On May 13, 2023, Create A Pro held the biggest show in CAP history, as Homecoming took place live from Melville, NY. The show featured a ton of great wrestling, including a title unification match between Bryce Donovan and Vargas, and a street fight between two of the best that Create A Pro has to offer, Bear Bronson and TJ Crawford.

Pre-Show Match 1: JGeorge vs Chic Donovan

Winner: JGeorge

The opening match on the pre-show saw JGeorge go up against the legendary Chic Donovan. The crowd was firmly behind Chic Donovan, as JGeorge continued to be one of the great heels from Create A Pro. Ultimately after a solid back-and-forth match, JGeorge would best Donovan as JGeorge would pick up the pinfall. After the match, the fans cheered Donovan as he walked his way back up the entranceway, letting him know that he’s still got it.

Pre-Show Match 2: Liam Davis, Sazzy Boatright and Nat Castle vs. Dr. Cool, Gabby Forza and Zuleyka

Winners: Dr. Cool, Gabby Forza, Zuleyka

This match was probably one of my favorite matches of the entire night. This match saw Liam Davis and Dr. Cool who are two established wrestlers, team with some of the newer talent in Create A Pro. I cannot say enough good things about Gabby Forza, Zuleyka, Nat Castle, and Sazzy Boatright. They all can go and the future is indeed bright for each and every single one of them. The crowd was majorly behind Dr. Cool, Zuleyka, and of course “Your Homie, the Gnomie” Gabby Forza. Ultimately, the match ended when Forza hit a jackhammer on Liam Davis to pick up the victory for her team.

Create A Pro Mayhem Medal Lumberjack Match: Evil Kip (c) vs. The Sweeper

Winner AND NEW Create A Pro Mayhem Medal Holder: The Sweeper

This match was the perfect way to kick off the main show. The crowd was very much behind The Sweeper. The lumberjacks of the match featured a lot of the newer students in Create A Pro, as well as the likes of Pat Fitzpatrick who’s been around a bit longer. After the lumberjacks did their job, they began to fight each other and all hell broke loose. Ultimately, The Sweeper would sweep his way to the Create A Pro Mayhem Medal, defeating Evil Kip. The crowd went absolutely crazy, myself included, for The Sweeper.

Create A Pro Television Championship Match: Bobby Orlando (c) vs. Eric James

Winner AND STILL Create A Pro Television Champion: Bobby Orlando

The action continued with this highly-anticipated bout. This match featured arguably two of the best to come out of Create A Pro Wrestling Academy. Bobby Orlando, who is arguably one of the top talents on the independent scene today, took the fight to Eric James, who is another one of the top talents in the northeast. After a terrific back-and-forth match, Bobby Orlando would hit his finishing move on James to retain his Create A Pro Television Championship. Orlando has shown that he has a vice grip on the CAP TV title, and it should be interesting to see who, if anyone, can dethrone him.

Create A Pro Tag Team Championship Match: Midlife Express (c) vs. VBU vs. Even Stevens

Winners AND STILL Create A Pro Tag Team Champions, Midlife Express

One year ago, Jack Tomlinson and Dante Drago dropped the Create A Pro Tag Team Championships at The Grand Stage. This year, at the biggest show in Create A Pro history, they looked to reclaim the gold over a very game CPA and Mr. Tibbs. However, Steve Somerset and Stephen Azure had a lot to say about that as they were the third team in this match and a team that should never be overlooked. This match was another great match. It was very fun, and everyone in the match went all out to show the fans why their team should be the Tag Team Champions at the biggest show in CAP history. Ultimately, the Midlife Express would retain the gold. CPA and Mr. Tibbs continue to remain in control of the Create A Pro tag team division, knocking off two of the greatest teams to ever come out of Create A Pro in the same match.

Leo Sparrow (w/ GKM) vs. Nick Robles (as Jungle Kid)

Winner: Leo Sparrow

This match was an incredibly quick match, but also a very solid match. Leo Sparrow got to showcase his talents against the “Jungle Kid.” “Jungle Kid” is based on the AEW wrestler, Jungle Boy. Sparrow would make quick work of Robles, defeating him in roughly three minutes. However, the bigger story came after the match. Sparrow got on the microphone and talked about how he deserves better and how he’s the future of Create A Pro. Then… Create A Pro’s prodigal son returned.

