The main event of the show saw Joseph Sawyer, fka WWE’s Joe Gacy, square off with Javi in an emotional match.
We also saw Charles Mason, accompanied by CPA, put his Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship on the line against Sammy Diaz; Amity LaVey faced off with Jose Zamora, the Ancestral City Shooters put their Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships on the line against Miracle Generation; Bobby Orlando meets Andy Brown in a Last Man Standing match; Dolphin Funeral faces off with The Thirst; Angelo Carter puts his Blitzkrieg! Pro Jensen Championship on the line against the winner of a Battle Royal, and TJ Crawford and Devious Cass open the show with a bang. Check out the full recap and review below.
Kickoff: Angel Aviles def. Michael Mistretta
The pre-show match of the show saw Angel Aviles make his Blitzkrieg! Pro debut against Michael Mistretta. This was a fun little kickoff match to really set the tone for the night. Very quick, but an absolutely fantastic showing for Aviles. Aviles got the win here over Mistretta, his first at Blitzkrieg! Pro.
Aviles looks wise beyond his years. He’s not only a very talented worker in the ring, but he also has a confidence about him that, frankly, he shouldn’t have yet. That’s the ultimate compliment too. His confidence, character work, and in-ring talent are all fantastic for someone his age, with his experience. Look out for him doing some amazing things.
TJ Crawford def. Devious Cass
The opening match of the main show saw TJ Crawford, who is one of the best in-ring workers around today, go one-one-one with somebody who I consider to be the best young gun around today, Devious Cass. Cass was the fan favorite in this one. He has been tested many times in his early days with Blitzkrieg! Pro, especially recently when he went to war and had a match-of-the-year contender with Sammy Diaz. This match started fast as Crawford hit a running dropkick on Cass, taking him out as soon as the bell rang. This match was truly 100 mph from the opening bell and had no signs of slowing down until the final bell rang. This was damn near the perfect way to open the show. The action was simply phenomenal. Cass even hit a beautiful cutter from the rope on TJ Crawford, which saw him hit a little twist in the air. Just breaking out moves like that is a normal thing for Cass. Wild. However, in the end, Crawford used some underhanded moves to hit Cass in the groin with the middle rope after faking an injury. He landed a buzzsaw kick on Cass to win the match
Crawford may have used some underhanded tactics, but don’t let that fool you. He is still one of the absolute best wrestlers, bell-to-bell, around today. He is someone who doesn’t always get the love, adoration, and flowers that he deserves. But he is really such a special talent. As for Cass, a lot of the same can be said about him. The only difference is he’s much younger than a talent like Crawford, who’s an established veteran. Cass is about to take the wrestling world by storm, though. He is such an amazing talent. He can hold his own with whoever you put in front of him, and look good doing it. Look out for the name Devious Cass; I promise you he’s going to be taking over this world sooner rather than later. Jump on his bandwagon now; it’s about to become massive in the next few years. Get ready to know “America’s Author.”
I had a chance to speak with Devious Cass after the match and get his thoughts on all that transpired:
On How He’s Feeling: “I’m doing great. After the loss to TJ, I think I made a good representation on what I have to bring to Blitzkrieg! Pro. I’m feeling pretty good.”
On Working With TJ Crawford: “Pain in the butt. I don’t want to curse but he was such a pain in the ass. Just to go against him. He’s always moving around and he’s such a great wrestler down the east coast. I know I had a banger with him and I wish I could win, but I know coming back here, I’m definitely going to have a win sooner or later under my belt and I can’t wait.”
On TJ Crawford using some under handed tactics to win: “Yeah, honestly bro, I’m not going to lie to you, using the ropes to cheat. I know I’m that damn good, but you don’t have too use to cheat on me. But hey, a win is a win, and I’m not putting nothing by it. I respect TJ to that level. I hope next time we have a match, TJ make sure you’re ready, because next time I’m not going to play fair either.”
Future Goals at Blitzkrieg! Pro: “Future goals. I’m ready to be World Champion. Heavyweight Champion. I’m just waiting for the moment. They’ve been putting me against guys who have already been champion here, so when I get the opportunity to go against them, to go against the World Champion, whether that’s (Charles) Mason, or anybody else, I’m going to make sure to make another statement like I did on my debut match.”
