Saturday, February 17th, Wrestling Revolver held its big event, “Whatashow.” The event streamed live on TrillerTV+.

The show saw many great moments and action, including Alex Shelley defending his Revolver World Title against Alan Angels, JD Griffey, and Exodus Prime. We also saw Lio Rush in action, Grizzled Young Veterans defend their Revolver World Tag Team Titles against Alex Zayne and Lance Archer, and so much more. Check out the full recap and review below.

Chris Bey vs. Lio Rush

Winner: Chris Bey

The night started with a big dream match that saw Chris Bey go one-on-one with Lio Rush. The “Ultimate Finesser,” Chris Bey, made his way down to the ring first, posing with fans as they cheered him on. The “Bad Child,” Lio Rush, followed behind and got a mixture of applause and boos. One thing that fans knew for sure is this was sure to be a can’t-miss match, and will more than live up to the hype behind it.

The match kicked off with Bey extending a handshake, which resulted in Rush kicking his hand and calling for a Bullet Club “2 Sweet.” Bey declines and quickly puts Rush in a headlock. The two are off to a quick start, and both men use their speed to get the upper hand on one another. The two men exchange high-flying moves to the outside, with Bey briefly gaining the upper hand. However, both men soon thereafter engage in a chop-off, with neither man gaining control of the match.

As Bey attempts a brainbuster, Rush counters with a roll-up and gets a two-count. Rush fires up and lands big clotheslines on Bey. After some more terrific back-and-forth action, Bey counters Rush’s frog splash and rolls him up for a three-count. This was an incredible opening contest between two of the best high-flyers around today. This was a must-watch match. Chris Bey and Lio Rush continue to kill it.

Matthew Palmer vs. Vert Vixen

Winner: Vert Vixen

In the next match, Matthew Palmer squared off with Vert Vixen in another kick-ass match. Vixen made her way down to the ring first with the fans firmly behind her. She’s a favorite at Revolver and it’s easy to see why. Palmer makes his way out next, accompanied by Alex Shelley, to quite the opposite reaction that Vixen had. Palmer showed up in street clothes cut a promo and told everyone this match would last 10 seconds. Vixen lays out Palmer with a massive superkick. The match begins when Palmer gains his bearings and Vixen immediately goes after him.

Vixen sends Palmer to the outside and lands a big kick to the head of Palmer, before sending him right back into the ring. However, Palmer turns the tides of the match, and beats down “Player One.” Vixen quickly fights back and takes the fight to Palmer on the outside of the ring. Vixen lands a massive chop on Palmer, sending him into the laps of the Revolver faithful in the front row. The match moves backstage and Vixen remains in control.

When the match moves back into the ring, Vixen calls for the pedigree, but Shelley gets involved. This leads to Palmer landing a big right hand. However, Vixen is ultimately able to land the pedigree and has the match won until Shelley puts the leg of Palmer on the bottom rope breaking up the pinfall. The referee ejects Shelley, which leads to Palmer using the title and getting disqualified. After the match, Palmer continued the onslaught before finally leaving. Sami Callihan comes out and announces this isn’t the way this match will end and restarts it.

Vixen lands a big crossbody on Palmer and pins him to win the match fairly quickly. Athena, the wife of Matthew Palmer, confronts Vixen after the match and this ends with Vixen landing a pedigree on Athena. This match was a ton of fun, and Vixen continues to show why she is incredibly over with the Revolver crowd. A future match between Vixen and Athena is going to be truly can’t-miss, and a dream match for fans all over.

Hoss Fight: Jake Something (w/ Phil Stamper) vs. Brick Savage

Winner: Jake Something

This was a true HOSS fight in every sense of the word. Brick Savage makes his way down to the ring first, followed by Jake Something. The match begins with a collar-elbow tie-up between the two behemoths. Neither man can gain the upper hand in the early going of this match. However, that changes when Savage sends Something flying with a big shoulder block, and follows that up with a big power slam for the two-count.

Something is quickly able to change the momentum of this match, and lands a big forearm on Savage, taking the big man down. With something needing to give between both men, Savage and Something simultaneously lands a big clothesline on each other, knocking themselves both down. However, Savage follows this up with a big axe handle, knocking out Something. Something sets up a couple of chairs in the ring and lands a big powerbomb through both chairs but only gets a two-count.

After a door gets introduced, Savage lands a big chokeslam through the door onto something to gain back control over this match. Phil Stamper tries to get involved and help Something, which works. Something lands his big finishing move on Savage to win the match. This was a fantastic match that featured two of the best big men in the sport today at Revolver. Savage looked incredible in the early going, and Something is just a beast.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Elijah

Winner: “Speedball” Mike Bailey

This was a first-time-ever match, which was very anticipated heading into tonight’s show. “Speedball” Mike Bailey makes his way down to the ring first, high-fiving, and high-kicking the hands of all the Revolver faithful. Elijah, formerly WWE’s Elias, makes his way down next and the fans cheer him on as well. This match marks the very first match of Elijah at Wrestling Revolver, and it happens against one of the very best today, Mike Bailey.

