With the final MLW live event completed, let’s look back on MLW/WTF’s One-Shot. The event was streamed live on FITE+ from the Melrose Ballroom in Long Island City, NY, on December 7th.

MLW World Middleweight & CMLL World Historic Welterweight Title Match: Rocky Romero (c) w/ Salina de la Renta vs. Mascara Dorada

This opening match was an excellent way to start the card. Both men had moments and showcased their skills in a classic Luche Libre match.

During the match, Romero attempted to remove Dorada’s mask by untying it; however, the ref was able to stop him from completely getting it off. The mask, however, remained loose and was never retied or adjusted by Dorada.

In the match’s closing moments, Dorada almost accidentally hit the ref while performing a move. Romero used this distraction to get the mask off of Dorada’s head finally. As Dorada went to cover his face, Romero rolled him up for the pinfall.

Result: Rocky Romero defeats Mascada Dorada via pinfall to retain his championship.

TJPW Princess Of Princess Title Match: Miyu Yamashita (c) vs. Delmi Exo

This was a hard-hitting contest, with both competitors landing hard strikes on each other. Yamashita appeared to control more of the offense in the match. She tried putting Exo away multiple times during the match unsuccessfully.

The ending came when Yamashita hit a spinning skull kick on a barely standing Exo to pick up the win. The two acknowledged each other and shook hands as Exo raised Yamashita’s hand in a classy show of respect.

Result: Miyu Yamashita defeats Delmi Exo via pinfall to retain her championship.

In between matches, we are shown a taped promo by Zayda Steel thanking her fans for being America Online’s 2023 Most Downloaded Celebrity while holding a plaque. She then talks about coming for the MLW Featherweight Championship.

Satoshi Kojima vs. Tom Lawlor w/ Saint Laurent

Kojima was welcomed back to a hero’s welcome from the crowd. This was a good wrestling match between the two. Kojima did his patent chops to Lawlor in the corner.

After back and forth between the two wrestlers, Kojima hit Lawlor with a huge lariat to pick up the three-count and win.

After the match, the bread crowd threw bread in the ring at Kojima. MSL entered the ring to protect Lawlor from the flying bread. Kojima grabs a mic and tells the crowd he loves bread, and he loves them. He then thanked the crowd.

Result: Satoshi Kojima defeats Tom Lawlor via pinfall.

Saint Laurent Bodybuilding Contest

MSL came down with Zayda Steel, who was the judge for the Bodybuilding Contest.

The first contestant was Midas Black from Mane Event. After Black poses, MSL states he has seen bigger muscles on hamsters but thanks Black for trying and says he did a good job.

The second contestant was Mr. Thomas from the BFC. He posed for the crowd, and then MSL asked Steel what she thought of his performance. She said he sucked.

The final contestant was Alex Hammerstone. MSL said he had no idea he would be the last contestant. He and Steel will judge his set of poses with complete impartiality. MSL asks Steel who she thought one, and she raises Hammerstone’s hand.

Result: Alex Hammerstone wins the Saint Laurent Bodybuilding Contest.

Hammerstone grabs a mic and cuts a promo on the crowd. The crowd chants, “steroids!” Hammerstone tells the crowd, “It looks like everyone in this crowd can use some injections too, you fat asses!”

Hammerstone talks about how he’s the greatest world champion of all time. He said Alex Kane can’t hold his jock. Then, he starts to talk about Jacob Fatu and how he beat him twice. With that, Fatu’s music played, and he came down.

Fatu took the fight to Hammerstone, causing him to bail out of the ring. Fatu had fun with the crowd, posing for them. Then Hammerstone came back to the ring with his trophy. Fatu snatches the trophy from him and smashes it on the ground.

This angle set up their third match showdown taped the same night and will be shown on MLW’s Holiday Rush special on Christmas Eve.

In a funny short segment, before announcing the next match, the ring announcer states that the World Titan Federation would like to thank their fans worldwide and in attendance. He then said they set an indoor attendance record there at the Melrose Ballroom, advising there were 81,036.5 in attendance there.

