The season finale of Night Moves features a match for the Enjoy Championship. The current champion, MV Young, has his biggest and strongest test to date in Max the Impaler. This match is a Pittsburgh Street fight, which means anything goes. Max is joined by Amy Rose, who has managed multiple champions in ROH. Max comes out to applause from the fans, but the hometown MV Young comes out to “Renegade”, which is the song that the Steelers use to pump up the crowd. Nick Shin is given the unenviable job of trying to control these 2 competitors, but since it is a street fight he is only really there to count to three.

MV does not accept the handshake from Amy Rose and Max attacks MV to start the match. They quickly go to the outside. MV hits a kick on a seated Max, then tries a running knee strike, but Max catches him and throws him through multiple rows of chairs. The crowd has cleared and Max and MV fight through the chairs. They make it back toward the ring and Max knocks MV’s head into the ring post and grabs a door from under the ring. MV hits a running drop kick, slamming Max into the door, but it does not break. He tries to get Max up, but Max is too strong, and they whip MV into the door, this time it does break underneath him.

Max picks up a piece of the door and smashes it into MV’s head. They then throw another piece of the door at him. They return to the ring and Max chokes MV until MV drops his weight back, putting Max in a pinning position and forcing them to break the choke.

MV takes the advantage and hits a missile dropkick from the top rope. He then hits a running dropkick and forearm on Max in the corner, followed by a running forearm on a downed Max, but only gets a 1 count. MV throws a piece of door at Max, then sets up some chairs in the ring. He hits a superkick which forces Max on a chair. MV sits in a chair of his own and they have a bar fight. Max gets the striking advantage until MV bites them and hits a running knee strike. Then hits a choke slam on the chair, and these are not folding chairs, so there is no give.

Max then gives MV a curb stomp and goes for the pin, but MV kicks out at 2 and rolls out of the ring. Max follows him out and throws a piece of door at him and proceeds to punch him. They exchange strikes on the outside and MV grabs another door from under the ring. He sets up the door on 2 chairs and places Max on it. MV hits a double stomp onto Max from the apron, but the door doesn’t break. He sets up the door again, but it backfires on him as he gets chokeslamed through the door. Max throws a trash bag, with trash in it, at the ring. They then choke MV with the bag. They pick up the pieces of broken doors and start slamming one after another onto MV. Max goes for the pin, but MV somehow kicks out.

Max hits MV in the head with the door multiple times, but they only get a 2 count again. This causes Max to turn their attention to the referee Nick Shin, who probably should have just run, but instead gets a chokeslam from Max. MV drops Max to the mat with a toe hold and locks in an STF, but there is no ref. MV yells at the back and a ref comes out. Max goes for a chokeslam, but MV kicks their legs out and hits a running knee using the door to get the three count on Max. This was an incredible match by both individuals. You could say that MV was lucky to leave that match intact, let alone leave it with the championship.

The crowd chants for MV Young, but David Lawless comes out to ruin the moment. Lawless is a Pittsburgh lawyer and possibly the most hated person in Enjoy. He states that he is the Enjoy Cup holder, and technically he does hold the Enjoy Cup, even though Lee Moriarty won it. He goes on to say that he would like to add the Enjoy Championship. However, he is not going to be the one to challenge MV on the next show. It is going to be his hired hitman, Mr. Grim, who then attacks MV from behind.

The Neon Blondes come to the ring, followed by Savannah Evans, Erica Leigh, who decides to throw her shoe at Mr. Grim, and others from the locker room to break the 2 men up. Grim picks up one of the members of the Enjoy staff, drops them to the mat and puts the championship belt on him.

Mr. Grim will face MV Young for the championship on Enjoy’s next live taping on January 22nd at Mr. Smalls Theater in Pittsburgh. This is another great venue that I have attended many concerts at and should be a fantastic time.