The two men have a face-off in the ring before going to their respective corners. When the referee calls for the bell, Elijah lands a massive kick to the face of Bailey and follows that by showing off his strength and chucking Bailey across the ring. Elijah calls for a crossface, but Bailey escapes and lands massive kicks of his own. Bailey attempts a big suicide dive, but Elijah catches him and throws him into the guardrail.

Elijah beats up on Bailey all around the ring. However, Bailey counters with a big diving kick to the face of Elijah onto the outside. Bailey tosses Elijah back into the ring and attempts a high-risk move, but Elijah counters and lands a big clothesline to Bailey on the apron, and quickly regains control. What started as a split crowd, seemingly got more behind Bailey as the match went on.  Elijah locks Bailey in a big submission move that targets the back of Bailey.

Elijah breaks the hold himself by hanging Bailey up on the top rope. However, this didn’t prove to be wise as this allowed Bailey to get some rest. Bailey lands a big running boot on Elijah that knocks him to the floor and lands a massive moonsault on Elijah that changes the tide of this match. After some more great back-and-forth action, Bailey pins Elijah with a small package maneuver to win the match. After the match, Elijah turns heel on Bailey when Bailey tries to show him respect.

This was truly a tremendous debut match for Elijah and a real statement-maker. In all honesty, this could be a match-of-the-year contender when 2024 is finished. We all know how good Bailey is already, and he continues to be that good. However, Elijah is in the process of truly showing the world how great he truly is inside the ring. Spoiler alert: ELIJAH IS AWESOME! Overall, this very well could have been the match of the night, and I think I speak for everyone when I say we hope Elijah comes back very soon.

The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel) vs. Los Desperados (Gringo Loco and Arez)

Winners: The Rascalz

Los Desperados, Gringo Loco, and Arez make their way down to the ring first. The Rascalz come out next and are seemingly the fan favorites in this match. This was a special attraction tag team match, and it truly lived up to the hype. Gringo Loco cuts a promo and calls for this match to be a no-disqualification “Lucha Street Fight” which gets the fan riled up. The Rascalz accept, and the match is made official. As soon as the bell rings, both teams head under the ring and get chairs of their own.

When the match kicks off, the two teams have a “sword fight” with the chairs that knocks them loose. The Rascalz then land superkicks into both members of Los Desperados, sending them both to the outside. When the two teams start brawling on the outside, Los Desperados quickly gains the upper hand. Miguel lands an “RVD-like” spinning heel kick onto Loco, who Wentz is holding a chair above. Wentz and Arez fight into the crowd, and Miguel and Loco are right behind them.

Miguel lands a big moonsault from the second level in the venue, taking out everyone on the first floor. Miguel clocks Arez in the head with a replica WWE big gold belt and the four men move to the concession stand area. While fighting on top of a table, Miguel DDT’s Arez straight down to the table. Miguel follows this up by trying to land a high-risk move from a basketball hoop, but Los Desperados pulls him down, leading to Miguel landing a hurricanrana on Arez.

Later in the match, Arez lands a piledriver on Miguel onto a table. Zachary Wentz makes his way onto the basketball hoop and takes out all three men with a high-risk move. After some more great back-and-forth action, ultimately it’s The Rascalz who are victorious when they land their finisher on Arez through a door. After the match, The Rascalz cut a promo showing the fans all the love and shaking the hands of Los Desperados.

This match was about as chaotic as it came in the best way possible. Between people jumping off of basketball hoops, being piledriven on tables, being thrown through doors, and so much more, this match was beautiful. The Rascalz and Los Desperados are two very high-energy teams and the match showcased that in a great light.

Mansoor vs. Bryan Keith

Winner: Bryan Keith

Coming back from intermission, Mansoor makes his way down to the ring first, to some applause from the Revolver faithful. After a heel-ish promo from Mansoor, the recent AEW signee, Bryan Keith, makes his way down to the ring, and he is now the clear-cut fan favorite. The match starts with Mansoor showboating a little too much for Keith’s liking. This leads to an aggressive collar-elbow tie-up, but Mansoor gets the best of Keith with a shoulder tackle.

Keith lands a shoulder tackle of his own on Mansoor, sending him reeling to the corner. Keith grabs a Mansoor 8×10 and rips it in half in the face of Mansoor. He then follows this up with an exploder suplex, sending Mansoor to the outside. Mansoor gains the upper hand when Keith tries to make his way inside the ring, and Mansoor kicks the middle rope into the mid-section of Keith. Mansoor does a great job at targeting the neck and mid-section of Keith in this match.

