Opening Contest: Cole Rivera vs. Minoru Suzuki
Minoru Suzuki pops Cole Rivera in the mouth, so Rivera tries some forearms in retaliation to no effect. Minoru quickly grabs the sleeper and hits the Gotch Style Piledriver for the win. Quick night for The King. *
Match Two: C4 vs. Cartel Del Los Villanos
The Villanos are Chris Nastyy and Sonico. Cody Chhun starts with Nastyy. Pretty even exchange at the outset with Nastyy getting a lucha armdrag. Cody gets his own armdrag and a dropkick, then makes the tag to Guillermo Rosas. Double dropkick from C4, and Rosas delivers a suplex for a one count. Sonico dropkicks Cody and hits a meteora as the Cartel takes over. Nastyy hops in with a rolling senton for two. Sonico sends Chhun face first into the buckle and Nastyy gets a slingshot elbow for two. Slingblade gets another two on Cody. Wheelbarrow splash from the Cartel but Rosas breaks up the pin as Chhun is taking an extended beating here. Cody ducks a pair of right hands and dives to tag in Rosas, who enters as a house of fire. Bulldog/clothesline combo takes out both members of the Cartel. Rosas runs through Sonico and slams Nastyy on top of his own partner for a two count. The Cartel escapes to the floor, but Chhun quickly hits them with a tope suicida and Rosas cannonballs Sonico for two. Cody tags in but Nastyy gets a Lethal Injection, followed by Sonico flying through the ropes with a tope con hilo onto C4 outside. Nastyy follows with a springboard somersault plancha. The Cartel double team Chhun but can’t keep him down. Chhun and Sonico go up, which ends with a double Cody Cutter on the Cartel. Assisted sit-out powerbomb onto Nastyy gives C4 the victory. Very good and energetic tag match. ***½
Match Three: Sid Sylum vs. Brooke Havoc
Nice reaction here for Brooke Havoc. She mocks Sid Sylum and uses here speed to avoid some strikes and chop the leg of the big man. Sid quickly comes back with a big boot to the face. Sylum steps on the hair next and tosses Brooke across the ring. He puts Havoc on the top buckle where she dives off with a crossbody and rolls up Sid for two. Brooke sneaks in a Stunner and some forearms, then hits a nice tornado DDT for a near fall. Springboard splash misses and Sylum hits a double-underhook powerbomb but only gets two. Sid with a double-leg and he puts his feet on the ropes for the stack pin. Bummer. **
He continues the attack post-match until Drexl runs in to put an end to that.
Match Four: G Sharpe vs. Ryan Clancy
They trade some reversals and rollups and stand off. Headscissors from Ryan Clancy and an arm ringers puts G Sharpe down to the mat. Fancy wins a test of strength, then does a criss-cross with Sharpe where he ends with a monkey flip. G comes back with a chop and inverted atomic drop to take over for the first time. Snap suplex gets a two count. Abdominal stretch applied but Clancy works his way out of it and connects with a lariat. Butterfly suplex with a bridge gets two. Sharpe counters with an enzuigiri and bridging German suplex for two. Fancy picks the leg and puts on a Sharpshooter but Sharpe makes the ropes. Dropkick misses and we get a pinfall reversal sequence. Clancy connects with the dropkick this time and gets the win. ***
Match Five: Matt Brannigan vs. Drexl
I’ve missed seeing these Matt Brannigan entrances. Drexl comes out and makes this a death match and grabs a pair of kendo sticks. Brannigan, unhappy with the quality of said sticks, brings in some lightsabers instead. Drexl murders him with it sending Brannigan to the floor. Matt returns with tacks, no wait they are tic-tacs and bodyslams Drexl onto them. Drexl brings in some barbed wire so Brannigan drinks some more to counter, then grabs some video tapes of the classic Pamela Anderson movie, Barb Wire. That backfires on him as he gets clocked in the head with one and Drexl sets up a table. He gets distracted by Matt’s dog, while Matt uses the table to set up his merch. Drexl agrees to buy an 8×10, then uses it to slice at the fingers of Matt. On the apron they trade some shots, and Drexl falls into the fans and crowdsurfs. Brannigan joins in and hammers away as we head back to the ring. Drexl hits some headbutts, then grabs a staplegun but there’s no staples in it. So Matt gets post-it notes instead and they stick each other with some insults. They apologize to each other and have a group hug with the referee, then share a drink. Drexl passes out from that, and Matt falls on top of him to get the pin. *
