eliminated when he is thrown over by The Kansas City Killers. Brandon Espinosa attempts to eliminate Jeremy Wyatt with a clothesline, but misses and allows the Killers to send him over with a double team. Ace Hawkins goes for a double take down on the Killers and eliminates Sterling, but leaving himself and Wyatt hanging from the ropes. This allows Espinosa to eliminate Wyatt and Sterling to eliminate Hawkins by jerking each man’s tag partner from the ropes. This leaves the final 4 men of Hatton, Justice, Allwardt, and Masters in the ring. Justice is the next one eliminated with a double team from Allwardt and Masters. Hatton hits a DDT on Masters leaving him temporarily out of commission. At this point Gaylord Stevens, who is seemingly the 15th man, jumps on the ring apron and raises his umbrella waiting on Allwardt to send in Hatton. Hatton reverses sending in Allwardt, who stops short with Hatton following behind as Allwardt ducks letting Stevens take the shot from Hatton. Allwardt is the next one eliminated by Hatton, although you could ostensibly give the assist to Stevens who was still on the ring apron fighting with the ropes himself (and looking like a turtle stuck on his back). Masters attempts to eliminate Hatton, but Heath is able to hang on to the ring and save himself. Several minutes later Allwardt jumps on the ring apron and distracts Hatton allowing Masters to get the elimination and the win.

The Masterpiece Mike Masters is your NEW #1 contender for the AAPW Championship Title

Review: This was a great match from start to finish. All the guys gave it their all with several working as teams throughout the match. Personally I was pulling for Heath Hatton to win after the ups and downs he had last year, but Mike Masters is a worthy contender, and seemingly a different man than appeared at Main Event.

Dalton Diamond & Zakk Sawyer

Vs.

Bull Bronson

Recap: This is a handicap match for the undefeated big man from Texas and he comes out looking as mean as ever. After some jawing back and forth with some of the fans Bronson makes his way into the ring. He jumps in and immediately attempts to go after Diamond and Sawyer. The 2 men go right after Bull from the bell with Bronson EASILY fighting off the 2 men. After sending Sawyer outside the ring Bull spends some time working on Diamond. A rare mistake from Bull allows Sawyer and Diamond to attempt to gain the advantage, but to no avail. Bull continues working the 2 men over one at a time and together just having some fun. After a splash and suplex on Diamond, Bull goes up to the middle rope and executes a HUGE splash on Diamond, but Sawyer breaks up the pin. Bull quickly sends Sawyer back outside and as Diamond tries to run in for the attack drops him with a big slam. The pin and the 1-2-3 for the win.

Winner: Bull Bronson

Review: Big Bull Bronson is a monster of a man reminiscent of the late Bam Bam Bigalow. He gets through his matches with raw power destroying his opponents. The rest of the roster better be put on notice because the Bull is ready to stampede and take down anyone in his path.

Next up is Team Overkill, Matt Cage and Christian Rose, talking about their match with The Money Makin’ Jam Boys, KC Jackson and Mississippi Madman.

Stacy O’Brien

Vs.

The Great Cheyenne

Recap: If memory serves this is the AAPW Collision debut for both women although Stacy, who is a regular with Missouri Revival Wrestling, appeared at Main Event back in January. The match is joined from break already in progress with Cheyenne whipping Stacy into the corner. O’Brien attempts a sunset flip, but is blocked by Cheyenne grabbing the ropes. The match begins to go back and forth at this point with the women trading shots back and forth. Cheyenne gets Stacy stuck in the tree of woe an climbs up and basically stands on O’Brien’s crotch. At this point Cheyenne is in control just beating Stacy down with shot after shot. Cheyenne gets 2 failed pin attempts on Stacy at this point and O’Brien begins to mount some offense. Stacy gets a couple of 2 counts of her own gaining some control. Cheyenne goes for a power bomb, but Stacy is able to fight out of it. Climbing to the middle rope Stacy comes down with a knee across the chest of Cheyenne and gets the pin.

Winner: Stacy O’Brien

Review: This a great women’s match with both being well versed and Cheyenne herself having traveled the world wrestling in Japan and other territories. Both women are very tough and could easily go toe to toe with ANY of the Divas or Knockouts in WWE or TNA.

Tag Team Championships

Team Overkill

Vs.

The Money Makin’ Jam Boys

Recap: This is the first Title defense for Team Overkill and in my opinion it ain’t gonna be easy. The Jam Boys are a pretty formidable team, that works well together as well as being OBVIOUS fan favorites. The match starts off with Madman and Rose in the ring, with Madman getting a chant of “You Suck!” going for Rose. This REALLY gets under the skin of Rose who eventually locks up with Madman. Rose is easily pushed back into the corner then picked up and sat on the top turn buckle by Madman. Rose is then basically tossed from one corner to another. After a quick break rose has Madman in a headlock only to be quickly tossed outside. Rose puts his hands up for a test of strength, much to the humor of Madman. Rose is walked all the way back to the top turn buckle again then quickly taken down hard to the mat. At this point the quick KC Jackson is tagged in and after a double elbow, takes over working on Rose. Rose gets some offense going and finally gets the tag in to Cage. After a quick flurry of offense Madman is tagged back in and quickly begins taking it to Cage. After several minutes Jackson is tagged back in begins working on Cage himself. KC gets a few good shots in and after a misstep allows Cage to tag Rose back in. Rose begins working on Jackson, who gets a jaw breaker on Rose for the turn around. After a DDT, Jackson gets the 2 count on Rose. Cage is tagged in and attempts a slap to the Madman, who tries to come in, but is blocked by the ref. Team Overkill switches in and out with legal and illegal tags working on Jackson. Jackson attempts to get an offense going only to run into one HELL of a drop kick from Cage. Rose is tagged back in and continues working on Jackson. After a double  team tactic Cage gets another 2 count on Jackson, who at this point severely needs to tag in the Madman. Jackson again gets some offense going and finally is able to tag in the Madman, who goes on the hunt for Team Overkill. Madman gets a double splash on Team Overkill in the corner and after an avalanche on Rose gets a 2 count with Cage breaking up the pin attempt. Madman tags in Jackson who quickly gets a stunner on Cage, but Rose is able to block the slam from Madman. After some double teaming from Team Overkill, Cage gets the pin on Jackson.

Winners and STILL AAPW tag Team Champions: Team Overkill

Review: The Jam Boys are well deserving opponents and definitely deserve a rematch sometime in the future. Team Overkill is starting to click as a tag team and are working well together. The match was a fast paced, well fought match on both sides. Team Overkill, with a little more time together could easily begin to resemble such tag teams as The Midnight Express.

There are a lot of big things in the works for AAPW with the start of the new No Limits division. On a personal level, being friends with several of the guys on the roster and in the office, I am looking forward to what the future brings for the company. This was a great start to a new season of Collision.
