Scott’s Must-See Matches From The Weekend of 10/1 – 10/4

From the likes of Freelance Wrestling, DEFY Wrestling, and Wrestling Revolver, these are three must-see matches from this past weekend. These matches include one of the best World Championship matches in the reign of one of the best out in the Midwest, the return of DEFY with a stellar main event, and a fantastic trios bout in an out of the ordinary type of match. Check out the full list down below.

3. Trevor Outlaw vs. B3CCA from Freelance Wrestling’s “Welcome To Logan Square”

Kicking things off, we saw Trevor Outlaw put his Freelance Wrestling World Championship on the line against B3CCA in the main event of Freelance Wrestling’s big event, “Welcome To Logan Square.” As is the case with all the other Freelance events, this event once again hit it out of the park. We saw the likes of Craig Mitchell & White Meat battle The Syndicate in a trios war, Chico Suave put his Freelance Legacy Championship on the line against Shazza McKenzie, a #1 contender match for the Freelance Legacy Championship between Trent Wrigley, Darin Corbin, Hunk Kasady, and EFFY, Kylie Rae team up with Izzy Moreno to face off with SMS, Victor Iniestra compete in three-way action, GPA make his return to battle CJ Martin, and of course the scramble match to kick it all off. However, the main event was what truly stole the show. Trevor Outlaw entered this match having an almost 200-day reign. He first won the title back in March from Devon Monroe. Since then, Outlaw has knocked off the likes of EFFY, RJ Sowa, Izzy Moreno, Allie Katch, Shane Sabre, and Devon Monroe. Love him or hate him, alongside Frank The Clown, Outlaw gets the job done. He truly deserves praise for this one. He has just been on another level lately, getting next level heat like very few can on the independent wrestling scene. He just knows how to make people hate him. That’s super fun. Outlaw is one of my personal favorites. I love to see him get knocked out because of how much sh*t he talks before the match. However, he has the skill and ability to hang with anyone you put in front of him. This match was a fun movie star vs. pop star match. Yes, Outlaw is indeed a movie star. He starred in an independent film, “The Spot” which had its premiere very recently. As for his opponent, B3CCA is the pop star of professional wrestling. Not only is she entertaining, but she can take the fight to the best of them. B3CCA looked great in this match and got a lot of good action in. This was a super fun one. 2. Bryan Keith vs. Joshua Bishop from DEFY Wrestling’s “ALL HEART”

Entering at number two on this list, we saw Bryan Keith put his DEFY World Championship on the line against Joshua Bishop in DEFY Wrestling’s big return event, “ALL HEART.” This was an unbelievably stacked show as DEFY Wrestling finally made its return. We saw the likes of the Hellhounds face off with Tye or Die in a tag team match, J-Rod face off with Rory Shield, The Death Riders face off with The Infantry, Kiran Grey compete in singles action against Jeffrey John, and an eight person DEFY Lucha International Championship Eliminator match to crown the inaugural DEFY Lucha International Champion. Keith and Bishop absolutely stole the show in a match that lived up to the hype and then some. Keith first captured the DEFY World Championship back in September of last year. Over the course of his nearly 400-day reign and counting, Keith has knocked off the likes of Clark Connors, Alan Angels, Cody Chhun, Timothy Thatcher, and Susumu Yokosuka before DEFY went on a hiatus. Despite the hiatus, Keith continued to raise his stocks on All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and various other independent promotions. He is truly one of a kind and doesn’t always get the credit he deserves. He may not be in major matches on television lately, but don’t be fooled, Keith can hang with anyone and everyone you put in front of him. Keith is probably one of my personal favorite wrestlers around today. Genuinely, go watch a match of his and you will be super impressed. As for his opponent, Joshua Bishop is becoming one of the best, and most must-see big men on the independent scene today. Bishop is simply put, a force in the ring. Every time he steps in the ring you know you’ll be in for a good showing. He is certainly a name to look out for as I can absolutely see him on our television screens sooner rather than later. This match was awesome, and more importantly, it was so fun to see DEFY Wrestling back and better than ever. This match aired live on the DEFY Wrestling Patreon group on a livestream.

1. Oi4K vs. Tye Or Die from Wrestling REVOLVER’s “Tales Of The Ring IX”

Entering at number one on this list, we saw saw the new version of Oi4K put their REVOLVER World Tag Team Championships on the line against Tye Or Die. This version of Oi4K saw Jake Crist team up with Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz to face off with Tye Or Die, consisting of Amazanga, Rory Shield, and Ryan Matthias. This was a super fun “Tales Of The Ring IX” event. We saw many fun bouts, including BDE squaring off with Joe Alonzo, a REVOLVER 24/7 Scramble Championship scramble match, Alex Colon battle Krule in a coffin match, Lio Rush team up with Charles Crowley to face off with Ace Austin and Juni Underwood, Brent Oakley put his REVOLVER Remix Championship on the line against Zachary Wentz (yes, Wentz pulled double duty), a Four Corner Mayhem match for the West Coast Pro Tag Team Championships, and Damian Chambers put his REVOLVER World Championship on the line against Mance Warner to kick off all the action. The main event of the show was a very unprecedented match as the two teams went to war in a Scaffold Warfare match. This was a trios war in every sense of the word. I absolutely was hooked by this match and enjoyed every second of it. We saw surprises, fun moments, and above all else some great wrestling. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not the most well-verse on the older iterations of Oi4K, but I absolutely adore this new version of the group. The Rascalz, Jake Crist, and Rich Swann, Billie Starkz, or any variation of it, are always great in tag team matches. They truly are some of the best that Ohio has to offer and they do the name, group, and location justice. I cannot say enough good things about this crew. As for Tye or Die, I’ve gotten to see them grow lately and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. They are certainly a tag team to watch. While KJ Reynolds may not have officially been in the match, he and Matthias truly are a fantastic tag team to watch. Be on the lookout for this duo as they will without a doubt be taking over the independent scene sooner rather than later. Then you add in Amazanga, and now Rory Shield, I love what Tye or Die is building. This was such a fun, creative, and excellent match.
