Day 3: Rise vs ICW NHB

Welcome to part 3 of the Rise/ICW shows from the 10-13th February. This show I missed a couple of matches so I just want to apologise in advance for that. I met Big Fn Joe and Lou Nixon before the show.

Akira vs Jonny Storm

This is a match to study. One of my favourite matches without including any weapons. The technical wrestling in this match is an absolute dream. I am thrilled I got to watch this in person. I admit that my knowledge of Jonny Storm isn’t fantastic but I genuinely really loved this match and I can’t wait to see it back. The crowd was alive for this match.

Iceman and Jack Harrop vs Michael Caden and John Wayne Murdoch

This started out as a triple threat between Michael Caden, John Wayne Murdoch and Iceman but Michael and JWM quickly decided that they would try and take out Iceman. Iceman had a plan though. He decided to make this a tag team match and bought down Jack Harrop. This was a great match and I highly recommend that you take the time to watch this match when it goes up it was a great match.

After the match there was a singalong with Jack and Iceman which I throughly enjoyed and I have a great clip of.

Big Fn Joe vs Kasey Catal

This started off as a bit of a dance off which the crowd seemed to thoroughly enjoy this but it soon ended after Kasey blasted Joe with some light tubes. This was violent and beautiful with many different weapons involved. Kasey is one of the toughest people I know. Big Fn Joe is someone who is absolutely brutal in the ring and I can’t wait to see more of what he does!

Eric Ryan vs Clint Margera (Taipei Terracot Match)

I’m not sure if this match type has been done before but this was very unique and there was plant pots all across the ring floor too. This was brutal in ways I’ve not seen before even with the plant pots they still found a way to incorporate a lot of light tubes and blood involved. I struggled to see some of this match due to where I was stood at but this is definitely one I can’t wait to watch back.

During the interval I met up with Danny Demanto and we got the photo!

Leonardo Darwin vs Danny Demanto w/Mittens

This was the match I was so looking forward to. I saw one of the videos that Darwin did before the match and it peaked my interest as I didn’t know much about him throughout the weekend I got to understand more. As Danny made his entrance it felt a little weird to hear him get cheered as he had been booed throughout the weekend. Mittens accompanied Danny to the ring. Darwin came out to the ring and cut a scathing promo on Mittens and Danny. We may have been warned in advance that the lights were going to go out throughout the match and we might have had masks to put on. It was great being a little bit involved in the show. This was quite the match and I can’t wait to watch it back.

Overall:

I loved these shows a lot. I can’t wait to learn more about Rise. I have a bit of catching up to do. I hope to make it to G.O.D in May especially as ICW NHB are coming back. The tickets for this go on sale on Thursday. If people are interested in me talking about this then let me know and I’ll definitely do it. I’ve really enjoyed writing this up and I really enjoyed the four shows in three days.
