1. Nick Gage defeated John Silver via Avalanche Piledriver through a door followed by a chokebreaker. Really fun sprint, Silver was great at targeting Gage’s arm until he abandoned that strategy to try to beat Gage at his own game.
  2. Bear Country defeated Mike Verna and Rex Lawless via Elevator Drop. Four athletic big men just going at it nonstop. Verna and Lawless had a lot of success as The Closers, having seen a few of their matches, I knew this would be great. It was a little on the short side, but all athletes made every second count!
  3. Chuck O’Neil defeated DL Hurst via Ankle Lock. This was my favorite match of the first half. These two athletes gave us an awesome underdog vs smug jerk matchup. Hurst couldn’t outwrestle or outstrike the former Ultimate Fighter contestant, so he had to outsmart him and use his speed advantage. Unfortunately, his newly healed leg gave him trouble, which ultimately led to his downfall.
  4. Club Cam (Cam Zagami, Christian Casanova, Ken Doane, and Richard Holiday) defeated Josh Briggs, Anthony Greene, Ava Everett, and Angel Sinclair in a gauntlet style elimination match. Holiday eliminated both Everett and Sinclair in rather quick fashion. Greene came in to make quick work of Holiday. Doane and Greene fought for a few minutes before Doane used the ropes to get the elimination. Greene got revenge and allowed the lone remaining member of his team to get an elimination. Casanova and Briggs went at it in the last portion of the match. Briggs used his power to stay in the driver’s seat the majority of the match, though Casanova used his speed to ensure that the fight was always competitive. In the end, Thomas Sharp (the former Blaster McMassive in CHIKARA) interfered and allowed Club Cam to gain the victory. Casanova and Zagami are your sole survivors.
  5. Wheeler Yuta defeated Ace Austin via cross-legged rear naked choke. Up until the main event, this was the most technical matchup of the night. Going into the show, I was expecting more aerial offense from Austin. Instead, Austin showed he could hang with Yuta on the mat, even if he occasionally used a card to inflict illegal damage.
  6. Tony Deppen defeated Manders via rear Shining Wizard to retain the Discovery Gauntlet.. Admittedly, I might be biased due to both competitor’s SCI roots, but this was my overall match of the night. Manders just beat the crap out of Deppen, but Deppen just kept coming back. Deppen has this evil underdog vibe, almost like Ogawa. Manders, on the other hand, reminds me of Sting, Stan Hansen, and Dr. Death Steve Williams. Deppen And Manders went at it tooth and nail, but in the end, Deppen used Manders’ own cowbell against him for the W.
  7. Chris Dickinson and Pinkie Sanchez defeated Milk Chocolate via PowerPlex with a Moonsault. I was expecting Dickinson and Sanchez to run through Milk Chocolate, but they put up one heck of a fight.
  8. Timothy Thatcher defeated Eddie Kingston with a double arm chickenwing style amateur pin. This was our dream match main event. This was definitely a fight, but it was more of a slow, gritty fight. Thatcher had a pretty big technical advantage, but Kingston always had that puncher’s chance. For the majority of the match, Thatcher was in control, but that helped make Kingston a more effective underdog. In the end, Thatcher had Kingston in a Fujiwara Armbar, but he chose to float over into a pin because he knew Kingston would not give up. To, close the show, Kingston gave an impassioned speech about Mental Health Awareness followed by a pep talk to John Silver, who has been in a little bit of a slump.
