After a DVR fiasco last week which I still do not fully understand, I’m back with you this week to review another episode of NWA championship Wrestling from Hollywood. I’m not sure what was promoted last week and what wasn’t, so let’s enjoy the show and see what happens.

Note: NWA Hollywood will be taping new television this coming Sunday in Glendale, California, but they’ve yet to use anything they taped last month.

This week’s show opened with a quick mention of Savannah Jack, who just passed away this past week.
1. Ricky Mandel vs. Disco Machine

The announcers play up that Mandel is so distraught about having his Mirror Image title stolen that maybe Disco Machine can get that ever illusiv…e victory.
The fans chant “Where’s your belt” at Mandel, allowing Disco to get the upper hand. Mandel gets past the fans and hits a big boot on Disco. Disco goes for the inside cradle but only gets two. Disco hits his Boogie Woogie Chokebreaker on Mandel for a shocking three-count.

After the match Disco takes the microphone and yells “Disco lives”! A few other members of the roster come out to party with Disco as we go to commercial.
Winner: Disco Machine

2. SoCal Crazy vs. Ray Rosas
Crazy and Rosas start off with very fast-paced action. Crazy goes over the top and takes out Rosas on the outside. Rosas hits an impressive sequence of quick moves for a two-count. Rosas goes high-risk with no reward. Crazy tries to capitalize on Rosas’ miscalculation, but he only gets two. Rosas goes for a German suplex but Crazy rolls through into a surfboard submission. Rosas nails the double-armed DDT.
Rosas takes Crazy up and hits his finisher for the pin.
The announcers play up Rosas’ getting the win without Peter Avalon.
Winner: Ray Rosas
We come back from commercial with Shawn Ricker demanding a world championship rematch with Adam Pearce. Willie Mack comes out instead. He challenges Ricker to a match with both of their championship rematches on the line. Ricker promises to make Mack’s “ass a permanent part of the mat” for interrupting his time.

Ricker is in control early and beats down on Mack. Mack decks Ricker with a kick and gets a two-count.
The announcers are having trouble making sense of the stipulation of this match, as am I. Ricker takes Mack up for a stungun and a powerslam for two. Ricker mounts Mack and just lays in some shots. Mack goes up top, but Ricker turns Mack’s move into a superplex.
Mack hits a swinging slam and a legdrop for two. The DTB only leads to another nearfall.
Ricker goes for his finishing move, but Mack rolls him up for the win.
This was a great match, but with the convoluted stipulation, I’m not sure what Mack earned here.
Winner: Willie Mack

4. M and W with GQ Money vs. Nick Madrid and Joey Chaos

W shows off his power by manhandling Madrid with a spinebuster at the start of this tag team contest. W utilizes a series of knee strikes to weaken Madrid further.
When we come back from commercial, both M and W are still beating down Madrid. After being isolated for a long time Madrid tags in Chaos, but the referee doesn’t see it and forces Chaos to go back.
Chaos comes in and dropkicks W. He lands a Death Valley driver and a Guillotine legdrop. M and W use an umbrella to bust Chaos open and get the pin.
I’m a big fan of this storyline, with Chaos returning to redeem himself after everything the Disorder has caused in the company. That said, M and W are not appropriate names for monster heels, and GQ Money is not appropriate for their crafty heel manager. Other than that, this match was fine.
Winner: M and W

Cedric the Hitman vs. Colt Cabana
Cabana takes a glove and both men start throwing gloves at one another. The announcers jump in with several “the gloves are off” analogies that got really old really fast. Cedric starts to target the arm of Cabana.
Cabana whips Cedric into the ropes, but Cedric comes back with a nice sweep of the arm. Cedric keeps cranking the arm while using the top rope for leverage.
Cabana comes back and lets loose on Cedric with some rights and the flying Apple. He decks Cedric with a clothesline for two.
Cabana hits a second flying apple for two, but Cedric takes advantage of the injured arm once again.
Cabana locks in the Billygoat’s curse with a slight variation for the submission victory.
After the match James Morgan and the rest of the Family Stone attack Cabana’s injured arm. Pearce runs in for the save and the show goes off the air.
Winner: Colt Cabana

I thoroughly enjoyed Ricker and Mack. The rest of the show was just there. Hopefully Marquez or somebody can clarify the stipulation in that match next week.

That’s all for this week, but I’ll be back next week to review another episode. Until then, my Twitter is always a-jumpin’ with wrestling-related talk.

  1. You’re right. I forgot to go back and change my mistake, despite catching it when i proofread the thing. I’ll be more careful in the future.
    Thanks for the heads-up.
