Today, Matt Demorest (also known as Evan Demorest/EM Demorest) announced that he will be retiring from professional wrestling. Demorest made this announcement this afternoon in a Twitter thread (found below), citing a 2019 knee injury as a primary reason for his departure from the ring. In this thread he also listed other ailments, such as nerve damage and memory loss that could further damage his wellbeing if he continued to wrestle.

Demorest has performed for companies such as Chikara, Game Changer Wrestling, and Limitless Wrestling. He also built up a body of work in the backyard throughout his life, which can be found on his YouTube channel. His final match came during Camp Leapfrog’s block on Fight Forever. Matt competed in the 2021 Cibernetico Match as a member of A Very Good Professional Wrestling Team; being eliminated seventh by Boomer Hatfield. This coming weekend, Matt was scheduled to take part in Sean Henderson’s Weekend at Sean’s 2, taking on Dyln McKay on Night 1. A replacement has yet to be named.

We here at PWPonderings sincerely thank him for his work in wrestling and wish him well on his future outside of the ring.

  1. This sucks to hear but for the benefit of his health and well-being I am happy for him. I had very high hopes for Demorest in Chikara until the shit hit the fan. I was also very concerned for him at fight forever during the cibernetico match. Good luck to Demorest!