Match Six: Miko Alana vs. Haley Dylan
Miko Alana takes her down by the waist and tries a wheelbarrow slam but Haley Dylan rolls through. Dylan grabs a guillotine choke but Alana suplexes out of it and gets a two count. Basement clothesline gets another two. Senton and a series of short-arm clotheslines, then a big splash for another two. Suplex attempt is countered with a small package by Dylan, who follows with a dragonscrew. Another out of the corner, a running knee strike and spinning backfist gets a close two. Haley climbs but Alana chops her and climbs up to deliver a superplex. Falcon Arrow by Miko gets just two. Air Raid Crash again only gets two. They duke it out, ending with them trading German suplexes. Dylan gives her a Finlay Roll for two and puts on an anklelock. Shining Wizard finishes for Haley. Solid match. **½
Match Seven: 8-Man Tag Match – Flamin’ Aces, Jiah Jewell & Zeb Saint One vs. Los Suavecitos, Jordan Cruz & Ocean Avery
Jordan Cruz and Ocean Avery enter last and immediately go on the attack before the bell. The babyfaces quickly clear the ring and isolate on Avery. Saint lands a superkick but Cruz casually boots him in the head knocking him out to the floor. The Suavecitos enter with some double teaming. Ricky Gee gets a vertical suplex for two. Cruz and Avery take their turn next beating on Saint. Saint manages a rebound clothesline to Cruz and makes the hot tag to Jiah Jewell. Cajun Thunder suplex to Cruz as Spencer Scott comes in to take out the Suavecitos. Butterfly suplex to Avery and a brainbuster on Cruz gets two. Zaye Perez flies with a tope suicida to the floor. Saint and Jewell hit stereo dives to the floor, and Jordan Cruz finishes the sequence with an impressive tope con hilo. Powerbomb from Avery onto Perez gets two. Jewell charges but misses and the Suavecitos hit a DVD/senton combo for a two count. Doomsday Device from Cruz and Avery fails on Saint, but an assisted Ghettoberg connects. Flamin Aces get a Destroyer and a full-nelson/assisted neckbreaker gets the pin for the good guys. Fast-paced action in this one. **¾
Sid Sylum runs in after the match, but Drexl and a returning Jaiden make the save.
Main Event: Prestige World Championship – Kevin Blackwood (c) vs. Amira
Technical exchange which goes pretty evenly. Amira gets some armdrags and a rollup (Ricky Gibson – “I taught her that”). Chop to the chest of the champion but a flying headscissors is blocked and countered into a tombstone by Kevin Blackwood. Snap suplex gets a two count. Kevin knocks Amira down with a lariat, then wrenches on the neck to wear her down. Amira fights out and plants Blackwood with a tornado DDT. Top-rope crossbody connects followed by a Samoan Drop for two. She can’t get a Boston Crab and Kevin quickly reverses and puts his own version on. Amira punches her way out of it but cannot get a German suplex, and the champion delivers a DVD for a close two count. Firestorm misses as Amira gets a rolling forearm and a small package for two. Blackwood comes right back with a doublestomp, but Amira shakes that off and hits the German suplex this time. Hurricanrana gets another two count, and now Amira gets the Boston Crab as Blackwood gets to the ropes. Stacked powerbomb and a brainbuster gets another close two. Amira sets him on the top rope looking for a superplex, but she gets headbutted down. She tries again and this time gets a top-rope rana followed by a German suplex with a bridge for two. Spinning backfist is ducked and Kevin delivers a shotgun dropkick. Air Raid Crash in the corner, followed by a brainbuster but Amira kicks out at one somehow. She charges right into an Exploder suplex in the corner and a Helluva Kick. Firestorm hits this time and Blackwood retains the title. Really good match, as Blackwood was going out putting on bangers until the end. ***¾
Final Thoughts: A cool atmosphere for this show with a smaller venue but a red-hot crowd. The main event was excellent, and the C4 tag match also stood out to me on this show. A fun watch all around.
