The feud between the Von Erichs and Team Filthy came to a head in a Chain Ropes tag team main event match on tonight’s Fusion. In addition to the chain ropes match, Mil Muertes squared off with Gringo Loco. Calvin Tankman faced off against a member of CONTRA. And in the opening match, Gino Medina took on Zenshi. The latest edition of Fusion can be viewed by watching the video below:

Strong Points of the Show

  • Josef Samael cut a great promo to open this week’s show. Samael conveyed a great sense of frustration and irritation when talking about Injustice and Calvin Tankman. The visual effects that accompanied his promo further enhanced the eerie tone of this segment.
  • Zenshi and Gino Medina put on an enjoyable, back-and-forth match. Although the outcome of the match was not surprising, I appreciate that both men got in a considerable amount of offense.
  • The ring introduction for Gringo Loco was awesome. I don’t know if I’ve missed the ring announcer’s pronunciation of Gringo Loco’s name in the past. However, it stood out to me tonight and the announcer did a great job of introducing Loco.
  • Tonight’s main event was well done. All four men beat the tar out of each other and made the best of the unique match stipulation.
  • The promo for next week’s Never Say Never event was done well. The highlight reel did a great job of recapping the feud between CONTRA, Injustice and Tankman.

Weak Points of the Show

  • I hope that Medina can come up with a new name for his finisher. Eat Defeat is a great name, but it was also the name of Gail Kim’s finisher for many years. Going forward I would like to see Gino come up with his own name to differentiate his finishing move, which is different than Gail’s.
  • Not sure why Salina de la Renta pulled on Gringo’s beard when the referee was distracted by Muertes. It would have been more effective and less awkward had she slapped Gringo or raked his eyes.
  • Normally I appreciate longer matches. Yet the match between Gringo Loco and Mil Muertes seemed to drag on for a little longer than necessary. I am glad that Gringo got some offense in. But I don’t think the match needed to last as long as it did.
  • I am glad that Alexander Hammerstone showed more frustration in this week’s interview. But I still believe that Hammerstone not hunting down Muertes makes him look weak. He’s letting someone else hold his title which does not make sense to me.
  • The brawl between Tankman, Injustice and CONTRA came across weird. It makes sense that Tankman hit Daivari with his finisher. Yet with no one else around, it felt weird. I would have preferred to see Fatu standing on stage looking intimidated as opposed to him going backstage with Jordan Oliver.

Match Results

  • Gino Medina defeated Zenshi via pinfall.
  • Mil Muertes defeated Gringo Loco via pinfall.
  • Calvin Tankman defeated Zad (Sentai Death Squad Soldier) via pinfall.
  • Chain Ropes Match: The Von Erichs defeated Violence is Forever (Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini) via pinfall.
