There is no greater feeling than driving around downtown Chicago on Black Friday, trying to find parking. Thankfully, 28 dollars and a garage later, we made our way to Excalibur. Just being in the heart of the city and walking into the building, there was a way different atmosphere. My first reaction was it felt a great deal like a Bourbon Street AAW show.

I get up to the second floor and found a spot where I could actually plug my laptop in and produce this report. An extremely generous staff member allowed me the use of an extension cord. I was told some of the wrestlers were uneasy about the atmosphere because while there is a lot of space, the actual area for the show was super small and non-conducive for wrestling. The best way I can describe how the place looks is tiny tower. Yes, I’m talking about the game app. A few people are on each floor, and the building seemingly just goes up and up.

In this report, you’ll be getting a combination of both myself and special guest correspondent Adam Bartolo’s write-up on the matches. This will be more of a straightforward news piece that strictly gives the listings and results. I’ll have a podcast or second write-up with my opinion on what will no doubt be an interesting and historical night of professional wrestling.

Joel Gertner starts out the show with a raunchy introduction. If I could type faster, I’d have done play-by-play for the whole bloody thing. The ring announcer announces the two semifinal matches, one of which is The Sheik vs. El Generico and Kevin Steen vs. Harry Smith. All four men come out. Rinaldo Piven gets the crowd riled up with a promo. He calls his man The Sheik the first R-Pro champion. There’s a U.S.A chant, this despite the fact every other man in the ring is Canadian. Kevin Steen says he’s going to bite Harry Smith’s head off. David Hart Smith says much the same.

The Sheik and El Generico are going to open the show. I guess this is a semifinal match for the R-Pro heavyweight championship.  Strike exchange. Generico gets his three armdrags in. Nine punches in the corner. Sheik gets a low blow. Leg lariat by the generic one. Backbreaker for two. Strike. Sheik crotches Generico. Blatant choking. Bodyslam and elbow drop off the rope. Head first into the buckle. Neckbreaker. He calls for the end but only gets two. Chinlock. Sunset flip by Generico gets two. Sheik decks him. Headbutt to the midsection. Armbar very close to the ropes. Piven becomes involved in the match with choking. More choking. Whip in the corner. Series of clotheslines by Generico. Boot and lariat response. Knee to the gut. Generico low bridge. Generico hits a tope suicidal! Cross body for two. Blue thunder powerbomb blocked. He hits it on  a second try. 1-2-NO!  Generico calls for the end and hits a yakuza. Piven gets up on the apron. Generico becomes distracted. Sheik takes out a spike, chokes Generico, and the referee calls for the bell.

Tag team match featuring Matt Classic and Hallowicked. Classic enters the ring and immediately does a bridge in the middle of the ring drawling applause. Their opponents: Kyle O’Reilly and Tony Kozina. Kozina and Wicked start it off. Armbars and headlocks. Classic continues his slowof Classic. -mo calisthenics on the apron. Kozina with a huracanrana and tags in Kyle. Several hard chops. Quick tags from the STL duo as they wear out Wicked’s left arm. Kyle does squats in front of Classic. Wicked tries to tag but Classic is playing to the crowd. Go to Sleepy Hollow by Kyle.  Swinging DDT by Kyle leads to a guillotine choke and Wicked taps. Classic never entered the ring. Wicked mumbles something on the mike and leaves. Kyle and Kozina challenge for tougher competition.

Jay Bradley vs. Icarus is up next. I smell death. Bradley asserts himself right away with a shove. Icarus tries wrestling and fails. Brutal beating and striking. Lariat and Icarus is dead. Bradley talks about being gone for the last year and having acquired the nickname of lonesome. He mentions women and whiskey going down a whole lot easier after winning.

Darcy Dickson, the new manager of the Briscoes is out for a promo. The crowd, they’re acting like douches. Here they come. The ring announcer mentions some of the VIP guests in attendance. Shane Douglas, Tara, Chet Coppick, and MIKE ADAMLE ARE IN ATTENDANCE! Jay Briscoe makes lewd comments. Gran Akuma makes his way to the ring, but Teddy Hart is nowhere to be found. Akuma asks where Teddy is.  Teddy is the last man out. Jay and Akuma start. Feeling out process as they stay on the mat.  Briscoes about to start a beatdown. Teddy is in now. Quick knee by Mark. Series of punches. Quick slug to the face. Teddy hits a nice bodyslam. Jay saves his partner. Springboard right into a superkick. Teddy hits Project Ciampa for two. Giant boot from Jay. Akuma takes control. Briscoes tear him down on a dive attempt. Huge brawl on the outside. Teddy Hart is going to the freaking second floor for a dive. SUPERPLEX FROM MARK BRISCOE! OH MY GOD!  Briscoe bangs his head against the mat. Double shoulder tackle. Akuma knocked off the apron. Heat segment on Teddy continues. He dives out of the way and hot tags. Twisting kick. Spin wheel kick. Boot from Jay. Akuma with a snap German suplex. Kick by Akuma. Falcon arrow. Mark breaks the count. Rights from Mark. Akuma hits a death valley driver and rolls over. He goes up top and hits a frog splash for two. Double team dragon suplex. Teddy is still selling on the entrance way. Whip and charging forearm. Running dropkick for two. Brainbuster from Mark gets two. Akuma with a leaping enziguri. Cross body for two. Jay and teddy in. DDT and then an implant

DDT. Canadian Destroyer out of a butterfly position. Mark with a shoulder tackle from the outside. Teddy drives him down with a ring my bell. Atomic drop. Leaping DDT. Briscoes on the outside. Teddy asks if they want to see him die. DIVING MOONSAULT dropkick. Springboard doomsday device ends one of the wildest matches I’ve seen in many years. Teddy sells his knee…maybe.

