On Sunday, February 18th, Create A Pro held its big event, “Top Guys Only.” The event streamed live on the Major Pod Network Twitch.

The show had a lot of fun moments and matches, including the debut of TNA Legend, Eric Young. The show was headlined by a big semi-final match in the Create A Pro Women’s Championship Tournament between Gabby Forza and Notorious Mimi. We also saw a massive four-way main event between Bronson, Vargas, TJ Crawford, and Dante Drago to crown a new number-one contender for the Create A Pro Championship, a big 10-man tag team match that showed some of the best Create A Pro has to offer, and so much more.

Create A Pro TV Championship Match: Jake Lang (c) vs. Phil Cardigan

Winner: AND STILL Create A Pro TV Champion, Jake Lang

Phil Cardigan kicks off the show and the fans are firmly behind him. Cardigan is truly one of the most popular stars at Create A Pro. Despite his popularity, Cardigan has never held a singles title in Create A Pro and looks to change that tonight. Jake Lang makes his way down to the ring next and he does not get the same response from the fans. The fans boo him out of the building, but it has very little effect on Lang.

Lang charges at Cardigan as soon as the bell rings and attacks him from behind. He continues to beat down Cardigan all around ringside. Despite trying to fight back, Cardigan can’t mount any offense in the early part of this match. Lang sends Cardigan back into the ring but spends too much time taunting. This allows Cardigan to drink his coffee. Cardigan then throws Lang into the ring the hard way and fires up. Cardigan lands a huge spinebuster on Lang for just a two-count.

However, Cardigan’s little flurry on offense doesn’t last long as Lang kicks the middle rope into the groin of Cardigan and follows it up with a big boot completely changing the tide of this match. Despite Cardigan’s valiant efforts to fight back with no coffee, it was not enough as ultimately Lang would land a huge spear, followed by his finishing move to win the match. This was a fun opening contest. Cardigan remains very, VERY over with the Create A Pro crowd, and Lang continues his great run as the Create A Pro TV Champion.

Create A Pro Mayhem Medal Match: The Sweeper (c) vs. Tristian Kyle vs. Love Doug vs. JGeorge

Winner: AND STILL Create A Pro Mayhem Medal Owner, The Sweeper

Tristian Kyle makes his way down to the ring first. Kyle is one of the young up-and-comers at Create A Pro, and the charisma and talent he oozes is special. Love Doug makes his way down to the ring next and gets a big ovation from the crowd. JGeorge is out next and is accompanied by his film crew. The Sweeper is the final competitor in this match, and the Create A Pro Mayhem Medal owner. He gets a big pop as he is another one of the most popular competitors at Create A Pro today.

The Sweeper wastes little time hyping the crowd up as he begins sweeping and the fans chant “SWEEP IT UP SWEEPER, SWEEP IT UP!” and “SWEEP!” simultaneously. The match begins with JGeorge, and Love Doug getting the better of Kyle. The Sweeper then sweeps Kyle outside of the ring and onto the floor. All four men lock each other in a sleeper hold, but Love Doug drops down and sends everyone flying. Kyle charges at Doug, but Doug makes him pay and takes down both Kyle and The Sweeper at the same time.

Love Doug lands a big dive to the outside onto Kyle. This draws out JGeorge who lands a tope suicida onto both of them. The Sweeper makes his way to the top rope with the broom and takes out all three competitors in the match as he rides the broom right onto them. This was a very fun and entertaining match, but in the end, it was The Sweeper who landed a running knee onto Kyle to retain his Mayhem Medal.

Submission Match: Nick Robles vs. Liam Davis

Winner: Nick Robles

This rivalry is one that started over the past couple of months on CAP TV but went to new levels at the last Create A Pro TV special, Steamboat Willie. Liam Davis makes his way down to the ring first to many boos from the Create A Pro faithful. On the flip side, Nick Robles comes out and gets quite the opposite reaction as the fans of Create A Pro love the guy, and it’s very easy to see why. Robles has been on quite the run lately, and a win here tonight could do big things for him.

