We have a new PROGRESS Women’s World Champion!
At PROGRESS Wrestling’s big event, “Chapter 196: Scorchio!,” Alexxis Falcon put her PROGRESS Women’s World Championship on the line against the former two-time champion, Rhio. Rhio made history by defeating Falcon and becoming a three-time PROGRESS Women’s World Champion. She did so in pretty dominant fashion, as well, continuing to show that she is the mountaintop for the women’s wrestling in not just PROGRESS Wrestling, but the UK independent wrestling scene as a whole.
Falcon held the title for 182 days, first winning it from Rayne Leverkusen in January. She went on to defeat Rhio, Mercedes Martinez, and Violet Nyte to keep her reign going. However, she ran into a roadblock at today’s show that she couldn’t get past.
Before making history, Rhio was tied with Jinny and Kanji as the only two-time PROGRESS Women’s World Champions that the company has ever seen. During her first two reigns, Rhio has held the title for a collective 609 days, comprising 434 days in her first run with the title and 175 days in her second. Rhio’s 434-day reign is second only to Jinny’s second reign with the title, during which she held the title for a whopping 482 days.
If history is any indication, we may be in for yet another dominant run for one of the strongest and most dominant women on the entire UK independent scene. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride, and good luck to the women’s division at PROGRESS Wrestling. If you want to get this title away from Rhio, you’re going to need it.