Following the match, Teddy could be seen on the staircase coughing and requesting water. Women’s gauntlet match for the title in a gauntlet match. Some guy in cheerleader drag leads all the women in and he claims he will win the title. We have Cheerleader Melissa, who gets a big hand, Miss December, Sassy Stephie, Serenity, Simply Luscious, Taylor Made, and drag guy. Melissa and Serenity start. Serenity with a lot of hair pulls and ear-aching screaming. Melissa gets the upper hand, a slam, elbow, and a near Serenity and Luscious with clotheslines. Melissa with a cattle mutilation on Steph and another gong. Miss December is in. Taylor Made enters a minute later and six women are in. Just drag guy waiting…Nobody out yet. Drag guy in and all 6 women eye him down. They circle him and stomp him half to death right out of the ring. Luscious, Serenity, and Made sandwiched in the corner and the other three take turns charging into all of them. Drag guy re-enters and throws Steph over, she’s out. December and Made out right after. Four left. Drag eases Luscious over the rope. Melissa eyes Drag and the crowd chants for Melissa. Forearm knocks his wig off! Several clotheslines. Serenity comes back in and Melissa forearms her down. Drag whips Melissa into her turnbuckle and a flying elbow. There needs to be one pin for this match to end. Drag with a chop and German suplex, Melissa charges back with a lariat! She tosses him over and we have two left. Curbstomp by Melissa to Serenity. Air raid crash! 1-2-3 and an immediate gong! Someone named Melanie Cruise in a pair of jeans comes in charging with a vicious spinebuster and pins Melissa for the title. Melanie gets on mike and says this match was the drizzling shits. She calls herself THE legend and no one will ever take the title away from her. She leaves through the crowd.

King of the Night Life championship is up next to be decided as Colt Cabana is going wrestle in a three way contest against Petey Williams and Necro Butcher. Petey Williams is wearing a mask. Even Tara is cheering for Colt Cabana. COMEDY! Petey Williams under a mask is denying his true identity. Necro no sells a foot stomp. Pose off between Necro and Petey. Cabana joins in on the fun. Foot stomp on Petey. Sold. Another on Necro. No sold. Shoulder tackles fail. Necro hits a bodyslam. Cabana tries one and fails. Violence party in the corner. First for Colt. Then for he and Petey. Bulldog on Petey. Colt breaks the count. Clothesline over the top rope. Choke on the middle rope and a dropkick. Necro tries taking his opponents outside. Cabana screams like a little girl when he finally gets taken outside. Brawl outside. Necro sends Cabana into the gong. Double team suplex on Necro. Kick by Petey. Takedown into a sharpshooter. Jabs and a big elbow from Colt. Necro came in just in time for the elbow. Petey with a roll-up for two. Flatliner. All three men back in the ring. Chokeslam into a tiger driver. 1-2-Petey kicks out. Necro takes the rail down. Oh my God. Petey powerbombs Necro on the rail. Springboard lungblower. Elbow. Flying asshole. Kick from Petey. Billy Goat’s Curse! O’Reilly hits Cabana with a bucket. Canadian Destroyer gets three. Petey isn’t happy with Team Ambition for interfering. He takes them both out. Cabana shoves him down. A break-up on the first show! A new record!

Kevin Steen and David Hart Smith in a semifinal R Pro semifinal heavyweight championship match. Steen complains about Smith’s strength. Clothesline misses. Steen hides underneath. He threatens to rape Jason Hardy’s mouth. Quick clothesline takes Steen down. Forearms in the corner. Charge misses. Smith works the arm. Cross armbreaker. Strike by Steen. Elbow to Smith’s head. European uppercuts. Overhead belly-to-belly suplex for a series of two counts. Steen says he’s done. Another uppercut sends him into the gong. Steen slams Smith to the mat. Running senton. Steen gives an up yours to Tara. Crippler crossface followed by a headbutt to the back. Kick to the back and some mocking of Bret Hart. Kicks from Smith and an uppercut. Steen rips at his eyes. At the next show it will be Harry Smith vs. Kevin Steen vs. The Sheik in a three way dance.

Rinaldo Piven comes out with The Sheik and says his man should be declared the champion. Beatdown on Harry Smith. Steen aligns with the Sheik. Smith fights them both off eventually. Show ends. Thanks for reading this report & be sure to check us out for more Resistance Pro coverage to come.