Blitzkrieg! Pro Battle Royal: Logan Black last eliminates Perry Von Vicious to immediately earn a shot at Angelo Carter’s Jensen Championship
This match featured a lot of up-and-coming stars who were in attendance for Joseph Sawyer’s (fka WWE’s Joe Gacy) seminar before the show, as well as some of the veterans who have been around the block a time or two. Just some of these names included Perry Von Vicious, Ace Diamond, Tommy Heartfelt, Angel Jacquez, Logan Black, Rain Conway, Nikki Winters, Stan Michael, and Ash Bennett, amongst many others. This was a fun battle royal which opened up my eyes to some names I wasn’t too familiar with. It was very funny to see Bennett spending almost half the match on the outside, sitting with the fans and taking occasional cheap shots. The final five were Brett Metro, Perry Von Vicious, Ash Bennett, Logan Black, and Stan Michael. In the end, it came down to Logan Black and Perry Von Vicious. Chants of “F**K ICE!” broke out, as Black is notorious for wearing gear that says “F**K ICE!” and it was so much fun to be there live for that. The match concluded with Black dodging a big boot from Perry Von Vicious and hitting him with a discus elbow, sending him to the floor.
I had the chance to speak with Perry Von Vicious following the match to get his thoughts on the events that took place:
His mindset entering the battle royal: “I want to get back to the Jensen Championship. But honestly, Logan, Angelo, they’re so good. So good. There’s no shame in losing to Logan Black.”
If the Jensen Championship is still on his mind: “Absolutely it is. Yes. I was the first one to hold that belt and I’d love to hold it again.”
Future goals at Blitzkrieg! Pro: “I’ve never held the Bedlam Championship. So, it’s something to think about.”
This match was as good as I thought it would be. I thought the booking was fantastic as it gave everyone a chance to shine, but it got some of the lesser-known names out fairly quickly. I love the fact that it came down to Logan Black and Perry Von Vicious. I thought for sure PVV was going to win, but I wasn’t mad that Logan Black got the win here. Black has been doing such an amazing job at helping to build the next generation of wrestlers at T2T in Long Island City. He’s someone who is severely underrated. He doesn’t have a ton of titles or accomplishments on paper, but he is definitely someone who is just beyond valuable to any promotion. He deserved this win. As for Perry Von Vicious, it’s always incredible seeing him do his thing. He’s truly a timeless wonder. I’m a big fan of Perry, and he’s such a likeable guy. Loved everything about this battle royal.
Blitzkrieg! Pro Jensen Championship: Angelo Carter (c) def. Logan Black to retain the Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship
No rest for the weary. Right after the battle royal ended, Black got his Blitzkrieg! Pro Jensen Championship match against his trainee, the champion, Angelo Carter. This marked Carter’s first defense of the title. The two engaged in chops, whereas the Blitzkrieg! Pro faithful were split right down the middle on who to cheer for. The match quickly spilled to the outside, where the two once again landed strong strikes on each other. Despite being the fresher competitor, Carter spent a lot of this match fighting from underneath. Black used his clear size advantage and experience advantage to stop Carter on all fronts. In the end, Carter locked in a crossface and turned it into a pinfall attempt that secured the three-count. After the match, the “Silver Sniper” TJ Crawford stared down Carter from the entranceway.
This match was super special. Not only was this a student vs. teacher match, but it also marked the first-ever defense of Angelo Carter for the Blitzkrieg! Pro Jensen Championship. This was a fantastic showing for Carter against one of his trainers, who has really helped to show him the ropes. Angelo Carter is someone who is finally getting the flowers that they desperately deserve. It’s about time that Carter holds gold in Blitzkrieg! Pro, and it’s extremely well-deserved. Despite being in a match right before this, Black was not going to go down easily. He really showed a great deal of grit, heart, and strength to take some of the shots that Carter dished out. As I said above, Black is truly one of the most underrated guys in the Northeast today. He’s invaluable wherever he goes. This is what makes T2T so amazing.
Dolphin Funeral (JuleZee & RULLO) def. The Thirst (Kelsey Raegan & Ravenna Vein)
Next up, we saw Dolphin Funeral’s JuleZee & RULLO face off with the debuting team in Blitzkrieg! Pro, The Thirst, Kelsey Raegan & Ravenna Vein. Raegan jawed with the crowd at the beginning of the match, as it was clear-cut that Dolphin Funeral were the fan favorites. We saw a very fun opening sequence that saw The Thirst scare the hell out of JuleZee as they did their creepy crawl into the ring. This was awesome, and so much fun. But when the action really started, we were even more impressed. These two teams had instant chemistry. Raegan distracted RULLO, which caused Vein to gain the upper hand. Raegan has so much fun when she’s in the ring; it’s almost infectious. However, don’t let that fool you; she will hit you hard. This was a blast of a tag match. In the end, Raegan accidentally spits mist in the eyes of her tag partner, Vein, and Dolphin Funeral capitalizes by hitting their finisher on Raegan and pinning her to win the match. After the match, Dolphin Funeral called out The Butcher And The Blade for the October Blitzkrieg! Pro show. This one is sure to be a good one.