Leo Sparrow vs. MJF

Winner: AEW World Champion, MJF

It all made sense why Sparrow had a quick match at first. It was only his first match of the night. MJF’s music hit and out came MJF to a MASSIVE ovation from the Long Island faithful. MJF talked about how he’s going to win at “Double or Nothing” as well as how he will crush Leo Sparrow. Then, MJF challenged Sparrow to a match, and Sparrow accepted. This match was a ton of fun with not a single person sitting down in the crowd. MJF and Sparrow went hard, and it was great to see Sparrow put in that spot. Ultimately, MJF would make Sparrow tap out to the armbar and cut a promo after his victory. He says that if not for Brian Myers, Pat Buck, and Create A Pro Wrestling Academy, he would not be where he is today. This was a cool promo to witness live, as MJF has a lot of hate for everywhere else, but a lot of love for his hometown.

Raven’s Rules Street Fight: Bronson vs. TJ Crawford

Winner: Bronson

This night featured a lot of great wrestling, however, this was probably one of my favorite matches of the night. Raven made his way out with a few of his cronies who were wearing gas masks. TJ Crawford then was next to come out, followed by Bronson. This match went off the rails quickly. There were people going through doors, tables, and even thumbtacks involved. Ultimately, in a really cool spot that saw Bronson suplex Crawford from the top rope and down to the mat onto the thumbtacks, Bronson was able to pick up the victory in a very hard-fought match. After the match, Bronson shook Crawford’s hand, showing a mutual sign of respect for two of the bests around today on the indie scene.

Ava Everett and B3CCA vs. Angelina Love and Notorious Mimi

Winners: Angelina Love and Notorious Mimi

It is always a treat getting to see Ava Everett and B3CCA live, and seeing them face off with a former TNA Knockouts Champion in Angelina Love and Notorious Mimi made it that much better. The amount of talent that all four of these women have is extraordinary. This was an absolutely terrific back-and-forth match that saw Everett and B3CCA controlling a large portion of it. Ultimately, Notorious Mimi and Angelina Love would be victorious, as the Create A Pro faithful let them hear their praise.

After this match, Aaron Rourke made his way down to the ring and he wasn’t happy. He was annoyed that he was kept off the show and decided to make a bombshell announcement. Rourke challenged Effy to a match at the July Create A Pro show. Rourke and Effy will be a dream match for many people, myself included. This one will be sure to not disappoint, and seeing Effy inside of a Create A Pro ring will be amazing in itself.

Create A Pro Championship Unification Match: Bryce Donovan vs. Vargas

Winner AND NEW Create A Pro Champion: Bryce Donovan

This match was months in the making, and it seemed like this was the perfect way to go. Vargas has run over the Create A Pro roster, showing why he is one of the most powerful men on the indie scene today. Alongside, Ariela Nyx and Jay Mesias, Vargas looked to be unstoppable. Bryce Donovan knew he had a big hill to climb, but he was ready. Their match tonight was about as good as it gets. After some outside interferences by Jay Mesias and Ariela Nyx, Brian Myers made the save, taking out Mesias and sending him to the back. Donovan would hit Ariela Nyx with a superkick to neutralize that situation. Ultimately, Bryce Donovan would be able to defeat the “Dominican Destroyer” and climb back to the top of the Create A Pro mountain. Now that Donovan is healthy, he gets to sit atop the Create A Pro mountain alone.

The next Create A Pro show will be coming to you live from Lynbrook, NY on July 30th. Depending on whether or not Effy accepts, it will feature Effy vs. Aaron Rourke in a “battle for the gays.” We will also see some other top-notch independent wrestling as well with Bryce Donovan, Bobby Orlando, Eric James, and the rest of the talented Create A Pro roster.

By Scott Mitchell

Hello, my name is Scott Mitchell and I have been a professional wrestling fan since 2005. Like everyone the first promotion I really fell in love with is the WWE. However, as I got older, I got largely into the greatness known as independent wrestling. Independent wrestling has turned into one of my biggest passions. Please enjoy!
