Matt Lott recaps last episode’s action from the studio, as he mentions Joey Janela winning the White Belt in controversial fashion. Tonight, Janela will take on Brandon Cutler, who returns to the ring after a long hiatus.

Joey Janela gloats about beating Yuta in a straight up professional wrestling match last week. “He didn’t have to use any tactics” (even though he used a low blow), and he continues to prove why he is one of the best talents in the world. Joey Janela is not number eight… He’s number one. Brandon Cutler grew up with the Young Bucks in Rancho Cucamonga. Cutler took a break from wrestling to start a family, and now he’s ready to return with a wife and two kids watching at home. Janela tells Cutler that the game has changed, and Janela plans on beating him in three seconds. Cutler says Janela is out of his mind, and he’ll be a tough fight. Janela tells Cutler to get a job at a hardware store.

Dojo Pro White Belt: Joey Janela (c) vs. Brandon Cutler

This was a very solid match, with Cutler looking good in his return to the ring, but Janela was just one step ahead the entire time. This week, Janela didn’t have to pull any tricks out, and beat Cutler straight up. No low blow, just a clean Double Stomp to get the win. The crowd liked Cutler, and he played a good underdog here, but past matches turned out better due to a great story. This one had you heel vs. face style, with Cutler getting a couple of good underdog spots, but past matches have presented a better story (Yuta/Miller, Yuta/Janela) that get you even more involved. Anyways this was still a good match, with Janela picking up another win, and he can gloat even more because he didn’t need a cheap shot to win a straight up pro wrestling match this episode.

Winner: Joey Janela

Match Rating: ***

Rob Johnston got an episode off, but he’s back here tonight. He interviews Janela, saying he’s halfway through the gauntlet. Next episode, he will take on James Storm. Janela doesn’t like how Johnston talked to him, then goes on to say Storm was relevant in 2003, but now it’s 2018. Joey Janela’s name is all around the internet, and if he looked up Storm, a picture of a lot leaner, lot younger Storm would come up. Janela goes on to rip on wrestler’s that came from Tennessee, mentioning guys like Jerry Lawler. Janela rips on Tennessee a little more, before the crowd chants “cut his mic”, and Janela is finally done. He shoves Johnston on his way out.

Final Thoughts:

Like I mentioned before, Janela vs. Cutler didn’t have as great of a story as past matches in the series did, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that we got a good and clean wrestling match, with really nothing to complain about. Janela continues to be a great heel, and has gone from having fans, to getting everyone in the Dojo Pro audience to turn on him. Janela has a low blow win, and a clean week this week, nothing that he typically is used to doing. Next episode we get Janela vs. Storm, which should be absolutely fantastic. It’ll be interesting to see if the veteran can shut Janela up, or Janela will sneak his way past Storm.

Final Rating: 6.9/10