The match kicks off with some chain wrestling between both men. Davis tries to target the arm of Robles in the early going of this match. However, Robles fights back with a big arm drag onto Davis sending him to the corner to regroup. This match fits Davis very well as his new game in wrestling is a lot of joint manipulation moves. After some more good back-and-forth between Davis and Robles, Davis lands a big forearm on the back of the neck of Robles.

Davis targets this area to lock in a potential submission hold on the “Rocker Boy.” He even goes as far as to use the ropes to try and choke out Robles. Robles tries to fight back, but Davis remains two steps ahead at all times. However, Davis gets a little too cocky and this allows Robles to fight back, and fire himself up. Ultimately, the match was won when Robles locked in a last chancery, forcing Davis to tap out. This was an excellent technical bout by both men, and Robles continues to look great in the early going of his career.

Create A Pro Women’s Championship Tournament Semi-Finals Match: Nat Castle vs. Little Mean Kathleen

Winner: Nat Castle (w/ Sebastian Amor and Iutik Sucio)

Nat Castle makes her way down to the ring alongside Sebastian Amor. She gets a big mixed reaction from the crowd. Little Mean Kathleen is out next, and she has the crowd majorly behind her. After going through the audience and saying hi to everyone, Little Mean Kathleen finally heads back into the ring and kicks things off with Castle. Castle lands a couple of slaps on Kathleen before running outside of the ring. Amor gets in front of Castle to protect her, but Kathleen sends Amor into the guardrail. When they get back into the ring, Kathleen gets the match in her favor with a big airplane spin into an even bigger Samoan drop.

However, Castle hangs up Kathleen over the top rope to completely change the momentum of the match. Castle lands big running knees on Kathleen who’s seated in the corner for just a two-count. Castle continues the punishment on Kathleen, as she hopes to get to the finals of this tournament. Latina Spice then continues the onslaught by landing two suplexes on Kathleen. However, Kathleen counters the final suplex with a small package roll-up but only gets a two-count.

Amor gets involved to help Castle multiple times in this match. However, Kathleen fights back into the match when both women land a big clothesline on each other. Castle however spikes Kathleen on her head with a DDT. Castle accidentally throws some spice into the face of Amor sending him to the floor. Just as it looked like Kathleen had the match won, Iutik Sucio makes the save for Castle. This allows Castle to knock out Kathleen with a foreign object and pin her for the three-count to secure her spot in the finals.

Top Guys 10-man Tag Team Match: Aaron Rourke, Even Stevens (Stephen Azure & Steve Somerset), Adrenaline Express (VSK and Eric James) vs. Eric Young, Brian Myers, Bobby Orlando, Midlife Express (CPA & Kevin Tibbs)

Winners: Eric Young, Brian Myers, Bobby Orlando, and Midlife Express

This was arguably one of the more anticipated matches of the night. This could be arguably one of the biggest 10-man tag team matches in Create A Pro history. On one side you have the Create A Pro Champion Aaron Rourke, the Create A Pro Tag Team Champions, Adrenaline Express, and the Even Stevens. On the other side, you have TNA Legend Eric Young, TNA star and Create A Pro Founder Brian Myers, Bobby Orlando, and Midlife Express. This match was about as chaotic as it got, but was very, VERY fun.

The match kicks off with Kevin Tibbs and Stephen Azure starting things off for their respective teams. Tibbs and Azure start things off with some chain wrestling. Then, Tibbs lands a big kick to the back of Azure and gets momentum in the early going of this match. Tibbs tags in CPA and CPA and Tibbs takes down one half of the former Create A Pro Tag Team Champions. However, Azure escapes and tags in his fellow partner, Steve Somerset. Somerset gets tripped up by CPA twice before he finally lands a running knee on CPA. CPA however, follows this up by landing his version of a 619 on Somerset.

