Hey everyone! Welcome to this week’s recap for MLW Fusion: Azteca. This episode served as the finale of the Azteca mini-series, as next week MLW will return to airing regular Fusion episodes. On tonight’s episode, EJ Nduka faced off with Adrian Quest. Then, Extreme Tigre squared off against Mecha Wolf. And in the main event, Alex Kane, Rey Horus, and Villano Jr. III battled El Hijo de Vikingo, Octagon Jr., and Laredo Kid. Watch the Azteca mini-series finale below!

Strong Points of the Show

  • Davey Richards cut a great promo tonight. I enjoyed how Richards discussed that no label or compliment mattered more than being the World Heavyweight Champion.
  • Mads Kruger’s backstage segment was well done. Kruger perfectly explained why CONTRA meant so much to him and why he is targeting Fatu.

Weak Points of the Show

  • Mecha Wolf took a nasty bump on the outside while diving out onto Extreme Tigre. Thankfully Mecha Wolf was able to finish the match. However, that spot looked a little scary.
  • El Hijo de Vikingo kept clutching his eye throughout the main event. Hopefully, El Hijo de Vikingo was not seriously injured during the match.

Other Highlights

  • The Dynasty “tanned” in the dark to start the show. Richard Holliday walked away at the end of the segment to take a phone call.
  • Richard Holliday talked on the phone to someone and said he was shopping for someone special. While talking on the phone, Holliday was spotted by a fan who asked Holliday for a picture and whether Alex Hammerstone was around. After the conversation with the fan ended, Holliday got off the phone and had a concerned look on his face.
  • Another mysterious vignette aired. This time, a computer screen was in a barren field. The screen was shot to close out the vignette.
  • Rich Bocchini and Joe Dombrowski announced that the Von Erichs were not medically cleared to compete against 5150 due to having COVID.
  • 5150’s recent IWA Puerto Rico Tag Title win was highlighted. Afterward, 5150 promised to beat any team that was put in front of them.
  • Bocchini announced Alex Hammerstone will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Davey Richards at MLW Superfight. Additionally, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat will be appearing at Superfight.
  • Los Parks congratulated 5150 for winning the IWA Puerto Rico Tag Team Titles. Los Parks reminded 5150 that they were the toughest tag team in MLW. At the end of the segment, Los Parks demanded a Tag Team Championship rematch from 5150.
  • Jacob Fatu discussed his pro wrestling training experiences. Then, Fatu talked about how his family members relied on wrestling to provide for the family. Lastly, Fatu stated that everything he does in the ring is a representation of the struggles he’s faced with life, his family, etc.
  • MLW will host two shows in Dallas on March 31st and April 1st.
  • Throughout the main event, Alex Kane refused to cooperate with Horus and Villano III Jr. Near the end of the match, Kane and Mr. Thomas walked out on Kane’s teammates.
  • At the end of the show, Emilio Sparks questioned Alicia Atout about her relationship with Richard Holliday. Then, a car pulled up, and Holliday was shoved out onto the ground. While Atout checked on Holliday, Sparks read a note that talked about upcoming matches that Hammerstone and Holliday had to be a part of.

Match Results

  • EJ Nduka defeated Adrian Quest via pinfall.
  • Mecha Wolf defeated Extreme Tigre via pinfall.
  • Trios Match: Laredo Kid, El Hijo de Vikingo, and Ocatagon Jr. defeated Alex Kane (with Mr. Thomas), Rey Horus, and Villano III Jr. via pinfall.
