Game Changer Wrestling was never a company for remaining silent for long and starting off celebrations with a bang. So when they were given the opportunity to have their first show of the new year, you know that they were going to deliver a card worth seeing. Not to mention at the beginning of April they hold The Collective. They’re bound to start building hype for that collection of shows. But for now, this Saturday they’re at the House of Independents and streaming on Fite.TV. Let’s check out the matches they are bringing in the new decade with.

Matt Tremont vs KTB

A hardcore hoss fight by any other name. KTB normally is found in the scrambles throwing people much smaller than him around. When he’s brought out to do a singles match it’s always an interesting prospect. This is doubled with Matt Tremont who is a legend in his own right. Considering KTB’s love of throwing people through doors, and Tremont’s performance at Jimmy all the way. Expect this match to be full of weaponry.

Tony Deppen vs Jake Atlas

This match is bittersweet, as it is Jake Atlas’ final GCW match. Though he has a rough opponent with Tony Deppen. The two of them having pulled off impressive performances in prominent indies beyond GCW. This is going to be a straight up wrestling match one to say thank you and goodbye to Jake Atlas against a GCW faithful.

Matthew Justice vs Alex Colon

Matthew Justice has made a name for himself in 2019, performing death defying maneuvers. So he goes up against the 2019 tournament of survival winner in Alex Colon. The last time these two met was at Long Live GCW in a four way where Matthew Justice picked up the win. Will that momentum carry into this encounter, or will Alex Colon show that his win of the ToS was no fluke. This one might be hard to watch.

SHLAK vs Gregory Iron

A late addition to the card, and admittedly a strange one. Though GCW does enjoy putting together strange matches on occasion. The deathmatch worker SHLAK takes on “The handicapped hero” Gregory Iron. And it’s a little tough to say what to expect from this, it could be a hardcore affair, it could be something more straight forward. All that can be said about it is that it will be interesting to see what goes down.

Six Man Scramble

Ophidian, Cole Radick, AJ Grey, Blake Christian, Oswald Project, and Treehouse Lee take the reigns of the traditional scramble that GCW usually puts forth each show. If you’ve never heard of some of these people, that’s fine. One purpose of these scrambles is to get people that a viewer might not know and let them showcase their talents alongside other more well-known talents. It’s a sort of proving ground for the newer talents at least to the eyes of GCW viewers.

Some returning talents include Ophidian who is a Chikara alum and has a very unique submission style to him. AJ Grey who beat Nick Gage for the GCW title before losing it to RSP later in the night at Long Live GCW. Blake Christian who debuted at Lights Out and has had relative success, and Treehouse Lee who is a recent debut winning the scramble at Jimmy All The Way.

Effy vs Jimmy Lloyd

It’s different boy vs daddy as Jimmy Lloyd takes on Effy. These two are GCW mainstays, with Jimmy Lloyd being one of the main stars post-Joey Janela leaving having three shows carrying after him. Effy, on the other hand, is more well known among the independent scene as a whole, however he is not afraid to get down and dirty with the rest of them if need be taking it to both Nick Gage and SHLAK. With hype building for The Collective and both men having shows with their namesake at The Collective. There’s bound to be some interest heading out of the match.

Chris Dickinson vs Alex Zayne

Alex Zayne was a surprise hit coming out of the GCW backyard show. Not only being booked in high profile companies but being a commonly seen name in the GCW ring ever since then. The Filthy Father Chris Dickinson is no stranger to the GCW ring either having last taken on Brett Ison at Long Live GCW. It will be a clash of styles where Zayne’s high flying offense will contrast heavily with Dickinson’s more aggressive power-based offense. Can Zayne overcome it?

Nick Gage vs Killer Kross

Nick Gage lost the title at Long Live GCW, but hasn’t held the belt since the Nick Gage Invitational when Rickey Shane Page took the belt from him. Ever since then Nick Gage has been on more of a tear than normal. Killer Kross in the meanwhile was set to face RSP for the GCW title in Alpha-1. Only one problem, Nick Gage was still the champion at the time. This match while it does not have title implications. It does involve two very brutal people, with a lot of pride on the line.

Nate Webb vs Rickey Shane Page

There really couldn’t be a bigger difference in reaction when these names are spoken. Nate Webb is met with cheers and love from the audience, and he revels in it. On the other hand, RSP is met with boos and jeers, but the GCW champion couldn’t care less. Having gotten the title through stealing it and marking it with his name. putting a dark cloud over Nick Gage’s over 400-day reign as champion.

Almost every GCW name in the book has been itching for a shot at the man. And Nate Webb was the man to answer the open challenge. This is non-title but winning this would mean big things for Webb. This is the first time RSP and Nick Gage are advertised on the same card together since he took the belt. Will Nick Gage have any words?
