Jake Hager DEF. Dustin Rhodes

Highlights:

  • Dustin’s style for the match is consistent with his story. He’s not doing any “Moves” for most of the match instead using strikes, throws, and smacking Jake to inflict as much damage as possible. Meanwhile Jake wrestles with a more versatile style like he doesn’t see Dustin as a threat.
  •  Great Sell by Jake after being tossed over the ropes onto the steps. He looked as though he was knocked unconscious when he landed.
  • The ankle lock was an intense moment. It felt like it could possibly be the end of the match right then and there.

Low Points:

  • What was the point of Jake Hager’s wife being there? Dustin looks like he just smothered his make up on her and that was it. It didn’t make a lot of sense.
  • For what feels like the end of the feud it end on such a low note. Dustin looks like he fell asleep in Jake’s arms and it feels so anti-climactic.

Darby Allin DEF. Sammy Guevara

Highlights:

  • I’ve always praised Sammy for his work and this week is no exception. The 630 senton through the table. The backflip of Darby’s back. And the Spanish fly are some of the highlights of this match. Even though it’s a losing effort Sammy is still professional and puts on a great show.
  • Clever booking. By never starting the match Darby and Sammy can get away with things that would disqualify them. And the fans have no clue because it’s a regular match.

Low Points:

  • Why was Jurassic Express in the audience when they had nothing to do with the match?
  • The botched suicide dive killed some of the momentum Darby had going for him in the match.

Adam Page and Kenny Omega Def. The Young Bucks

Highlights:

  • Since the start of AEW’s tag team division, it seemed like the Young Buck were going to be champions. Seeing them struggle and have to get back to the top has been exciting.
  • The story of Adam and the Young Bucks playing out in the ring. While Kenny was competing as well Adam was feuding and you could see that in their offense.
  • There are so many great spots that could be the highlight of the match. Nick Jackson taking on Adam and Kenny. The 450 splash. Any of the top rope moves. Adam getting tossed onto the entrance by the suplex. The combination Escalara and Hurricarana.
  • Despite numerous near-falls, it doesn’t get old instead creating tension over who will lose.
  • The ending creates more questions. Does Adam trust Kenny? Why did he hesitate to leave the ring?

Low Points:

  • Why can’t more matches be booked with a storyline like this behind it?

Nyla Rose DEF. Kris Statlander

Highlights:

  • Kris Statlander’s Avalanche Brainbuster is probably the move of the match

Low Points:

  • For a Pay-per-view match it comes off as very lackluster.
  • The action is slow at certain points and to make matters worse the crowd goes silent and you can hear the ref.
  • Heavy use of middle-rope dives.

MJF DEF. Cody

Highlights:

  • This could have easily just been a beatdown where Cody mops the floor with MJF and Maxwell’s credibility would have been shot. Instead, it’s a match that treats the heel as serious competition.
  • MJF throwing a beer at a fan while on the outside of the ring. He’s already a great heel but things like this are so rare nowadays.
  • An airplane spin in 2020? If you can get the crowd cheering for that you know you’re doing a good job.
  • Never seen anybody get a rope break using their teeth.
  • Cody’s over the ropes suplex has to be the highlight of the match.

Low Points

  • If MJF could have just walked out what was to stop him from getting counted out or leaving the arena?
  • Cody didn’t need to go all that way just for a clothesline.
  • MJF biting Cody’s toe. That just comes off as gross.
  • This late in the feud why would Cody believe MJF is sorry?

Pac DEF. Orange Cassidy

Highlights:

  • This could have been a squash match. Instead what we get is a new take on Orange Cassidy where he maybe super powerful and athletic, whenever he feels like it.
  • Orange’s swinging DDT reversal on the top rope and pocket hip toss are the highlights of this match.
  • The one major comedic spot has to be Orange rolling away from Pac multiple times.
  • Pac tossing Orange into the ring post on the outside. It’s a spot we’ve seen numerous times but it looked so brutal.

Low Points:

  • Why is Orange Cassidy’s entrance ramp graphic sunflowers?
  • As funny as Orange rolling away numerous times, but it also makes other wrestlers look stupid for not doing the same.

MOX DEF. Chris Jericho

Highlights:

  • The choir singing Judas.
  • The visual of Jon Moxley with an eye patch and Chris Jericho with stitches gives a sense of how badly both men really want it
  • Jericho continuing his tradition of grabbing the camera and flipping off his opponent.
  • This match is part brawl with Jericho and Moxley going through the crowd. and once they enter the ring it becomes a regular match. Emphasizing both competitor’s preferred match types.
  • Finally just ejecting The Inner Circle and not having Aubrey Edwards act oblivious.
  • Highlights include Jericho powerbombing Moxley through the table. Moxley using the walls of Jericho and the top rope lariat.

Low Points:

  • I think by now it was obvious that Jon’s eye wasn’t injured anymore.
