An interpromotional title fight between Lio Rush and Laredo Kid headlined this week’s Fusion. Tonight’s episode also saw ACH take on Brian Pillman Jr., the return of Calvin Tankman and much more. Footage of this evening’s Fusion can be viewed by watching the video below:

Strong Points of the Show

  • The way Team Filthy slowly moved closer to ringside during the opening match well done. I loved how all three men took their time with approaching the ring because it helped add an element of suspense while ACH and Pillman battled each other.
  • I like that Brian Pillman Jr. was able to get some offense in during his match. Especially since the last time he was in action he was pretty quickly defeated by Mil Muertes.
  • Zenshi did a great job of selling and making Tankman look like a machine during their match. Additionally, I like that Zenshi was made to look somewhat strong by kicking out of a few pinfalls.
  • Josef Samael cut a good promo tonight. There wasn’t anything necessarily new that was said. However, I still enjoyed Samael’s presence and intensity while he addressed Alex Hammerstone and Injustice.
  • I was pleasantly surprised by the finish of tonight’s main event. I was so sure that the match would end inconclusively due to some sort of heel tactics by Rush. I am glad to say, though, that I was wrong.

Weak Points of the Show

  • ACH and Pillman’s match seemed to drag a little bit towards the end. Otherwise I thought both men put on a good match.
  • Tom Lawlor’s exit from the brawl that erupted following the opening match was a little sloppy unfortunately. It appeared to be mistiming on the part of him, the Von Erichs and ACH.
  • The reverse hurricarana spot in the match between Zenshi and Tankman made me extremely nervous. Thankfully Calvin is so strong and was able to hold onto Zenshi. However, things could have gone very wrong had either man messed up their timing.
  • There has been a lot announced for next week’s Filthy Island episode. Which makes me nervous because I can see MLW trying to squeeze in too much during the hour, which could then lead to everything feeling too rushed (similar to what had happened during Kings of Colosseum).
  • I don’t like that Lio Rush didn’t hold up the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship during his post match promo. Lio had just won the title, yet he made little to mention of that. He instead mostly talked about the World Middleweight Championship. The fact that Rush did not reference his newest championship slightly diminished his win for me.

Match Results

  • ACH defeated Brian Pillman Jr. via pinfall.
  • Calvin Tankman defeated Zenshi via pinfall.
  • CONTRA (Simon Gotch and Daivari) vs. Injustice (Myron Reed and Jordan Oliver) ended in a no contest.
  • Interpromotional Title Fight: Lio Rush defeated Laredo Kid to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
