ROH 03/30/19 TV Review: The Kingdom vs Villain Enterprises
03/16/19
Sam’s Town Live
Las Vegas, Nevada

This week was the first episode from the set of tapings from Las Vegas, Nevada. Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman and Dalton Castle were on commentary and welcomed us to the show.

First Match: Mark Haskins vs. Rush
The two started off at a very quick pace, trading counter after counter until both men popped up to their feet, proving to be equals. Rush switched gears and went for power, challenging Haskins to take him down with chops. El Toro Blanco was able to weather the attacked and tossed Haskins to the outside and into the barricades. Haskins was able to create some space and take control of the match, but he simply could not put Rush away. Rush weathered the onslaught and was able to toss Haskins into the corner, setting him up for the Bull’s Horns corner dropkick before picking up the victory. Rush seemed to be preening towards Castle during the match and the former world champion responded by saying that he was enjoying it because he looks to Rush as a test for himself. This was a strong opening contest-Haskins fits in very well with the company and Rush continues to come off as an absolute star here.

Winner: Rush

A number of video packages detailing how the matches for G1 Supercard took shape aired next. These were excellent and really added to the hype for the big event.

Main Event: ROH 6-Man Tag Team Champions
The Kingdom (c) vs Villain Enterprises
All six men brawled to start the contest right after the bell rang, eschewing wrestling holds and instead opting for haymakers. The action quickly spilled the outside with Taven paired with Scurll, Marseglia duking it out with King and O’Ryan laying into PCO.  Both of these squads are true trios here in the way they work. The Kingdom has rightly held the titles and been the most decorated team in the division, but there was definitely a need for a new squad to be at the top of the division. The Kingdom seemed to have the match locked up as they hit Rockstar Supernova on Brody King, but Taven realized that King was not the legal man and made no attempt to pin him. While Taven and Marseglia were on the outside Scurll took the opportunity to cinch in a chickenwing O’Ryan to pick up the win and the 6-Man tag titles. The result here also paints an interesting path and possibilities for the G1 Supercard. With VIllain Enterprises holding the tag titles and winning the 6-man tag titles, there is a chance that the trip walks out of MSg with every ROH title, sans the WOH, in tow.

Winners: Villain Enterprises

Final Reaction: C+/B-
This was an excellent go-home show. The video packages were excellent and both matches featured build to the big show. Although nothing Earth-shattering occurred this was a fun hour of television and did well to hype up the PPV.
