I recently had the opportunity to speak to TJ Crawford ahead of his epic one-on-one match against former teammate turned bitter rival, Ryan Clancy. These two will do battle in the finals of Wrestling Open’s Grand Prix Tournament.
Crawford opened up and became emotional about his feelings for Ryan Clancy and why he did what he did back in June of last year. He also spoke about what winning the Grand Prix tournament means and what’s in store for Big Business in 2024.
You’ve been doing a great job at Wrestling Open. Can you talk about the Grand Prix Tournament and being in the finals?
TJ: It’s been a long tournament that started with 24 people. I had to go through Gabe Skye, Rex Lawless, Bobby Orlando, and Tyree Taylor! Now I go back to face my old tag team partner from 2023 of the Fancy Snipers.
I hate Ryan Clancy more than anyone in the wrestling industry! When we teamed, he constantly tried to be on top and hold me back! That’s why even our name Fancy Snipers, he wanted to put himself first. At the time, I didn’t know where my career was going at Wrestling Open, and I kind of just took a back seat.
I then got a chance to wrestle Brad Hollister & after the match, he pulled me aside and gave me the idea about Big Business. It was the perfect thing at the time and still is to this day.
I have zero regrets about kicking Ryan Clancy in the head; I wish I had done it sooner, to be honest! It’s been the craziest year between him and me, and now we go one-on-one for the first time since I turned my back on him. People will say that, but I don’t necessarily see it that way. But I’ll just say he wanted to do it for himself. I will do more than kick him in the head this time!
So this is personal for you?
TJ: Yeah, and I know people will say they’re probably friends backstage. No, we are not! We are not friends backstage, and we’re not friends that go out to eat. I don’t like him! I hate him more than probably anyone I’ve ever hated in professional wrestling!
I’m 100% going into this match to win the Jumbo Grand Prix tournament, face Wrestling Open Champion Brad Hollister, and show why Big Business runs the show.
Big Business has made its presence known in Beyond Wrestling & Wrestling Open as of late. It is a four-group faction consisting of TJ Crawford, Brad Hollister, & Brick City Boyz (Victor Chase & Julio Cruz).
I agree with you that Big Business will have a big 2024, just by how it started and the reasons you said.
TJ: Big Business will take over the world. We already started! I talk about Ryan, and I get (pause), so I apologize about that. Big Business, we are definitely going to take over the world in 2024!
