Ray Rosas vs. Aaron Solow

Rosas’s partner, Peter Avalon was on commentary for this one and was quite annoying. The match was very good, great back and forth action to kick off the show, but it was terrible how many times Avalon said “unbelievable”. I understand what he was doing, mocking Excalibur is cool and stuff, but it was done WAY too much. Solow got quite a few more bookings ever since Dojo Pro, but he died down a bit, but it’s great to see him back in action here at Bar Wrestling. Bayley was also at this event, and had a killer thumb wrestling match with Joey Ryan! That aside, Rosas hit a beautiful Styles Clash in the match, but that didn’t’ put Solow away, it was the Elbow Drop off the top rope. Very enjoyable opener.

Winner: Ray Rosas

Match Rating: ***1/4

Nicole Savoy vs. Delilah Doom vs. Shotzi Blackheart

All three of these ladies come from very different backgrounds, and this match had it’s sloppy moments, but otherwise it was a good pro wrestling match. I felt like they were stuck in the cliche one on one formula for maybe the first two thirds of the match, but once they were all together in the ring it was a ton of fun. Shotzi is a known name in the Midwest scene, so seeing her in SoCal is very interesting. Savoy got the win off of a TKO, in a solid match, just a tad below the opener.

Winner: Nicole Savoy

PJ Black vs. Luchasaurus

BIG history here, as Black’s Worldwide Underground partner, Johnny Mundo, killed Vibora in Lucha Underground… But now Luchasaurus is here for revenge! All joking aside, this was a good back and forth match, very similar to the opener. It’s amazing the things Luchasaurus can do for his size, whether it’s the flashy kicks, moonsaults, or whatever, he impresses me more and more each time. PJ Black landed awkwardly from a Spanish Fly, but while Luchasaurus was complaining about the count, Black got a backslide and stole the win. I’m not the biggest fan of the finish, but it works in this situation.

Winner: PJ Black

Killer Baes (Heather Monroe and Laura James) vs. RockNES Monsters (Johnny Yuma and Kevin Martenson)

This was a fine comedy match, and far from bad, but easily the weakest part of the show to this point. Monroe and James were fighting from the bottom the entire time, and they were good underdogs, and the story was done well. I think it was a poor decision to give this match so much time, when you had two quality singles matches prior that could’ve used a few extra minutes to make them great. Overall, there was a lot of focus on the butt, and the crowd mostly enjoyed it, but the highlight was the Simpsons spot, and that’s the only really memorable thing.

Winners: Killer Baes

Match Rating: **3/4

Jungle Boy vs. Eli Everfly

Match of the night, as expected knowing these two, who will do absolutely anything to pick up a win. The fight went into the crowd for a bit, but it was very hard to see what was going on, so I’m glad they brought it back inside. Everfly’s combination of a huge spinning rana off the top rope followed by a crazy Canadian Destroyer is one of the coolest things, but it was obvious Jungle Boy was going to kick out. Jungle Boy hit some crazy things as well, including a brutal back drop to Everfly on the apron, a slingshot cutter, and his own Canadian Destroyer. Great match, tons of good near falls, and Everfly picks up the win with a cradle Canadian Destroyer.

Winner: Eli Everfly

Match Rating: ***3/4

Violence Unlimited (Brody King and Tyler Bateman) vs. Wakanda Vice (Eric Watts and Scorpio Sky)

Good main event, highlighted by the interactions between Brody and Watts. While it wasn’t as good as Violence Unlimited’s main event at Bar Wrestling 25, this was still a great back and forth match, pretty much tornado rules, where they did everything possible in the limited time given. I have no problem with the matches being shorter like this when they get everything in, much better than the match dragging on and you’re stuck sitting through rest holds. King and Watts superplex was the highlight of the match, and Wakanda Vice shockingly picked up the win! While nowhere near great, this was a very enjoyable main event.

Winners: Wakanda Vice

Match Rating: ***1/4

Final Thoughts:

This show clocked in at just over 68 minutes, and it definitely flew by. I said one of the reasons I wanted to get into Bar Wrestling was because of the easy to sit through shows, and this proved just that. While nothing really blows you away, the two shows I’ve watched were very solid, featuring an array of great matches, most of which are completely different from each other. On this show, we had two very solid singles matches (Rosas/Solow and Black/Lucha), a good tag main event, and a great match between Eli Everfly and Jungle Boy. The women’s three way was also good, and the intergender tag was mostly there for comedy, but it wasn’t bad at all. This was Bar Wrestling’s second show of December, and we still have one more to go! I’d say Bar 25 was a bit better, but this was insanely easy to sit through and nothing disappointed.

Final Rating: 6.8/10