Keith fires himself back up as Mansoor attempts to land forearm shots of his own. Keith lands some forearm shots onto Mansoor and a running forearm that takes Mansoor out. Ultimately, Keith lands a tiger driver on Mansoor to pin him for the three-count. This was a very fun match coming back from intermission. Keith looks incredible as always, and Mansoor is doing a great job re-inventing himself on the independent wrestling scene.

Masha Slamovich vs. Marina Shafir

Winner: Draw due to a double KO

This was one of the more anticipated matches of the night. Masha Slamovich makes her way down to the ring first, and the Revolver faithful loves her. Marina Shafir makes her way down to the ring next, and the fans give her the same reaction. Slamovich and Shafir are not only two of the top women in Wrestling Revolver today, but they are two of the top stars and it’s very easy to see why.

The match starts with some mat work between the two women, and a big feeling out process of sorts. Slamovich attempts an armbar, but Shafir rolls out of it and the two have a staredown. Slamovich uses a handful of hair to get the upper hand on Shafir and throws Shafir like she’s nothing. Shafir tries to fight back, but Slamovich rolls threw with a cross armbreaker.

Shafir fights back into the match when Slamovich charges her in the corner, and she gets her knees up. Slamovich locks in a big sleeper hold, that ends with Shafir getting out of it and gaining her bearings back. Ultimately, the match ends when both women knock each other out with a big boot. When both women gain their bearings, Slamovich calls for five more minutes with Shafir. Shafir leaves the ring and says “F**K NO.”

Wrestling Revolver World Tag Title match: Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson) (c) vs. MonsterSauce (Lance Archer and Alex Zayne)

Winners: AND STILL the Wrestling Revolver World Tag Team Champions, Grizzled Young Veterans

The co-main event of this show saw the Grizzled Young Veterans, James Drake, and Zack Gibson, put their Wrestling Revolver World Tag Team Titles on the line against MonsterSauce, Lance Archer, and Alex Zayne. The match starts with Drake and Zayne kicking things off for their respective teams. Drake quickly tries to target the arm of Zayne, but Zayne counters and the two men engage in a feeling-out process of sorts.

After Gibson tags in, Zayne tags in the Monster, Lance Archer. Archer and Gibson have a faceoff that ends with those two men now having a feeling-out process. However, that doesn’t last long as Archer uses all of his body weight to send Gibson crashing down to the mat. Archer tags in Zayne, and they continue to beat up on Gibson. However, this doesn’t last long as Drake lands a big forearm on Zayne who crashes and burns to the floor.

The Grizzled Young Veterans are now firmly in the driver’s seat of this match, as the two men take turns beating down Zayne. Zayne is finally able to land the hot tag on Archer, and he takes both members of GYV out. After some more great back-and-forth action, ultimately the match ends when the referee disqualifies Archer for using the chair that he never used. This was a fun match and an interesting ending that set up another match between these two terrific teams.

Wrestling Revolver World Title Match: Alex Shelley (c) vs. JD Griffey vs. Alan Angels vs. Exodus Prime

Winner: AND STILL Wrestling Revolver Champion, Alex Shelley

JD Griffey makes his way down to the ring first, accompanied by his entourage in Team Hayabusa. He doesn’t exactly get a warm reaction, as fans chant “SHUT THE F**K UP!” to his announcer. Alan Angels makes his way down to the ring next, followed by Exodus Prime who gets arguably the biggest reaction of the match. Last but not least, the champion himself, Alex Shelley, makes his entrance into the ring to a big mixed reaction from the Revolver faithful.

The match starts with the referee kicking out all of Griffey’s entourage. Shelley immediately targets Angels, as Griffey targets Prime, and the match gets off to a hot start very quickly. However, shortly after the match starts, Angels and Prime have a faceoff that ends with Prime standing tall. Griffey targets Prime and the two men have a face-off inside the ring. Griffey stands tall as Angels comes back into the fray and gets the better of Griffey.

Angels attempts a high-risk move on Griffey, but Griffey moves out of the way, leading to Shelley to charge at Angels. Shelley lands a huge spear on Prime with Angels and is seemingly in control of the whole match at this point. He then locks in a double armbar on Griffey and Angels, but Prime saves the matchup. Shelley lands a dragon screw takedown onto Prime, now controlling him as well. The four men continue to go at it with Shelley seemingly remaining in control.

As Angels makes his way up top, Matthew Palmer makes his way down to the ring and distracts him to help Shelley. After some terrific back-and-forth action, ultimately it’s Shelley who retains the title after he hits a low blow on Prime, and rolls him. This was a fantastic main event match to cap off a fantastic show.

Hello, my name is Scott Mitchell and I have been a professional wrestling fan since 2005. Like everyone the first promotion I really fell in love with is the WWE. However, as I got older, I got largely into the greatness known as independent wrestling. Independent wrestling has turned into one of my biggest passions. Please enjoy!
