Hey folks! Welcome to this week’s MLW Azteca Recap. MLW Azteca #3 started with 5150 defending their Tag Team Championship against Aerostar and Drago. Additionally, Toto wrestled against Proximo. Then, Richard Holliday squared off with Pagano in a Barrio Brawl. And in the main event, Mads Kruger faced Bestia 666 in a Tijuana Street Fight. Watch the newest episode of MLW Azteca below:
Strong Points of the Show
- Mr. Thomas and Alex Kane’s backstage segment was really enjoyable. The Crybaby Calvin shirts were priceless.
- Seeing Alicia Atout and Alexander Hammerstone attempt to calm Richard Holliday down was very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoy the chemistry that Atout, Hammerstone, and Holliday have together.
- Jacob Fatu’s segment was well done. Fatu came across as more humane and laid back, which is a total contrast to how Fatu has been booked in MLW in the past. It’s good character development, and I look forward to seeing how Jacob’s character progresses in the future.
Weak Points of the Show
- Watching Toto give Proximo a Canadian Destroyer on the outside made me very nervous. I am glad that Proximo was not seriously injured.
- It made no sense that Richard Holliday began the Barrio Brawl asking Duran who his opponent was. For starters, Cesar told Holliday at the beginning of the show that he was facing Pagano. Moreover, Hammerstone, Atout, and Holliday all talked about Pagano during their backstage segment. Overall, the comment made by Holliday came across as foolish.
- From a storyline perspective, I love the idea of Cesar Duran manipulating Mads Kruger into fighting Bestia 666 to earn a match against Jacob Fatu. However, since Mads Kruger vs. Jacob Fatu was previously announced by MLW for the January 21tst show, I found the stipulation for tonight’s main event to be kind of meaningless.
Other Highlights
- The Dynasty confronted Cesar Duran to start the show. Cesar Duran let Hammerstone know that Hammerstone would be stripped of the MLW World Heavyweight Championship if he ever attacked Duran. After threatening Alex’s title reign, Cesar scheduled a Barrio Brawl between Richard Holliday and Pagano.
- A mystery vignette aired. The vignette featured an hourglass.
- Davey Richards vs. Alex Hammerstone for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship was announced for MLW’s SuperFight event on February 26th.
- El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Aramis for the AAA Mega Championship was announced for next week’s broadcast. Additionally, Alex Hammerstone will defend his championship against Octagon Jr.
