This is a special review exclusive to PWPonderings in that friend to the site Chris Shore who is mostly known for his work on ProWrestling.net has written a spectacular eBook series entitled ‘The Following Contest series” with the first novella in the series called “The Following Contest is a Dark Match” which begins this unique series. Straight up it is one of the only wrestling related eBooks out there that blends the scifi genre spectacularly with indy wrestling. There have been wrestling comic books, there are projects based on indy wrestling for stage and TV recently announced. But this is really using the wrestling lifestyle as a tool to tell a compelling science fiction tale of suspense.

I was lucky enough to be one of the beta readers for the novella which at only 164 pages is a quick read and at only $0.99 is a steal. If I may I will use the websites description of the book to lay down what you can expect:

Ebook Short Description
Waking from a head injury caused by a mistake, indy wrestler Kevin Davidson finds he has new psychic powers that he doesn’t fully understand. Now he must use those powers to help him find a little boy in a very dark place, all while trying to hold his life together, and preventing his own death in the wrestling ring.

Extended Description
Dark Match is the first book in The Following Contest series. You are introduced to Kevin Davidson, a mediocre independent wrestler who wants nothing more than to make it to the WWE and big contracts to provide for him and his girlfriend Julie Montgomery. After a fall while wrestling that knocks him unconscious, Kevin awakes to find that he has psychic abilities, including clairvoyance, ESP, and the ability to see the future.

Kevin finds that having these powers can be both a blessing and a curse. As his new powers drag him into a life he never imagined, he must decide to help a young boy whose future is very dark, while trying to reconcile the truth of his first vision: if he continues to wrestle, he will be killed in the ring.

I can definitely tell you that at only $0.99 you are getting more than your moneys worth if you’re a fan of sci fi themes, and of course if you’re a slight fan of indy wrestling. A great read that I think all of our fans should check out so give it a try. Thank you for your support.
