Now that MLW War Chamber 23 is in the books, we’ll take a look at some of the big news and takeaways coming out of the event.

Jacob Fatu wins another MLW title:

Jacob Fatu along with Alex Hammerstone have been the faces of MLW for quite sometime. It makes perfect sense to put the National Openweight Championship on him if he is not going to be the World Champion.

Although Taya Valkyrie and Sam Adonis tried to interfere in the match. Delmi Exo and the Samoan SWAT Team came down to level the playing field. Fatu pinned John Hennigan to become new champ, in what was easily the match of the night!

Delmi Exo becomes new face of Women’s Division:

With Taya Valkyrie signing to AEW, it was a forgone conclusion that Valkyrie would be dropping to Women’s Featherweight Championship. MLW couldn’t have picked a better name than Delmi Exo! While John Hennigan was at ringside trying to run interference at times, Delmi Exo battled through the interface to pin the champion.

Credit has to be given to Taya Valkyrie for being the inaugural Women’s Champion and helping build this Women’s Division. With new and young talent now signing with MLW, the future looks bright for the Women’s Division. Delmi Exo is one of those young talents that can help continue building this division and picking up where Taya left off.

Akira becomes new Middleweight Champion:

It was advertised on the card as Lio Rush facing champion Lince Dorado for the MLW Middleweight Championship. Akira and The Calling had different plans however. Akira came down with Raven and the Gas Masked Henchmen from The Calling. They attacked Dorado as he was being announced.

Lio Rush came out with the Middleweight Championship that he stole from Dorado. He address Akira and said being he had the belt, he makes the rules. If a triple threat match is what is wanted, then a triple threat match they will get.

This backfired on Lio Rush, as Akira with The Calling by his side, picks up the win to become new champion.

Mandy Leon makes her MLW debut:

Mandy Leon made her long awaited debut at MLW War Chamber and she was not alone! She came down to the ring with The Calling. It appears Raven found his newest member of The Calling.

The Samoan SWAT Team remain MLW Tag Team Champs:

Lance Anoa’i & Juicy Finau successfully defended their tag titles against The FBI & Mane Event, in what was a fun and actioned packed triple threat match.

Opening Round of Opera Cup kicks off:

Davey Boy Smith Jr. and “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams were both successful in the first round of the Opera Cup Tournament.

Hammerstone leaves War Chamber injured:

The main event consisted of Alex Hammerstone & the Second Gear Crew taking on The Calling. During the match Alex Hammerstone appears to have legitimately hurt his leg. He was unable to stand on it, and needed officials to come to the ring to help him to the back, while the match was going on.

While the injury has not been confirmed by Hammerstone or MLW, the injury appeared to be real and not part of the storyline. We will provide more details as the emerge.

The Calling went on to beat the Second Gear Crew, which turned into a 4 on 3 handicap match once Hammerstone left. Even though The Calling were victorious, it appears the feud is not over between them and the Second Gear Crew.