After the match, I had the opportunity to speak with The Thirst about their Blitzkrieg! Pro debut:
On their mindset heading into this match:
Kelsey: “Mess everybody up. Beat everybody up.”
Ravenna: “Take a bite out of everyone. Bloodshed. I feel like we accomplished that.”
Kelsey: “I think we did a good job. I mean, they may have won but, we made a lasting impression.”
Ravenna: “We left a bite mark you could say.”
On their future goals at Blitzkrieg! Pro:
Kelsey: “Come back and mess everybody up.”
Ravenna: “Do the same thing. Keep doing the same thing.”
Kelsey: “Next time we’re going to win.”
Ravenna: “Win and get our hands raised at the end.”
Dolphin Funeral may be one of the most underrated teams around today. When I first saw them, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, since seeing them compete more and more, I have to say that I am a massive fan of them. When you see them walk to the ring, you definitely don’t think they’d go well together. However, when the bell rings, they have undeniable chemistry. Their opponents in this one, The Thirst, are two people that I was extremely happy to see in Blitzkrieg! Pro. Kelsey Raegan and Ravenna Vein are from the Southeast and frequent promotions like ACTION Wrestling, TWE, and many more top promotions around the Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida area. They are two of the most exciting and hardest workers. They own any room they walk into, and look fantastic doing it. Go check out both of these amazing teams; I promise you they will both be all over the tag scene in the United States on the independents very, very soon. Also, Dolphin Funeral vs. The Butcher And The Blade in October is about to go hard. Tag team wrestling is alive and well in Blitzkrieg! Pro.
Last Man Standing: Bobby Orlando def. Andy Brown
Andy Brown made his way out to the ring first, accompanied by the Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Champion, Charles Mason, and their newfound teammate, CPA. They were serenaded by boos from the Blitzkrieg! Pro faithful, before Mason and CPA headed to the back and Andy Brown went into this one alone. Bobby Orlando got the complete opposite reaction, as he was cheered from the get-go. This match started fast, as Orlando jumped Brown from behind before the match spilled over to the outside. The two brawled into the audience as Orlando and Brown truly wanted to kill each other. At one point, Brown hit a back body drop through a steel chair on the floor against Orlando. The two even brawled on the stage next to the ring, where Brown hit a piledriver on Orlando on the wood floor. Brown charged at Orlando in the ring, but Orlando ducked, and Brown went headfirst into a steel chair in the corner. This led Orlando to fire up and beat the hell out of Brown with those metal sheets. This fantastic contest came to an end when Orlando hit a superkick, a sick trick from the top rope onto Brown, and a spear through a door set up in the corner to keep Brown down for 10 seconds. Amazing match.
This match was truly insane, and one of the best Last Man Standing matches I’ve ever seen. Nowadays, you feel like this trope is overdone in wrestling. But this rivalry absolutely called for it and Blitzkrieg! Pro Wrestling made sure that if we were going to get a Last Man Standing match, we would get a LAST MAN STANDING match. Not some Last Man Standing match you see on television. This was about as good as it came. You felt every hit that both competitors landed on each other. This was probably one of the most hard-hitting matches I’ve ever been in attendance for. Bobby Orlando picked up a decisive, very fun, well-deserved win. Orlando has turned Blitzkrieg! Pro into a home away from home. Tonight was no different. This win could get Orlando right back into the hunt for the Bedlam Championship. His next stop could very well mark the champion, Charles Mason. As for Andy Brown, he had a great showing in this one, even in defeat. He is an incredible former Bedlam Champion. One of the best reigns of his career came in Blitzkrieg! with that Bedlam Championship. Despite his recent attitude change, Brown still remains one of the best wrestlers around today, bar none. He’s incredibly talented. This was an incredible Last Man Standing match.
Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships: Ancestral City Shooters (Joseph Alexander & Kwesi Asante) (c) vs. Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) ended in a no-contest; therefore, Ancestral City Shooters retain the Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships
The first match back from intermission saw the Ancestral City Shooters, Joseph Alexander & Kwesi Asante, put their Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships on the line against Miracle Generation, Dustin Waller & Kylon King. This match got started fast as Miracle Generation attacked the Ancestral City Shooters from behind during the announcements. They did a good job of controlling this match, targeting Alexander a lot in the early stages. Alexander made the hot tag to Asante, and Asante came in hot. He took out both members of Miracle Generation. Just as it looked like Ancestral City Shooters had this match won, Waller superkicked the referee mid-pinfall to stop the count and save the match for him and Kylon King. After some more fun back-and-forth action, Kylon King landed a superplex from the top rope, and Alexander and King seemingly pinned each other as two referees counted the pin. The first referee said that Miracle Generation got the win. However, the second referee saw things differently and saw Ancestral City Shooters win this match. It was announced that this match was a draw, but the winners were still Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships were the Ancestral City Shooters. Miracle Generation beat the hell out of them after the match with the titles. Dustin Waller got on the microphone and said that on October 17th, they’ll settle this once and for all. I expect this match to be much more hard-hitting and just a much better/longer match. This was a fun match, but a precursor to what’s to come in October.
It almost feels insulting to write this, but this was a good match between the past vs. the present. Now, Miracle Generation is far from a team in the past. They still have many good years left in them. However, at Blitzkrieg! Pro, they are former Blitzkrieg! Pro Tag Team Championships. Ancestral City Shooters, on the other hand, represent the current Blitzkrieg! Pro tag team division. Kwesi Asante & Joseph Alexander are the mountaintop in Blitzkrieg! Pro’s tag team division now. They are leading this tag division in a great way, and talent-wise, they rank amongst the absolute best tag teams ever on the independent wrestling scene. Now, while this match may have been a precursor to what’s coming in October, it was still very fun. However, I expect October’s match to just be on a whole other level. These two teams are an absolute blast to watch, and seeing them meet face-to-face was great. Both teams have gotten much better since they last squared off, so it was exciting to see how this match would shape up now.
Amity LaVey def. Jose Zamora
Next up, Amity LaVey competed in singles action against Jose Zamora. LaVey was supposed to face off with Izzy Moreno, who eliminated her from the Mother Of All Scrambles in June. However, due to issues beyond our control, the match had to be cancelled for this event. Moreno is expected back in the coming months to battle LaVey. So, who would Blitzkrieg! Pro get to fill in for Moreno? How about a returning Jose Zamora? There was no way that this match was going to be a 20-minute technical classic, but by God, I was entertained like it was. LaVey was the clear-cut fan favorite, in all of her unhinged glory. LaVey got the best of Zamora with her lungs by screaming right in front of him, causing him to stop right in his tracks. She then lifted him for a big slam, but Zamora wasn’t going to go down quietly. He sent LaVey into the middle turnbuckle to change the tides of this match. He hit the middle rope, causing it to ricochet and hit LaVey right in the throat. LaVey fought back into the match by landing a powerbomb on Zamora to buy herself some valuable time to regroup. She fired up and unloaded on Zamora. LaVey put Zamora away with the holy roller for the three-count. A very fun win. After the match, LaVey cut a promo sending a message to Izzy Moreno. She told Izzy that come October, she won’t be able to get away from her that easily.
First and foremost, I will cherish any time I get to see LaVey compete inside of a ring. She may be the most special talent around today. Her character work is truly remarkable. Not just that, but she is such a talent in the ring. I’ve been fortunate enough to follow her career long before the “Doctor’s Favorite Patient” was born. However, this is hands down the most special version of LaVey that we have ever seen. I’m very excited to continue to see her growth, as she is someone who deserves only the best stuff in professional wrestling. She, hands down, may be one of the most special characters in all of professional wrestling. As for her opponent, Jose Zamora will never make me hate him. Zamora is probably one of the most entertaining guys in wrestling today. He records all of his matches, actively talks to chat, and is your prototypical influencer. He plays this role damn near perfectly. Not only is his character fantastic, but I also love seeing him in the ring. He has a ton of potential and talent to do great things, and we’re just witnessing the beginning. Go check out and support both of these competitors. Zamora and LaVey are two very bright spots on the Northeast independent wrestling scene. This one was a blast.
Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship: Charles Mason (w/ CPA) (c) def. Sammy Diaz to retain the Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship
Before the match, I had the chance to catch up with Sammy Diaz on his upcoming match here tonight challenging for the Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship:
On how he’s doing: “I’m doing great. I’m sore. I’m banged up. We don’t make excuses. We show up and we show out each and every time baby. You know what we do.”
His mindset entering this match: “To be honest, I’m nervous. But I’m prepared for anything, because I know he’s willing to do anything. But, I’m willing to do everything to get that title back. I’m banged up from Thursday. But, I know he’s dangerous, but I just have to be aware of everything he does tonight. So, we’re going to be on our P’s and Q’s tonight baby. We’re going to be paying attention to everything he does and hopefully we’ll make it out with that title tonight.”
