This week’s episode of Collision has both the tag team and heavyweight championships on the line. Brandon Espinosa and Ace Hawkins get a rematch against Matt Cage and Christian Rose , while Heath Hatton challenges Mike Masters for the AAPW Heavyweight Championship.

Team Overkill (Christian Rose & Matt cage)

Vs.

Ace Hawkins & Brandon Espinosa

Recap: The match takes off with Espinosa and Rose in the ring, but before anything can happen Rose tags in Cage. Cage and Espinosa quickly go after one another with Cage taking down Espinosa and the 2 men trading holds on the mat. This goes back and forth for several minutes before Cage wraps an arm around the bottom rope and the ref is forced to break it up. Once again the 2 go to the mat and begin trading holds before getting back to their feet. At this point Cage gets Espinosa in a headlock on the mat and after trading strikes with Espy, tags on Rose. Espinosa and Rose begin going back and forth with holds and strikes, with Espy remaining in control before bringing in Hawkins off a blind tag. Hawkins keeps control of the match giving Rose a round house kick to the head then bringing Espy back in. Hawkins and Espinosa remain in control until Zakk Sawyer jumps on the apron and causes the distraction, letting Cage get the first 2 count. Matt Cage takes control at this point and begins beating on Ace Hawkins, keeping him confined to his team’s corner. Team Overkill remain in control from this point for much of the match, with Rose eventually using one of the belts on Brandon Espinosa to get the DQ.

Winners by disqualification: Ace Hawkins and Brandon Espinosa

Review: This was one HELL of a tag team match. The two teams went at one another hard from the very beginning and used every trick in the respective books. The match brought back memories of teams of old like the Rock N Roll Express, Midnight Express, and Freebirds. THIS is what tag team wrestling should be…..

Next is “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters talking about his match later in the night against Heath Hatton. He says that no one is going to take his title and everyone will see  why he stands alone….

Roscoe Dwayne Harris

Vs.

Chocolate Thunder

Recap: The 2 big men tie up and get the match started. They separate for a few and once again tie up with Harris forcing CT into the corner. After breaking the hold Harris slaps CT in the face to try and intimidate him. The 2 men tie up again this time with CT forcing Harris into the corner, with Harris delivering a thumb to the eye after the clean break from CT. Thunder delivers several big slams to Harris showing his strength. Harris gets several strikes in before getting a 2 count on CT. Harris goes onto the ring apron and climbs to the top rope. Harris attempts a top rope leg drop, only to have CT roll out of the way. After a huge slam CT goes for the pin only to have Harris’ tag team partner Jimmy Faygo enter the ring and attack CT. This earns Harris the DQ, which gives CT the win. Harris and Faygo begin attacking CT, which brings out Farmer Billy Hills to aid CT. Hills, who has had run ins with The Convoy in the past, quickly helps CT make short work of the 2 men and remain standing in the ring. As Hills and Thunder celebrate in the ring, Bull Bronson walks out and enters the ring…

Winner by DQ: Chocolate Thunder

Review: This was a pretty decent match. The 2 big men showed off some skill and went after one another from the start. I would have rather seen the match go the distance to see who comes out on top, rather than a DQ win, but I can definitely see a feud building between The Convoy and Hills and Thunder….

Farmer Billy Hills

Vs.

Bull Bronson

Recap: There is definite bad blood going into this match, as Bronson and Hills do NOT like one another. The match starts off with the 2 men shoving one another trying to one up each other. They begin throwing punch after punch before Bull gains a slight advantage and eventually takes Hills to the mat. At this point Bull takes complete control and begins just stomping on Hills. After a big splash, Bronson is able to get a 2 count before Hills kicks out. Bronson is able to pick Hills up for a body slam and goes for a leg drop, but misses when Hills rolls out of the way. The 2 men attempt clotheslines on one another, only to bounce off of each other and each man goes out of the ring. At this point the fight goes to the floor with the 2 using the guard rail as a weapon before taking the fight back into the ring. Hills goes after Bronson with a HUGE (no pun intended) drop kick sending Bronson into the corner. Hills gives Bronson several right crosses to the face and goes for a 3rd before running into a big boot from Bull. Bronson goes for a pin, but only gets a 2 count. They trade strokes and moves back and forth before Hills goes to the middle rope and attepts a missile drop kick only to have Bronson move. Bronson rolls Hills into the corner and goes for his finisher from the middle rope. Bronson gets the pin and the win.

Winner by pin fall: Bull Bronson

Review: This was a fairly well put together match between 2 big men. Bull is undefeated in AAPW and Hills has a stellar record of his own. This feud could have some awesome matches in store for the fans….

Next is another installment of the ongoing interview segments with “Serial Thriller” Shane Rich. In this segment Rich talks about the breakdown of his friendship with Edmund Livewire McGuire and what he believes brought about that breakdown.

AAPW Heavyweight Champion

“The Masterpiece” Mike Masters

Vs.

Heath Hatton

Recap: The match begins with Masters trying to get in the head of Hatton, only to have Hatton go for a quick roll up to show Masters he is anything but intimidated. Hatton gets masters into a wrist lock and begins working on his arm. Masters is able to get out of the wrist lock only to turn around into a body slam from Heath. Hatton remains in control with move after move laying into Masters. Masters grabs the ref and while keeping him distracted, gives Hatton a low kick to gain control. Masters at this point takes control and begins cutting corners, as usual, to keep control of the match. After a leg drop to Hatton, Masters goes for a pin to only gain a 2 count. After getting Hatton in the corner and delivering several slaps to the chest, Masters loses control to Hatton, who turns it around to deliver some slaps of his own before the match goes to the floor. Hatton sends Masters into the guard rail before attempting to hit masters with what appears to be a clothes line. Masters has other ideas in mind, and sends Hatton over the guard rail with a back body drop. Masters go into the ring to break the 10 count then quickly goes back to the floor and begins working on Hatton again. Hatton is able to regain some control and delivers several shows to Masters before sending him back into the ring to gain a 2 count on Masters. Masters is able to regain control at this point and keeps Hatton on the mat. After trading pin falls Masters goes for the sharp shooter, but Hatton is able to reverse it before Gaylord Stevenss and J. Wellington Beauregard come out and while Stevens distracts the ref, Beauregard knocks Hatton unconscious with a chain wrapped around his hand. Masters puts Hatton back into the sharp shooter to gain the win.

Winner by submission: “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters

Review: This was a pretty good match between 2 men who are firmly established in the upper echelon of AAPW. Hatton is always a fan favorite and Masters is just hated by anyone he comes in contact with. I would love to see these 2 in a cage match that no one can interfere in to see who comes out on top.

AAPW continues to improve in all aspects of their shows. They are, to my knowledge, one of the quickest growing organizations in their area and have some of the most die-hard fans in indy wrestling. I sincerely hope they continue to grow and add talent to their roster and eventually be one of the “Big Dogs” in the yard.
