~JZ Says~

ROH opened with tag team action, as the Soldiers of Savagery (SOS) took on the relatively new tandem of Dalton Castle & Dak Draper. Kaun and Moses came out with their ROH World Six-Man Title belts, but without their leader Shane Taylor. SOS did a good job isolating Draper and keeping Castle out of the ring, and they put Draper away with an elevated DDT. Good showing for Kaun and Moses, and it was nice to see them on their doing well without Taylor. After the match, ROH World Tag Team Champions Dragon Lee & Kenny King come out and attack SOS, as King is no doubt trying to get into Taylor’s head to further their feud. When the champs take their leave, SOS recover enough to get on the mic and challenge the champs for a title match.

Three of the top women in the division squared off in a triple threat contenders match – Angelina Love, Miranda Alize, and Willow. The winner of this match will go on to face the winner of another triple threat match, and the winner of THAT match will face Rok-C for the Women’s Title at Final Battle. Got all that? This was good fun, with Love and Alize briefly working together to try and neutralize Willow. Of course, that doesn’t last long, as both wrestlers want to win the match. Wrestlers caring about winning wrestling matches, that’ll never work am I right? Anyway, Love hits Alize with the Botox Injection, and then Willow surprises Love with a roll-up to get the pin. I thought Alize or Love would go over here, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it go to Willow. It should be interesting to see who she faces in the number one contender’s match in a few weeks.

ROH World Champion Bandido was in action for the main event, teaming with Rey Horus to face the biggest dorks on the roster, the OGK. I actually think Bennett and Taven make a fine tag team, they’re just not the least bit cool. Taven’s catchphrase is particularly cringe inducing. They have a nice little tag team match, and the OGK get the win with a Taven kick / Bennett backpack stunner combo on Horus. That’s the second straight tag match that Bandido and Horus have lost, and even though Horus has taken the fall in both, I question having the World Champion being on the losing end that much.

The Week by Week match was the Six-Man Title match from Death Before Dishonor, but the women’s match was fresh content, featuring Alex Gracia and Laynie Luck against the unorthodox duo of Willow and Holidead. They follow the tag team formula pretty well and built up to a hot closing stretch. Willow got Luck alone and hit her with a sitout gut-wrench powerbomb to get the pin. Since Willow is one of the top contenders to the Women’s Title, it was the right call to have her score the pin.

NEXT WEEK – Dragon Lee & Kenny King defend the ROH World Tag Team Titles against Soldiers of Savagery, and The Foundation takes on Eli Isom, Rust Taylor, World Famous CB & Joe Keys in eight-man tag team action.
