This is the first year that we have had a separate women’s Futures tournament. There have been women in the Futures tournament before, but not a tournament completely made up of women. Previously, Billie Starkz had made it to the finals in 2021, Rachel Armstrong won the tournament in 2023, Mackenzie Morgan took part in 2024, and both Saraya Saber and Aminah Balmont took part in 2025.
One of the favorites of the tournament, Ashlyn Alexander, had to pull out of the tournament, due to illness, so that will open the tournament up even more.
The first match is a three-way between Davina Thorne, Ravenna Vein and Gwen Neodonna. Davina and Ravenna faced off against each other in a show stealing casket match on Thursday. As for Gwen, she has become one of my favorite wrestlers to watch, as she is really exciting and fun to watch. This was a great match that showcased all three of the women and was possibly the best match of the tournament. Ravenna used some of her vampire baddie skills to get the pin on Davina to advance to the finals.
The second match is Clara Carter, Sigrid, and Riley Judah, who is replacing Ashlyn Alexander. As the alternate in the match Riley is the underdog, and had the most to prove in this match. I think she showed that she deserved to be in the ring with two of the best. Clara shows her usual arrogance, which does not work out well for her to open the match. Clara may not be the biggest or quickest person in the match, but she always seems to be a step or two ahead of her opponents. Sigrid is very much the strongest person in this match, but she gets taken down by Riley, who is given a pile driver by Clara Carter, who advances to the finals.
The final first round match is Corrine Joy, Vivian Cross, and Alexandra Quinn. Joy is definitely a top young star, having had a match of the year canadate against Billie Starkz at Girl Fight Wrestling. Quinn is a AR Fox student who has ben impressing all around the south and beyond. Cross just looks terrifying. All three of these women are showing off their athleticism. I have not seen Cross before, but am quickly becoming a fan. The thing about Quinn is she seems super sweet and cute, but she shows off her power when she is mad and needs to. Joy gets that win in a very competitive match, as Quinn looked to have it won with a power bomb, but Joy sneaks in and gets pin with a crucifix pin.
This leaves the finals at Corrine Joy, Clara Carter and Ravenna Vein. This is a match that certainly does not lack attitude, personality, and athleticism.
Before the finals we have a non-tournament match, that pits Kasey Owens and Mckenzie Morgan against Chase Holliday and Joseline Navarro. Morgan and Navaro are two women that continue to prove that they are some of the best wrestlers in the country. Morgan gets the best of Chase and Joseline comes into the match. Morgan keeps the advantage until Chase and Navarro show they are the more seasoned tag team. After fighting from behind most of the match, Owens and Morgan pick up the win after Owen crashes into Morgan as she is being held by Chase and she gets the pin.
The main event is the match to crown to first ever Women’s Futures Champion. Clara Carter is met with a lot of animosity from the crowd, while Vein is the crowd favorite. Joy comes out with her diva vibes and all business. Vein gets taken out on the outside of the ring, as she is broken in half with a powerbomb on the ring apron. However Vein comes back in the ring, like the vampire baddie that she is, after Joy and Clara exchange suplexes. Clara and Joy simultaneously put submissions on Vein, but she will not give up. Ravenna comes up with enough strength to hit a spear on Joy, after Joy hit a frog splash on Clara. She picks up the win. The crowd chants “You deserve it” and “That’s our baddie” to end the show.
This was a great tournament that showcased a ton of up-and-coming female wrestlers. One of the few wrestlers that I had not seen before was Vivian Cross. In a match that included two absolute stars, she really caught my eye. She came out with a baseball bat, looking like a bad ass, but also had some of the most innovative moves of the tournament.
The finals did not only include three future stars, but three women that could headline almost any independent company in the country. Joy, Clara, and Ravena should be on big matches, in promotions all over the country.
