In TurnbuckleTimes’ exclusive interview with Amity LaVey, LaVey spoke with Scott Mitchell about her Wrestivus weekend, including her match on Saturday at BST with Vita VonStarr and Sammi Chaos against Gabby Forza, Jazmyne Hao, & Lili Ruiz, and her tag match with Sammi Chaos on Sunday at WWR+ against the WWE ID Women’s Champion, Laynie Luck, & Allie Katch. She also spoke about her upcoming shows at TCW, Rising Stars of Women’s Wrestling, and much more. You can watch the interview with the “Doctor’s Favorite Patient” down below in its entirety.
Your weekend kicks off on Saturday as you travel to BST to team up with the Awakening in full force, with Sammi Chaos & Vita Von Starr to face off with Gabby Forza, Jazmyne Hao, & Lili Ruiz. What is your mindset heading into this show?
Just looking at my competitors, I mean, come on… Everyone saw what Sammi and I did to Gnomie, and Gnomie’s going to be the big, strong one in the match. She’s going to come in and destroy everyone, until Sammi comes in, and then she’s done… My sisters, I’ve missed them so much. I’m not worried. The other two, I beat Jazmyne Hao by myself; I can do it with my arms tied behind my back. Lili, lil fishy, Pesce, that’s how we say it in Italian. I don’t like Pesce, I don’t eat it. I’m allergic to it. So, bye-bye. Gnomie, like I just said, we flattened her. Now we have Vita, it’s not just Sammi and I. Sammi and I took care of her. With Vita, we can take care of all three.”
While that might be the only time this weekend we see The Awakening in full force, you will also be having a tag match at WWR+ on Sunday, as you team up with Sammi Chaos to face off with Laynie Luck and Allie Katch. What is your mindset heading into this one?
“So, I’m so excited for this one. I wanted to get my hands on Allie for a while, just because I like the way she looks. We like her. I think she’d be fun; she looks like a fun toy to play with. And Laynie, Miss Champion, she’s someone that I feel I would look great pinning. It would look great for my resume, right? … The headline ‘Amity LaVey Pins WWE ID Women’s Champion, Laynie Luck’ sounds amazing to me. So, if that happens to happen, then obviously we know, it’s a tag match, so it’s nothing… Clout? You know? That’d be nice. I’m sure Sammi would appreciate it too. Maybe Sammi can pin her. Maybe Sammi can pin her, and I can sit on top of Sammi while pinning her, and we can have a nice picture moment. That’d be so cute. We should do that.”
Kind of going hand in hand with WWR+, Rising Stars is yet another all-women’s promotion. The importance of this cannot be understated. But, how special is it for you to continue to build up women’s wrestling as a whole?
“Definitely important. We finally have a platform, and everyone knows that it’s been ‘oh, a women’s match, bathroom break, concessions break.’ Like, no, no. Sit in your seat. Sit your ass down, pay attention, and learn something about the sport. You know what? Women’s wrestling is so much better than it used to be. It’s not WWE divas with their thongs sticking out of their pants. Yeah, sure, some girls have that look, and that’s great. But that’s not what we do anymore. That’s been something that for years, even in the WWE, for years, how long have the Horsewomen been around? All of these women who started it off, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Bayley’s doing her own thing too with Lodestone. We’re up. We’re on the rise. Pay attention to us.”
