At last year’s IWTV State of the Independents, AC Mack revealed a new set of Independent Wrestling Tag Team Championships. This year in the second annual State of the Independents, a number of things were addressed.

Before the premiere, IWTV had tweeted out “We’ve been listening…and we’re ready to give you some answers.” Well, we got plenty of answers. Here’s a recap of this year’s State of the Independents.

Avery Good has been named director of IWTV Championship Committee. He states that he’s been listening to the people and the complaints, and that the title has not been making the rounds as it once did. The title doesn’t have the glitz and glamor that it once did. He makes the final decision when the committee can’t come to a decision.

Avery Good will crown an undisputed Independent Wrestling World Championship. Calls Matt Tremont the disputed World Champion.

Says no one ever knocked Krule off his pedestal. But says it’s Krule’s own fault that he’s no longer champion. He states, the office called Krule five times and those calls went unanswered. “Your professionalism cost you the Independent Heavyweight Wrestling Championship.”

Suggests Krule get a manager to deal with the office part of the job. Tells Krule to get that all in order and he would love to give him a title shot.

The championships, both the Independent Wrestling World Championship and Tag Team Championships, must be defended every 90 days. If a champion gets a major injury, they will be stripped of the title.

Avery Good questions how Matt Tremont won the championship. Says he got lucky by drawing the last entry in the gauntlet match at Wrestival. He defeated Priest who had already gone through multiple opponents in that match. “For me to sit here and say you’ve earned that title, would be a lie.”

“You didn’t beat Krule, you didn’t even win it in a singles, straight up, one-on-one, mono y mono type of match. No, luck played a huge role in you earning that title.”

Matt Tremont himself said that he would be healthy enough to defend the title on July 10th. Avery Good says Tremont already gets home field advantage, so Tremont doesn’t get to pick his opponent, Avery will. He will make the announcement very soon.

Avery Good says he’s a busy man so he needs promoters to help him out. He asks promoters to send him clips, matches and recommendations on who should get a shot at the title(s).

The same invitation go for the tag titles. He doesn’t want the titles defended solely at Wrestling Open on Thursdays.

The video ends with Avery saying, “Give me some time, give me some help. Together we will create the independent wrestling scene that we can all be proud of.”

Author’s opinion: Overall, I’m excited for these changes going forward. Hope that means that both the IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship and the Independent Wrestling Tag Team Championships are defended more frequently and across the globe.
