Former GCW Ultraviolent Champion Alex Colon Calls Out GCW Promoter Brett Lauderdale, Lauderdale Responds

For the past couple weeks former GCW Ultraviolent Champion Alex Colon has been on Twitter, angrily tweeting about GCW promoter and owner Brett Lauderdale. He doesn’t actually name Brett in the tweets but it can be figured out who exactly he is talking about.

In a tweet made on May 3rd, Colon goes on to say:

“There’s just some behavior that I can’t understand. I will not stand behind letters that ppl break or have broken their backs for 2 be treated as expendables. Pay us like sheep while u sit on a thrown of gold. Fans need to support talent not letters that neglect talent. Wake up!”

In a podcast recorded on Friday night on the GCW Patreon (yes GCW has a Patreon, it is never promoted), Lauderdale answered questions sent in from their Patreon members. The question of Colon’s status with the company was asked, and Brett also commented on Colon’s tweets. He went on to say that Colon was paid well, specifically in his match against John Wayne Murdoch at GCW’s “Die 4 This” on January 1, 2022. Lauderdale explained he paid Colon $1 more than Murdoch.

Colon took offense to this and tweeted out:

Lauderdale gives a lengthy response to Colon’s tweet. Including explaining why he gave Colon $1 more. Lauderdale tweeted, “The extra $1 was meant to symbolize that even though I agreed to pay you guys the same, I wanted to give you more (even if $1) to show you respect.”

In a 10 part Twitter thread, the GCW owner went out to say he paid Colon good, booked flights and nice hotels.

“You were a 4x tournament winner, won multiple titles, and on pace for more. You were always treated respect.

You also never *once* asked for a raise or complained about treatment.”

He goes on to reveal that Colon was scheduled to return on May 26th in Vegas, and June 4th at COS to do a really cool program that Colon was looking forward to but unfortunately it fell thru.