MLW National Openweight Title Match: Rickey Shane Page vs. Jimmy Lloyd

The crowd chants, “Jimmy Fu*king Lloyd as he comes out. Next, as RSP came out with a gas-masked henchmen and dropped his title on the ramp, the gas-masked henchman picked up the title and hit RSP from behind. He reveals himself, and it is Akira. Akira beats RSP outside the ring and around ringside before the match begins.

Akira is pulled away and dragged towards the back by security as Lloyd hits RSP with a suicide dive through the ropes. Lloyd gets Page into the ring to begin the match.

Lloyd grabbed some chairs and a wooden board to bring into the ring. Both competitors used the weapons against each other. The ref allowed this to continue, obviously making this match a no-DQ match.

Lloyd hit Page with an attitude adjustment onto the wooden board between two chairs in the ring for a near fall. Lloyd set up a pile in the ring with the broken board and chairs. He went for a move, that was stopped by RSP, who then hit the Raven Effect DDT on Lloyd on the pile for the three-count to pick up the win in a relatively quick match.

Result: Rickey Shane Page defeats Jimmy Lloyd via pinfall to retain his championship.

Next, we get a commercial advertising MLW’s Holiday Rush on December 24th at 8 pm on YouTube.

MLW World Featherweight Title Match: Janai Kai (c) w/ Salina de la Renta vs. Maki Ito

Maki Ito is introduced first. Next, Jesus Rodriguez introduces the MLW Featherweight Champion, Janai Kai.

The match begins with Ito pretending to cry. She caught Kai off guard with a kick and then a DDT. She has Kai in the corner and goes up on the turnbuckle. Rodriguez, who is at ringside with Salina, distracts Ito, causing Kai to take over.

Kai begins to dominate Ito. She places Ito on the bottom rope and distracts the ref while Salina chokes her. Ito makes a comeback with a cross-body splash from the top rope for a near fall. She hits Kai with a tornado DDT from the second rope for another near fall.

Ito goes up to the top rope. Rodriguez tries to get involved but gets kicked by Ito. Ichiban comes down to run off Rodriguez and Salina de la Renta. Ito misses the splash from the top rope. Kai snatches Itoh and puts her in the Demon Clutch to win the match.

Result: Janai Kai defeats Maki Ito via submission to retain her championship.

MLW World Heavyweight Title Match: Alex Kane (c) vs. Matt Cardona w/ Steph De Lander

MSL joins the commentating team of Matt Striker and Joe Dombrowski for this match. Matt Cardona comes out first with SDL. Next, Alex Kane comes down with the BFC. Kane grabs the mic and cuts a promo on Cardona and SDL.

Cardona tries to attack Kane from behind, but Kane sees him and hits a suplex on Cardona to start the match. Cardona rolls out and tries to leave, but a huge group from the BFC that came down with Kane stands at the entrance ramp, preventing Cardona from leaving. Kane hits a body slam on the ramp.

Now back in the ring, Kane goes to the top; however, SDL distracts Kane, causing Cardona to pull Kane’s leg out from under him. Cardona is now in control. During the match, Kane sold his back. SDL hands Cardona a chair, who uses it as a weapon in front of the ref. The ref allows the match to continue.

Steph de Lander and Mr. Thomas got involved and interfered in the match by interrupting the ref’s three-count; however, the ref let both stay at ringside.

SDL tries to use a chair, but Masked Good Brother III comes down to stop her and kisses her. Kane goes to pick up SDL, but Cardona low blows Kane and hits radio silence. Kane kicks out at two to everyone’s surprise!

SDL goes to hit Kane with the belt but hits Cardona instead. Kane spears SDL and gets Cardona in the Fade to Black, causing Cardona to tap out.

Result: Alex Kane defeats Matt Cardona via submission to retain his championship.

Alex Kane grabs a mic and has the Bomaye Fight Club carry Matt Cardona out of the building. Kane asks who wants to get this work at Kings of Coliseum when the lights go out. When the lights come back on, Richard Holliday is in the ring. MSL convinces Holliday to sign with the WTF and sets up an MLW World Title Match between the two at Kings of Colosseum as MLW One-Shot goes off the air.