Brian Myers and Aaron Rourke tag into the match next and this gets a big ovation from the fans. Adrenaline Express charges the corner to try to save Rourke, but Eric Young stops them. This leads to Rourke and VSK being put in a tree of woe in opposite corners, and Young and Myers stepping on their groin areas while taunting the crowd. Myers tries to pin Rourke but just gets a two-count. Bobby Orlando tags in and continues the onslaught on the Create A Pro champion. However, this changes when Eric James illegally comes into the ring and lands a huge superkick on Orlando to change the tides of this match.

Orlando tries to fight back, to not much avail. Adrenaline Express lands a shattered machine on Orlando but James is only able to get a two-count. Orlando lands a huge cutter on VSK and hits Eric Young with the hot tag. Young comes into the match and quickly takes out both members of the Even Stevens and VSK. After some more phenomenal back-and-forth wrestling, all five men on Young’s team land a simultaneous piledriver on someone from the other team. Eric Young piledrives VSK in the center of the ring and pins him to win the match for his team This was probably my favorite spot of the night, and this match was truly great. All of the best of Create A Pro showed up and showed out in this match, including the founder Brian Myers, and TNA Legend, Eric Young.

(Intermission)

Coming back from intermission, Kal Starvins brings out the clipboard and the petition to reinstate Evil Kip. This draws out the “One-Lunged Angel” himself, Bryce Donovan. For Kip to be reinstated, Donovan must sign the petition, being the final name needed. Donovan cuts a promo saying that he’s heard fans tell him to both sign it and not to.

Chants of “WE WANT KIP!” and “NO!” break out throughout Lynbrook. He says that despite all the bad things Kip has done to him, everyone seems to want him back. Donovan says the only problem he’s been having is he doesn’t know if he can trust Kip. This draws the fans to chant “WE TRUST KIP!” and Donovan says he trusts what the fans want.

Just as Donovan is about to announce his decision, Ariela Nyx and the Birds of the Sun make their way down to the ring. Nyx announces a handicap match that puts Bryce Donovan against the Birds of the Sun.

Bryce Donovan vs. Birds of the Sun (GKM and Leo Sparrow)

Winner: Evil Kip and Bryce Donovan

This match starts with both Birds of The Sun members attacking Donovan from behind and gaining the upper hand. Leo Sparrow remains in control of the former Create A Pro Champion, but Donovan sends both Sparrow and GKM packing to the outside. Just as it looks like Donovan was about to sign the petition for Kal Starvins, the Birds of the Sun attacked Donovan and sent him into the ring post.

After some more beat down, Donovan calls for the clipboard again. This leads to him being attacked from behind again by Sparrow. Sparrow spits on the clipboard and chucks it to the floor. Finally, Donovan signs the petition which means Evil Kip has been reinstated. Starvins gets brought to the back and Kip’s music hits.

Kip makes his way back to a massive pop. Arguably the biggest of the night. Kip calls for the tag and Donovan obliges. Kip comes in and goes to town on the Birds of the Sun. Donovan and Kip go to hug it out, but Kip has better ideas. Kip lands a knee-lift on GKM and pins him to win the match for his team.

After the match, the two men hug it out and the fans go nuts. This match and segment overall were a lot of fun and it’s awesome seeing Kip back as a member of the roster. From the most hated, to arguably the most loved, Kip has done it all.

#1 Contender’s Match for the Create A Pro Championship: Bronson vs. TJ Crawford vs. Dante Drago vs. Vargas

Winner: Dante Drago

Bronson makes his way down to the ring first with the fans very much behind him. TJ Crawford and Dante Drago are out next. Then, Vargas (who is accompanied by Ariela Nyx) makes his way out next. Dante Drago is now a recent graduate from Binghamton University, so it remains to be seen what’s next for the “Frat Star.” This match pits four of the greatest Create-A-Pro stars around today against each other to get a shot for the top prize in the sport.

