Sorry for not posting any new news megaposts in a while, but I have been keeping the site, twitter, and the facebook page update as much as I could. Just somethings take a backseat when life calls. Anyways 2010 is almost over and 2011 is right around the corner, at this time wrestling in Japan is slowing down for a bit and most of the talent are taking breaks after a long year of putting their bodies, and souls on the line day after day.
So with that there is also not much news coming around at this time, but what I am bringing to you guys this week is the final cards for this year for a few of the promotions in Japan. Plus some of my own personal notes, more directly with NJPW because they have the final biggest event for 2010.

So let’s get into this shall we…

New Japan will be rapping up the year with their final big event for 2010 that is coming up on Dec.11th

NJPW “New Japan Alive PPV”, 12/11/2010 (Sat) 18:00
Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium

(0) King Fale vs. Hiromu Takahashi
(1) TENZAN returns to Osaka: Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Gedo
~ Tenzan returned to action last month at the NEVER.4 show and is looking to get back up into title contention sooner than later. Though going against a junior may sound like an instant win for Tenzan, Gedo is not a pushover and is known for utilizing any means necessary to at least catch Tenzan off guard.
(2) Manabu Nakanishi & Koji Kanemoto vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Tama Tonga
(3) Special Singles Match: Tiger Mask vs. Tomohiro Ishii
~ For the last while now, Ishii has been getting under the mask of Tiger. Smashing Tiger with weapons and getting DQ’d in the process. Pretty much doing everything he can to make Tiger unable to function at a 100% against him. Though it now comes down to these two finally meeting one on one. Will Ishii do something even more drastic during the match or will the fan favorite Tiger finally breath a sigh of relief.
(4) Special Tag Match: Yujiro Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito vs. Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin (TNA)
~ NO LIMIT and the Motor City Machine Guns have plenty of history most notably their match from Wrestle Kingdom III January 4, 2009 when The Guns defeated NO LIMIT for the IWGP Jr Heavy Tag Belts. Since then NO LIMIT has made the jump up to “Heavyweight” class in NJPW and MCMG’s have went on to hold the Tag Team belts in TNA. Both teams have definitely almost mirrored themselves in the tag team division for the most part. Both have something to prove over one another and this match should be definitely a must see before it happens.
(5) IWGP Tag Team Title Match: Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson (c) vs. Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue
~ The Tag Belts have definitely jump from champions to champions this year with Bad Intentions finally getting the tag belts around their waist on June 19th, 2010 when they in fact defeated Blue Justice in a 3 Way match that also involved NO LIMIT. These three teams have been back in forth this year, with Bad Intentions finally looking like the team that has come out ahead. This match is either going to set Bad Intentions ahead as the top tag team in Japan or it is going to take back full circle with Blue Justice putting the belts back around their waist.
Though something that is reminded to me personally is that TNA’s Beer Money, inc. holds as pinfall over Bad Intentions back in Oc. 22nd, 2010. So whoever wins this match could end up facing Beer Money at the the next big event Wrestle Kingdom V.

(6) IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship Match: Prince Devitt (c) vs. Davey Richards
~ Prince Devitt has definitely finally broken out as the solid wrestler that he has been building towards in the past few years and has solidified him as one of the best in Japan. Richards, one of the best in the USA Indy scene, has also seen good success for himself in Japan this year. Richards’ brutal style, submissions skills, and his very in your face demeanor is very reminiscent back to the days of the Dynamite Kid and that is how he is sort of being booked right now. This will definitely be one of the tougher matches for Devitt, but like he has shown he is a fighter and can come out of nowhere and turn the tide of the match in his favor. This is going to be a great match whether you dislike Richards or you enjoy what he offers to wrestling world. Devitt has been solid in every one of his matches this year and is definitely not going to leave the event without his belt.
(7) Special Tag Match: Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs. Toru Yano & Takashi Iizuka
~ There is no denying that these four men have history with one another, used to be stable mates, and with Makabe & Yano former tag champions. This match will have bad blood behind it and in the end should put one of these two teams over the other in terms of power in NJPW.
(8) Special Singles Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hirooki Gotoh
~ This match is being called the next contender for the IWGP Title. Both of these men were though to have been in the run to be the next title challenger, but that was not made so when Kojima chose Nakamura for the next defense. Gotoh was already looking as the true next challenger, but Tanahashi has not been that far behind him. Gotoh has beaten Nakamura on multiple occasions this year and is looked at by many as the one who can dethrone Kojima. Though that would be the case if he can get through New Japan’s ace Tanahashi first. This match should be good in most aspects, both men have great talents in the ring and have something to lose and gain in being in this match.
(9) IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Satoshi Kojima (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
~ Kojima has been on a roll ever since leaving All Japan back in May of this year. With winning the G1 Climax in August and beating Makabe for the IWGP Title in October. He only has one blemish on his record so far and that is by the hands of Shinsuke Nakamura. There has been a lot of controversy as who would be the next challenger for Kojima with Nakamura looking to be the last choice following his loss to Hirooki Gotoh. Though the champion has a bone to pick with Nakamura and that is who he called out. President Sugibayashi even though that Gotoh or even Tanahashi would have been a more worthy candidate, but as we can see Nakamura is in the title picture and will have something to prove otherwise he may be put out the title picture for a long while. A win for either man will automatically place them as the champion in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom V.

