Ultima Lucha Cuatro will be a two week extravaganza, and it’s a fun card, filled with gimmick matches, feuds ending, and title matches with high stakes. There’s a lot to love about this card, with little to no filler. If all goes as planned, this could be the best Ultima Lucha to date. If you haven’t been following Lucha Underground this season, I’ll catch you up on everything you need to know! Let’s run down the card.

Trios Championship Elimination Match: The Reptile Tribe (c) vs. The Rabbit Tribe vs. Ivelisse, XO Lishus, and Sammy Guevara

The Reptile Tribe have been Trios Champions for quite awhile now, and they’ve put in some quality outings as champions. The trio of Kobra Moon, Daga, and Jeremiah Snake is very interesting, but they always deliver, and I expect the same here. Ivelisse and XO Lishus recently teamed with Joey Ryan, but due to him pretty much getting murdered, Sammy Guevara is their new partner for this title match. I don’t believe those three deserve a trios title match, but it makes sense as LU didn’t want a Heel vs. Heel title match. The White Rabbit has been a slow build, but we’re finally here, and I’m loving this new Rabbit Tribe. Paul London has revamped his trio, and it features a mini, El Bunny, and an absolute killer, that being the White Rabbit. With this being an elimination match, I expect Ivelisse and crew to go out early, but Sammy Guevara should shine before they get eliminated. This leaves the current champions against The Rabbit Tribe, but in the end, London and his White Rabbit will be too much, as we crown new Trios Champions.

Prediction: The Rabbit Tribe

Taya Mundo vs. Ricky Mundo

This is EASILY the least intriguing match on the card, but it makes sense, and I’m assuming is only here to continue the push of Ricky Mundo. The entire season, we saw Ricky get thrown off to the side, and Johnny really doesn’t want Ricky to do much, even though Ricky “legally” changed his last name to match his idol, Johnny Mundo. Throughout the season, Ricky Mundo began talking to a doll, which was pushing him down the dark path. His darkest move of all took place at the wedding of Taya and Johnny Mundo. Right as the marriage was coming to a conclusion, Matanza Cueto returned, and demolished everyone. A few weeks later, Ricky revealed that he was the one to release Matanza at the wedding, and then he challenged Taya to a match at Ultima Lucha. I expect this one to be a shorter match, with Taya as a never say die babyface, before Ricky Mundo and his doll stand tall.

Prediction: Ricky Mundo

Mask vs. Mask: Son of Havoc vs. Killshot

At the start of the season, Son of Havoc, Killshot, and Dante Fox were the Lucha Underground Trios Champions. It was announced that Dante Fox wasn’t at the Temple, so the trio named The Mack as their third member. This trio didn’t seem to see eye to eye, and all of the problems were mainly with Killshot. Killshot was constantly tagging himself in, or not being involved in matches when he needed to be. After these three lost the Trios Titles, Killshot turned on Son of Havoc and The Mack, officially ending this Trios hopes and dreams. The Mack went off to feud with Mil Muertes, while Son of Havoc and Killshot are finally about to meet paths. The build to this hasn’t been fantastic, but it’s a match that makes a ton of sense, and has so much potential to succeed. Killshot was apart of the best match at Ultima Lucha last year, when he fought Dante Fox in a Art of War mach. Now, Antonio Cueto has raised the stakes, making this a Mask vs. Mask match. I expect Son of Havoc to get a redemption win, and that leaves Killshot without his mask, maybe allowing for Shane Strickland to be himself on Season 5, if we even get a 5th season?

Prediction: Son of Havoc

2 out of 3 Falls: Dragon Azteca Jr. vs. Fenix

While I don’t understand why this is a 2 out of 3 Falls match, I’ll take it, because this will be INSANE. Early on in the season, Fenix lost a Three Way to a Grave match, and Mil Muertes finally took him out for good. Just two months ago, Aerostar brought Fenix back from the dead, but this isn’t the same Fenix we’re used to seeing. Fenix has a darker look, and a new attitude. When the Lucha All Star team of Fenix, Drago, and Aerostar was brought back together, Fenix did the unthinkable by turning on his former Trios Champion co-holders, and then shoved down his former? girlfriend, Melissa Santos. Dragon Azteca got involved by trying to save Melissa, but this allowed for Fenix to attack Dragon Azteca, forcing him to lose his Gift of the Gods title, and ruin his dream of main eventing Ultima Lucha. I’m pretty torn on this one, but I think Fenix should get the win, maybe with Melissa also turning heel and helping Fenix win? Not too sure how it’ll go down, but I’m sticking with Fenix.

