Glory Pro Wrestling Presents Battle on Broadway took place on Saturday April 17th at the South Broadway Athletic Club in St. Louis, Missouri. This event can be watched on the Highspots Wrestling Network.

Ring announcer Ben Simon starts off the show by saying that AJ Gray injured his knee and will no longer defend his Crown of Glory Championship against Jake Something. Simon introduces Something to the ring. Something comes through the curtain with the Crown of Glory Championship belt. He says that he never lost the championship and AJ is not there tonight because he knew he couldn’t beat him. Something asks Ben to introduce him as the new Crown of Glory Champion. Ben says that the champion is still AJ Gray. Myron Reed enters the picture. Your main event of the evening is now Jake Something vs. Myron Reed. Something makes the match a Something Rules Match (aka Anything Goes).

 

Opening contest is a women’s match between Hyan and Allie Kat. Hyan works the left shoulder early in the match after a dropkick from the middle rope to Allie Kat’s arm. Allie tries to fight back but Hyan goes immediately back to the injured shoulder. Allie finds an opening but it doesn’t last long as Hyan goes back to the attack. Hyan gives Allie an airplane spin and turns it into a powerbomb but only gets a nearfall. Allie eventually finds an opening and hits a piledriver for the win. Solid opener with Allie fighting through the injured shoulder.

Second contest of the night is a tag team match between Chris Hendrix and ATM, known as No Role Modelz versus Technical Difficulties, Rahim De La Suede and Moses. Hendrix and Moses start off the match with some great technical wrestling. De La Suede makes a blind tag and they take control over the match. This doesn’t last long as Hendrix and ATM work over Moses for majority of the match, cutting him off from his corner. Moses hits a German suplex and this allows Moses to get the opening he needs to tag out to De La Suede. De La Suede comes into the match on fire. He hits a crazy twisting planca on both members of No Role Modelz. Follows up with a huge 450 on Hendrix but ATM breaks up the pinfall. The ending of the match comes when Moses hits a wheelbarrow German on ATM which included a knee to the face from De La Suede. Excellent tag team encounter from these two teams. De La Suede was especially impressive.

Third match of the evening sees Xavier Walker taking on Manders. Walker has a huge height advantage on Manders. Manders becomes in control of the match as both men are now outside the ring. Manders plays to the crowd too much and Walker takes advantage, sending Manders head first into the ring post. Walker is in control of the match now, wearing down Manders. Manders tries to come back but once again plays to the crowd too much. This allows Walker to lock in a sleeper hold. Manders finds an opening and hits a DDT on Walker. The momentum shifts to Manders’ favor until Walker hits a huge chokeslam but only gets a nearfall. Manders comes back with a huge lariat to pick up the victory. Another solid match.

Next up is WARHORSE battling Arik Cannon. The match starts off quick as WARHORSE tries to lock in a side headlock on Cannon and receives a Saito Suplex. He follows up with a neckbreaker and a superkick. WARHORSE comes back with a lariat and a piledriver. Cannon rolls to the outside where he gains the advantage. Later on in the match both men are on the outside once again Cannon hits Total Anarchy (spinning neckbreaker) from the apron to the hardwood floor. Cannon takes control of the match for a bit. Both competitors simultaneously hit eachother with clotheslines and both men are down. Both men are to their feet as they trade strikes in the middle of the ring. A desperate Cannon tries to pick up a victory with his feet on the ropes but WARHORSE kicks out. WARHORSE fires back and hits an elbow drop off the top rope. This only gets a two count. WARHORSE attempts a double stomp off the top but Cannon pushes the referee into the ropes. Cannon distracts the ref again and hits a low blow to WARHORSE. He follows up with Total Anarchy to pick up the victory. As WARHORSE likes to say, this match ruled ass.

Post match Allie Kat comes out to help WARHORSE back to his feet. They celebrate in the middle of the ring with some headbanging until Allie hits WARHORSE with a piledriver. She then wipes off the makeup from his face.

In a backstage interview she says that being a character doesn’t get the job done anymore. She is no longer Allie Kat but is now Allie Katch.

Four way action up next between Paco, Kody Lane, Seishin and Ethan Price. Crowd shows their hatred for Paco. As you would expect, there was a ton of action in this contest. Paco tries to pick up the win after a code red to Price but Seishin breaks it up. She is on fire until Kody Lane kills her momentum. He starts to become cocky but rightfully so. He hits a powerbomb on Paco and follows up with an insane one legged step up lionsault. Seishin almost picks up the win with a pinfall on Price but it’s broken up with a huge senton from Lane. Price hits a double German suplex on Seishin and Lane. While in the pinfall position, Paco hits a splash off the top rope and steals the victory. Non stop action in this 4way match with Kody Lane being the stand out.

Next bout is Everett Connors vs Dan The Dad. Dan hits a huge stalling suplex. Connors comes back with a dive and a slingshot DDT inside in. Dan gets back into the contest with a fisherman’s suplex. This doesn’t last long as Connors hits a superkick and a sliced bread. This only gets a nearfall. Connors follows up a destroyer DDT and a hanging piledriver. This also somehow only gets a nearfall. A backpack stunner from Dan only gets a two count. Dan attempts a dive but is met with a superkick. Connors ends up hurting his knee and Dan locks in a figure four to get the submission victory. Really fun contest between the two.

A future Crown of Glory Championship match is on the line with Mat Fitchett squaring off against Mike Outlaw. A back and forth contest between the two. Fitchett challenges Outlaw with some slaps to Outlaw’s face. This fires up Outlaw and he hits some nasty chops. Fitchett ends up hitting a dive on his opponent. Attempts another one but is caught and is slammed onto the ring apron. Fitchett later hits a frogsplash for only a nearfall. He then locks in a crossface. Outlaw rolls out of it. A Liger bomb from Fitchett only gets a two count. Fitchett immediately locks in a STF. Outlaw is able to get to the ropes. Both men trade shots and Outlaw ends it with a huge lariat. The momentum of the match goes back and forth but ends when Outlaw gets a pinfall victory out of nowhere. This was a really well wrestled matchup.

It is now time for the main event of the evening. Jake Something comes out wearing the Crown of Glory Championship despite not being the current champion. Myron Reed uses his speed advantage. Reed brings a steel chair into play. The momentum goes to the side of Something and he brings out a table from underneath the ring. Reed gets back into it and hits a big tope suicida. Later on Something ends up pulling the referee in the way and Reed accidentally nails him. Reed hits a hanging flatliner into a chair. He gets the visual pin but the ref is down. Something hits Reed with the championship. Reed appears to be out but he kicks out at two. Reed sends Something to the outside and hits a dive over the ropes. Something hits his head on the edge of the table. Reed hits a series of cutters but Something is somehow able to kick out. Something hits a pounce and sends Reed into a chair set up in the corner. He follows up with a black hole slam and Something picks up the pinfall victory. The crowd is not happy. Really good main event to cap off a great show.

Overall: This was Glory Pro Wrestling’s return and it was a very successful one at that. Battle on Broadway was really good show with every match delivering. There were zero weak points in the entire 2.5 hours. Overall, this might be one of Glory Pro’s best shows ever.