Future goals at Blitzkrieg! Pro: “To get that title back, and end Charles Mason’s reign. That’s what I’m focused on right now. I don’t want to look any further, so let’s continue to do that baby.”
In the first of two main events. We saw Charles Mason, accompanied by CPA, put his Blitzkrieg! Pro Bedlam Championship on the line against a former Bedlam Champion in his own right, Sammy Diaz. Diaz was the big fan favorite in this one, as Mason, accompanied by CPA, garnered a lot of boos from the Blitzkrieg! Pro faithful. However, they haven’t given up on CPA yet, with chants of “CPA! CPA! CPA!” breaking out multiple times during this one. The action itself was great. It felt like the perfect amount of time for a match. Not too long, not too short, just right. Both men landed some hard strikes on each other to kick this one off. Mason did a terrific job for the most part in controlling almost this whole match. Diaz got some good action in too, even landing a Styles Clash, a psycho knee, and a frog splash, amongst many other great moves. CPA teased hitting Diaz with the title, and when he finally tried to, Diaz hit a big jumping knee. However, this allowed Mason to capitalize, locking him in a new submission hold choke where Diaz is positioned in a tombstone piledriver position. Mason dropped Diaz on his head for good measure after the bell rang. CPA hit Diaz with the title after the match. Mason jumped on Diaz and beat him up, but Bobby Orlando made the save with the chair. Orlando said that in October it’s going to be Sammy Diaz, Orlando, and Bear Bronson against Charles Mason, Andy Brown, and CPA in a Bunkhouse Rules match. I cannot wait for this one.
This was a fun Bedlam Championship match. Not too much to add; it was pretty straightforward. I absolutely love the work that Mason has been doing lately, all over the independent wrestling scene. He dropped the House of Glory Heavyweight Championship to Joey Silver the night before this show. While I didn’t love this too much, I didn’t dwell on it as this was a new night, new promotion, and new match. Mason is showing the world just how talented he is, and he deserves every accomplishment he’s been getting. As for the challenger, Sammy Diaz is probably one of my favorite wrestlers. Whenever I see Diaz in a match, I know it’s going to be super good and go super hard. Diaz is one of those Kenny Omega-type wrestlers where I’m pretty sure he can have a good match with a broomstick. True story. Nonetheless, that’s what made this match so good. Two wrestlers at the top of their game who are arguably the two best that Blitzkrieg! Pro has to offer. This one was a lot of fun and super good. Any other night, this would have been the best match of the night. Support Charles Mason & CPA always.
Joseph Sawyer def. Javi
The main event of the show saw Joseph Sawyer, fka WWE’s Joe Gacy, go one-on-one with an old friend of his in the WWE Performance Center, Javi, fka WWE’s Javier Bernal. This match didn’t have a clear-cut fan favorite, as Javi has turned Blitzkrieg! Pro into a home away from home, and Sawyer was given a warm welcome in his debut. The match started with a handshake between the two men, which Sawyer was a bit reluctant to accept, but ultimately did. The action quickly spilled out to the crowd as the fans ate it all up. Sawyer landed a huge headbutt on Javi to bust him open and continued the onslaught with headbutts to make him more and more bloodied. This match got “FIGHT FOREVER” chants after Javi fired back up and unloaded on Sawyer, who hit him with a discus clothesline. Javi continued to regain steam and really brought the fight right back to his long-time friend. Sawyer landed a spiral bomb for a very close two-count. After some more tremendous back-and-forth action, in the end, Sawyer landed a Sister Abigail on Javi to get the three-count.
This match is truly one that piqued my interest. We all have seen what Gacy and Bernal could do, but we never saw what Joseph Sawyer and Javi could do. That’s what made this match so special. Sawyer has been a force since returning to the independent wrestling scene and has been cementing himself on the independent scene. He’s been showing exactly why, if you saw him in WWE, it was truly just the beginning. Sometimes it’s hard to be your full authentic self when you have a full machine behind you, and that’s exactly what Sawyer and Javi proved in this one. Both of them put on a match that lasted about as long as Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk at SummerSlam. However, in their time in WWE, if they went eight minutes, that was a lot. Javi has really become a homegrown talent in Blitzkrieg! Pro. Very few have come to Blitzkrieg! Pro and cemented themselves as a fan favorite like Javi has done. But nonetheless, he has shown that he has so much to offer, more than what we saw from him in his time on WWE NXT. That’s not a dig at NXT either, just a fact. That’s what makes the independent wrestling scene so special. It’s a chance to reintroduce yourself, and both Sawyer and Javi did just that. They looked excellent in this one, and they have an incredibly bright future in the professional wrestling world in their post-WWE days.