NJPW “New Japan Alive”, 12/12/2010 (Sun) 16:00
Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium

(1) TENZAN returns to Nagoya: Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Jado
~ If Tenzan can make it through Gedo at 100% he will then have his partner Jado, who in his own right has has pretty much the exact same amount of talent as his partner. If Tenzan makes it through both days he definitely will be on the right track to hopefully face the championship caliber talent in no time.
(2) Manabu Nakanishi & Koji Kanemoto vs. Tama Tonga & King Fale
(3) Giant Bernard, Karl Anderson & Tiger Mask vs. Takashi Iizuka, Tomohiro Ishii & Davey Richards
(4) Special Tag Match: Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin (TNA)
~ Just like with NO LIMIT, MCMG are no strangers to Apollo 55 especially with one of their last encounters that I remember happening in July of 2009. These two teams had an explosive match then and I suspect to see another one come the 12th.
(5) Special Singles Match: Yuji Nagata vs. Yujiro Takahashi
(6) Special Singles Match: Wataru Inoue vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
(7) Special Tag Match: Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs. Tohru Yano & Masato Tanaka (Zero1)
(8) Special Singles Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tetsuya Naitoh
~ These two are one and one heading into this match with Naitoh holding a victory from the G1 Climax and Tanahashi just a few months later on. Naitoh has definitely shined this year and is looking to take his success into the New Year. Though Tanahashi is not called the Ace of New Japan for no reason, and is looking to maintain his position in the company for as long as he possibly is able.
(9) Special Singles Match: Hirooki Goto vs. Satoshi Kojima
~ If Kojima holds onto his belt come the day before, he will then have a tough challenge set before him as he faces Hirooki Gotoh in a singles non-title match-up. Gotoh has a lot to prove and if he can managa to get a pinfall over the champion then he definitely earns his shot at the belt. Though if Tanahashi wins the day before, that will definitely put more behind this match and vice-versa if Kojima some how does not make it out as champion. Definitely a lot to think about and there is a lot that can happen just less than a month before Wrestle Kingdom V on 1/4/2010.
Following those last two event New Japan will only have 3 more shows to round out the year, and then it will be Wrestle Kingdom V time on January 4th, 2010!

News:
PhotobucketWhat I want to mention in regards to news for Zero1 is more in regards to the late Shinya Hashimoto’s son, Daichi Hashimoto. Daichi has been in training to be a pro wrestling since the Summer when Masahiro Chono and Shinjiro Ohtani announced that they will be taking him under their wing to train him to be a proper professional wrestler.

Hashimoto said back in Sept. 2010 in his first in-ring exhibition fight for Z-1 “I wasn’t able to do much. I’m embarrassed and sorry to my father,” he sobbed. “I want to become a professional wrestler like my father.”

I am personally going to be keeping my eye on Hashimoto and his training in the next few months before his scheduled in-ring debut that is currently set for March 6, 2011.

This was one of the craziest shows last year and who can forget the 108 Man Battle Royal that happened that year. Really cool to see and though this year we may not get an even bigger Battle Royal this show is definitely pulling together stars from other promotions like KAI from All Japan and Takeshi Morishima & Shuhei Taniguchi from NOAH. This could be called the Wrestle Kingdom of the Indies in Japan, a culmination of a dozen or so more minor companies all working to show some appreciation to the fans in attendance and in another sense trying to putting their own names on the map.

  1. Awesome that GOLDEN PINE~! is going to be in the 30-organization battle royal. A gay pineapple has to be the best gimmick ever.
