Mission Pro Wrestling held it’s first event of 2024 on Saturday, February 10th and it had some new faces, some returning faces and a lot of action, setting the stage for Mission Pro Mania, which will take place on April 20th.

The opening contest saw Kalientita defeat the debuting Zyra in a very entertaining match. Thunder Rosa is on commentary, which is always enjoyable, as she brings a bit of extra energy to the show whenever she is on the call.

The next match saw Emmy Camacho defeat the returning Ray Lyn. Ray Lyn has been away from Mission Pro for quite some time, and it is great to see her back. In my opinion she is one of the most under rated wrestlers and always has great matches.

This match was no different, as Ray Lyn had control of most of the match, using her experience advantage and bending the rules a little bit. After Ray Lyn and Emmy collide in the middle of the ring, Emmy fires up and locks in a submission. Ray Lyn is able to escape and hits a Ray Cray O, but Emmy is able to kick out of the pin attempt. Emmy picks up with victory when she hits Ray Lyn from the top rope. This is Emmy’s first win in Mission Pro, and I expect her to use the momentum of this win off of such a revered veteran to take her into Mission Pro Mania and beyond.

The scramble for the Mission Pro Cup is up next with JP Harlow facing off against Shay Karmichael, Morgan Mercy, Nova Phoenix and Angel Blue. Everyone in this match looked great and was able to shine. Morgan and Nova used their power advantage throughout the match, while Shay and Angel showed off their quickness and athleticism. Shay was very impressive and appears to be in the best shape of her career.

The ending sequence of the match saw Shay hit an impressive Tornado DDT on JP, but then get hit with a forearm from Blue. Blue goes to the top rope and dives onto Morgan and Nova. JP took out Blue on the outside and Shay went to dive, but was met with a running forearm from JP, who pinned her for the win. JP can now challenge any champion in Mission Pro.

Izzy Moreno was able to pick up her first Mission Pro win against Chicago standout Missa Kate. Missa looked like she had the advantage early on, as she was focusing on Izzy’s arm and doing a lot of damage. Missa used her power to try to bully Izzy, but Izzy fought back. Izzy brought Missa down from the turnbuckle with a rana and followed it up with a backstabber.  Izzy then locked in an arm bar, forcing Missa to tap out.

After the match, Izzy gets on the mic and states that she wants to be the youngest Mission Pro Champion ever. This brings out the holder of the Mission Pro Cup, JP Harlow. JP says that he can challenge for any belt in Mission Pro, including the tag team title. JP says that he can mentor Izzy and take her under his wing and that they can challenge for the tag team titles. He asks Izzy if she wants to be his best friend, to which Izzy says no. JP grabs Izzy by the hair, which brings out Thunder Rosa.

Rosa says that at Mission Pro Mania it will be Izzy vs JP in a San Antonio Stampede match for the Mission Pro Cup. Rosa then told Izzy that not everyone is her BFF and slaps her, dropping Izzy to the mat. We will have to see if this is animosity towards Izzy or a type of tough love.

In the first half of our double main event we see Tiffany Nieves successfully defend her Mission Pro Championship against Rache Chanel. Rache comes to the ring with a little entourage with Mardi Gras masks on, and handing out beads to the fans. The champ, “La Princessa” Tiffany Nieves was not amused by this and attacked the two other members of Rache’s entourage, then attacks Rache from behind to open the match.

Tiffany seems to have a counter for everything that Rache throws at her and almost seems as if she is insulted to be in the ring with Rache. Rache comes charging at Tiffany, but Tiffany puts the referee in front of her and the ref eats a boot from Rache. Rache gives Tiffany a boot scrape in the corner and goes for a pin, but the referee was down. Tiffany goes into Rache’s bag and take out a can of hairspray. The hairspray does not work for her and she throws it to Rache as the ref is slowly getting back up.

Tiffany comes up from behind Rache when Rache is talking to the ref about the hairspray. Tiffany rolls up Rache from behind, grabbing the tights for a little extra leverage and picks up the victory. This is Tiffany’s sixth defense of the Mission Pro Championship, and it does not look like she will be giving up that title any time soon.

The vacant Mission Pro Tag Team Championship will be decided in the main event. Maya World and Jazmin Allure get to pick mystery partners, due to them winning their matches at the last show. Maya picks Kiah Dream as her partner and Jazmin picks Dulce Tormenta.

Dulce and Jazmine worked very well together through most of the match, isolating Kiah from her corner. However, Dulce accidently kicked Jazmine in the back and causes them the argue, letting Kiah make the tag. Maya then drops Jazmine on her head and is able to get the pin to make Kiah Dream and Maya World the new Mission Pro Tag Team Champions.

Mission Pro is really heating up heading into Mission Pro Mania in April. Miranda Aliza came back to announce that is back in Mission Pro and will be competing at Mania. It will also be interesting to see where Thunder Rosa’s loyalties lie. She said that JP Harlow is her friend, but he is kind of a scum bag and is Rosa really going to turn her back on Izzy for him?
