(The following was written by Joey Eastman, someone who has been on our podcasts many times. After reading what he had to say, I wanted to repost on our website. I encourage everyone to donate what they can. It’s amazing that for all the bad stories I hear about promoters and wrestlers, I’ve heard nothing but good things about Ed Chuman. A number of people in AAW have talked about what a great individual he was. Please read and donate if you can. A donation in our website’s name will be forthcoming.)
Hello everyone,
Two days ago, I talked to Pam Chuman to catch up on things, and she gave me some news that nearly brought me to tears. It’s been 13 months since Eddie passed away, and he still doesn’t have a head stone for his plot. I nor many other people were aware of this, but Ed put so much into the business, supporting the people that he loved and believed in, that his debt piled up over the last couple of years. Add onto that all of the medical bill, funeral costs, and everything else that a widow has to deal with, and it just never happened.
Once I heard this, my mind started racing about how I can help make this right. Ed was a father to me and so many other guys and girls in the industry. He gave, and never asked for anything in return except hard work and dedication to the business. Whether it was simple advice, or paying the boys out of his own pocket when a promoter lost his ass, Ed did it and never asked anything in return.
Ideas started popping in my head. Running a show would only cost more money and not guarantee that Ed gets his head stone. We can make T-shirts and bumper stickers, but we would have to sell A LOT of shirts. Once I started thinking, and my head cleared I figured to best way to get this done would be how Ed did everything when it came to wrestling. GIVE!!! That was how Eddie was, why can’t we give back to Eddie, Pam, and Jen. I talked to Pam and she has now opened up a trust account to help get the ball rolling. I opened up a paypal account for online donations, and it will link up only to Ed’s trust fund so only Pam has access to the account.
I’m not asking anyone to blow their paycheck on this. What I’m asking is that people give just a bit, and let’s make this right. Let’s get the word out. Spread this on Facebook, and Twitter. Think about everything that Ed had his hands in, and everything that Eddie supported over the years. All of the times he made us laugh our asses off and was there to offer advice as only he could. Let’s get the word out there and make this right.
I think most people know I work for Sprint and I do corporate sales for them. I’m going to donate $2 for every phone that I sell until there is a head stone on his plot. I’m also going to be taking all of my pay outs (100%) from all indy shows that I work and donating it.
What I’m asking from everyone.
DONATE!
Whether it’s $1, $2, $5 anything helps and will help us reach our goal.
Spread The Word!!!
Put this everywhere. Update you status, even if it’s only for an hour with the ways you can donate. Twitter, Wrestling Message Boards. The power of the internet is at our disposal right now. Let’s get the word out and make this happen!