The match starts with Bronson, Drago, and Crawford getting rid of Vargas for the time being. Bronson sends Drago crashing to the floor. We then get a faceoff between Crawford and Bronson, who have a lot of history together. Vargas, who comes back with a vengeance, takes out both Bronson and Crawford with a double clothesline.

Drago attempts a chokeslam on Vargas, to no avail. Vargas and Bronson end up having a big staredown with fans chanting “BEEF” for their pleasure. Bronson follows that up with a huge spinebuster on Vargas and Drago and Bronson have a faceoff now. This ends with a big dropkick from Drago taking Bronson off his feet.

Bronson drinks some of his savage sauce and attempts a doublehanded chokeslam on Drago. However, Drago counters and tries to get a chokeslam of his own, but this doesn’t work. Drago eventually hits a chokeslam from the second rope on Vargas later in the match in a very cool spot. The match continues and we get some more great back-and-forth action by all four men. Ultimately, Drago pins TJ Crawford with a brainbuster.

This could have very well been the match of the night, with fans chanting “FIGHT FOREVER!” I don’t think I’m alone in that sentiment. All four of these men have built the Create A Pro that we know today. A match at the next Create A Pro show between Aaron Rourke and Dante Drago is very enticing. Despite many people who may count him out, Drago has shown time and time again why he is one of the best in Create A Pro today and why he is way more than just a funny guy.

Create A Pro Women’s Championship Tournament Semi-Finals: Gabby Forza vs. Notorious Mimi

Winner: Gabby Forza

Earlier in the night, we saw “Latina Spice” Nat Castle square off with LMK in the other semi-final match. Castle would be victorious, punching her spot into the finals of the Create A Pro Women’s Championship Tournament. Notorious Mimi makes her way out to the ring first and gets some applause from the crowd. However, the clear-cut fan favorite in this match is none other than “Your Homie, The Gnomie,” Gabby Forza. Forza has been on quite the run in the early going of her career, and her future is very bright in the wrestling business.

Chants of “LET’S GO GABBY!” ring throughout the venue and the match kicks off with a little bit of sportsmanship between the two women. Mimi and Forza then start with some chain wrestling and a big feeling-out process of sorts. After some more back-and-forth, Mimi takes down Forza and targets the arm. In doing this, she gains control and momentum over the match. Forza tries to use her strength to fight back, but Mimi does an excellent job of staying two steps ahead of Forza the whole time.

However, Forza hooks the leg of Mimi and lands a big German suplex to change the tides of this matchup. The two women exchange strikes in the middle of the ring with Forza gaining the upper hand. Forza measures Mimi for the spear, but Mimi moves out of the way and rolls up Forza for just a two-count. Mimi locks in a big armbar, but Forza is once again able to counter with a roll-up of her own for just a two-count. Forza lands a spear on Mimi, but Mimi rolls under the bottom rope to create distance between her and Forza.

Ultimately after some more terrific back-and-forth action, Forza lands a massive spear on Mimi turning her inside out to win the match. After the match, Nat Castle along with her managers come out and attack Forza. Castle calls for a door and just as it looks bad for Forza, Bronson makes the save and puts Sebastian Amor crashing through the door. The show ends with Bronson standing tall in the ring, alongside Forza as Nat Castle and her help retreat.

The finals are set! At the next show, we will see Nat Castle faceoff with Gabby Forza for the Create A Pro Women’s Championship. This show was fantastic from top to bottom and it was even better seeing Forza and Mimi main event this show. The budding women’s division at Create A Pro feels like such a big deal lately, and that’s because it genuinely is. Between Gabby Forza, Nat Castle, and Zuleyka, the amount of homegrown women that Create A Pro has is very special.

Hello, my name is Scott Mitchell and I have been a professional wrestling fan since 2005. Like everyone the first promotion I really fell in love with is the WWE. However, as I got older, I got largely into the greatness known as independent wrestling. Independent wrestling has turned into one of my biggest passions. Please enjoy!