Prediction: Fenix

Death Match: Mil Muertes vs. The Mack

These two had a GREAT “Haunted House” match earlier in the season, and I’m assuming that was only a taste of what we’ll get here. The Mack and Mil Muertes both thrive in gimmick matches, so this fits perfectly with the two. If you look at what both have done in the past, whether it was The Mack in a Falls Count Anywhere match with Cage at Ultima Lucha 1, or Mil Muertes in his Grave Consequence matches (most notably every match against Fenix), you know we’re in for a bloodbath. What sparked this feud the most was when The Mack won the Gift of the Gods battle royal, and chose for Mil Muertes to be kicked out of the match. The Haunted House match was absolutely wild, but Mil Muertes also had Catrina by his side then… We all know that she’s no longer with us. I wouldn’t be shocked if Muertes won, but I’m going with Mack getting the win here, setting him up as the next challenger for the Lucha Underground Title.

Prediction: The Mack

Sacrifice to the Gods: Johnny Mundo vs. Matanza Cueto

Antonio Cueto started “Sacrifice to the God” matches early on in the season, which consist of Matanza killing men in a few minutes, and we never see from them again. Now, it’s Johnny Mundo who stands across the ring from Matanza. Everything kicked off at the wedding between Mundo and Taya, where Matanza was released from his cage, and came out to destroy everyone. Johnny was out for a few months, but Worldwide Underground continued to fight against Matanza, but they didn’t get too far. Jack Evans was sacrificed, and Taya put up a good fight before Johnny returned, and this match was made official. With the most recent angle to close the latest episode of Lucha Underground, all signs point to Johnny Mundo picking up the win. Aerostar and Drago have gifted Mundo with the Gauntlet, which was originally given to Cage, who became an absolute madman with it. Johnny Mundo now stands a chance against Matanza, and I expect him to pick up the win, and be the first man not getting sacrificed.

Prediction: Johnny Mundo

Cero Miedo – Lucha Underground Championship: Marty “The Moth” Martinez (c) vs. Pentagon Dark

For a casual to look at this card, I don’t think they’d be the most intrigued by this match, and I don’t blame them. In no way is Marty the Moth a great wrestler you’d want to main event your biggest show, but his character is larger than life, and the way he’s been booked this season was absolutely perfect. Marty stood toe to toe with Pentagon at the beginning of the season in Aztec Warfare, and almost became the Lucha Underground Champion. He flew under the radar for most of the season, but it was a meeting with Antonio Cueto that changed everything. Marty gave Cueto a big wad of money, and said he wanted two things. We didn’t know both things, but we knew that Marty would be getting a shot at the Gift of the Gods Championship. Marty took advantage of Fenix beating down Azteca, and he won the Gift of the Gods Championship. Later in the night, Pentagon retained his title against King Cuerno and Mil Muertes, which allowed for Marty to come out and beat down Pentagon. This was when we figured out the second thing Marty asked for was the Gift of the Gods Title to be cashed in IMMEDIATELY, not one week later. Thanks to some help from the debuting Reklusa (Chelsea Green), Marty won the Lucha Underground Championship. From there, Pentagon Dark won a Number One contender’s match, and earned his spot in the main event of Ultima Lucha Cuatro. Marty asked for this to be a “Cero Miedo” match, which we haven’t seen since Ultima Lucha 1, where Pentagon took on Vampiro in one of the most brutal matches in Lucha Underground history. Now, Marty has Reklusa by his side, but with the stipulation, does it favor the man who invented the match, or a crazy bastard with an even more crazy woman by his side? There’s a lot to digest here, and you can’t forget Jake Strong, who could cash in The Gift of the Gods (likely scenario). Chelsea Green has officially signed with WWE, which means she won’t be used going forward. This is something LU obviously didn’t know at the time, so I don’t expect her to be written off or anything. Pentagon winning isn’t out of the question, and if he does win, I fully expect Jake Strong to cash in Gift of the Gods, but will he walk out with the gold? There’s so much to love about this match, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.

Prediction: Pentagon Dark (Jake Strong cashes in GOTG afterwards)

Ultima Lucha Cuatro begins on Halloween night, featuring the Trios Title match, and the Mask vs. Mask match. I’m actually glad this show isn’t four weeks like last season. We have two matches next week, and then the remaining five will fill a 2 hour show on November 7th. There’s no signs of Lucha Underground getting renewed for a 5th season, so could this be the final Ultima Lucha?
