I recently had the opportunity to reconnect with an Indy talent I’d met a few years back on one of my rare Indy road trips. Eric Adamz has been working the independent scene for 17 Years and when I caught up with him he had a new venture, this time as promoter. Adamz has started DreamPW, a promotion which just had its first show in August at The National Guard Armory in Belmont, NC. I was able to speak with Eric about his wrestling background and the motivations behind DreamPW as well as aspirations for future shows in this exclusive interview.
Eric, Thanks for taking the time to do this & let our readers know a little more about yourself and this promotion.
Q: Everyone has a story, so tell us what made you want to get involved with the wrestling business, first as a performer. Give us a crash course on Eric Adamz career to this point.
A: “Well the quickest way to tell this story is give the liner notes. I’ve been a life long wrestling fan, so much so to the point I suffered from Dyslexia as a child and didn’t learn to read till I was in the 4th grade. They tried everything from comic books to sports illustrated, none of it worked. I actually learned to read thanks to WWE magazines and the “Apter Mags” as a kid. I became attached to all these amazing people I read about and the day I read an Article on Tommy Dreamer and saw this New York born tough guy could do it, I decided I wanted to. Got a job delivering pizza on Wallstreet told my trainer I was 16 (I was actually only 14) and I started Training at Johnny Rodz Unpredictable school of wrestling that was back in 1996.”Eric Adamz                                                                                  DreamPW Owner/Operator- Eric Adamz
Quite the story, Eric. It seems like Pro Wrestling was an integral part of your life very early on. It’s easy to see how you could have such a passion for the business. Which leads to my next question.
Q: It’s a widely held belief,  you have to be at least a little crazy to take the leap to promoting shows. Tell us about your motivation for starting DreamPW.?
A: “I had sustained an injury to my right hand, still having issues with it I wanted to be involved in wrestling. And being a natural born leader I have been known to throw on a couple different hats when performing on wrestling shows, and after years of people saying I should try. I did what I always do and said Why Not?”
Q: How did you come up with the concept for DreamPW?  And tell us about that concept and any nuances that may seperate it from the many “spot shows” across the United States.
A: “Simply put, I love pro wrestling and there are many great professional wrestling companies all over the world, but I wanted to do something different. My shows aren’t just wrestling shows they are Drama, Wrestling, Live Music, fan interaction, Guest celebrities, Guest Legends, Magnum TA stopped by our last show to say hello to crowd in an amazing moment! It’s all done with the top talent in the surrounding areas that maybe haven’t had the chance to stand out and they are put in different styles of matches, no two matches are the same on a DREAMpw show. We celebrate the best we have to offer in the ring, on the stage and give back to the people who matter more then anything the wrestling fan.”

It’s always nice to see promotions recognizing and drawing attention to their fans.
Q: You had some great talent and special guests on your debut show.  tell us about the importance of having these talents on your debut show.
A; “Drew Myers is the perfect example, how the f**k is this kid not the champion everywhere he goes!? Legit Division 1 wrestler out of UNC-Chapel Hill, intelligent, great shape, can speak and is a great worker!!! The guys and ladies like him are what should be celebrated on the indies and that’s what DREAMpw does every 3 months.”

I’ve had the pleasure to watch Drew grow over the last year and a half or so & I couldn’t agree more with your analysis of him & of course you want people on your show with passion, skill, talent and heart to put on the best show possible.
Q: Are there currently any plans for a follow up show? If so is there any talents? venue? or other details in place yet you can let our readers in on.
A: “Right now we are working on doing a benefit show under the Banner DREAM: CARES on November 7th, You will be the first to know about details when everything is finalized and Then we are gonna start getting ready for DREAM2: The Saga Continues.. *Chuckles* yes I am that big of an asshole and naming the show that!!  We are looking at either December or January for that one. I will say, I am planning the biggest surprise that has EVER happened in the Carolina’s since 2002 on that show. “

Q: I really appreciate your time today Eric. Tell our readers where they can find out more about you (social media) and DreamPW including future events or how to get ahold of a copy of the debut event.
A: “Well, the main thing right now is Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/DREAMpw follow us on our Twitter @DREAMproW and check out our website DREAMpw.com and we will have more info there with in the next weeks on how you can view the streaming video of our last show and once available buy a DVD copy of our great debut event.”
Q: We’ll wrap up with finding out a little about what your expectations or aspirations  are for DreamPW and your in ring career.

A: “DREAMpw is built on this simple fact, my hand is fu*ked!  Everyday,  I am doing everything I can to try and get it back to where it needs to be so I can do what I love and that is this sport. Also I want DREAMpw not to be another great wrestling show in the Carolina’s, I want it to be our once every quarter gathering to let it all hang out. Lets do Woodstock, burning man and the X-Games every 3 months and wild out. With the help of guys like you, the wrestling fans and the wrestlers every three months we can remind people the DREAM of big time wrestling events is alive and it is cool to be a wrestling fan.”
Sounds like a unique indy wrestling experience to look forward to. Thank you again for your time Eric and we look forward to hearing more about DreamPW in the future. Best of luck to you.
