Wrestlemania 28 post by PainSindicate via Deviantart.com

It’s here, guys. Today is the day. After one hell of a ride, we can finally sit back and relax; we have reached the Promised Land. Later tonight, we will all surely be jumping right back to our feet in uncontrollable excitement. Finally, WrestleMania is here.

WrestleMania XXVIII is mere hours away, and it has thousands of wrestling fans giddy. From epic showdowns we’ll surely tell our grandkids about, to the battle of the two “Best in the World”, this event is loaded with potential show stealers. Add that to the immense hype this show has received, and WrestleMania XXVIII is arguably the most anticipated “Show of Shows” of all time. And with anticipation comes prediction.

That’s where I come in. Here and now, I will gaze into my crystal ball and potentially make a fool of myself—I’m predicting the winner of every match for tonight’s extravaganza.

Dark Match/YouTube Steam: Epico & Primo (c) vs. Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd vs. The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championship

The tag team division hasn’t been relevant for a long time, and I honestly only knew Epico and Primo were the champions because of Rosa Mendes shimmying during their entrance (Mamacita!). That said, I believe that the WWE sees something in the Usos and would like to strap the belts on them to get them noticed. In honor of their Hall of Fame family member Yokozuna, Jimmy and Jey will pick up their first WrestleMania win.

Predicted Winner: The Usos

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve

Anyone excited for this match? You know I am! I’m confident that Kelly and Maria will pick up the win (and Menounos will also do a cartwheel at some point), but as they say: you never know with Diva matches! I’ll be glued to my seat for this surefire classic!

Predicted Winners: Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos

Randy Orton vs. Kane

This match contains two wayward wrestlers. On one side we have Kane, who has struggled to find his way following his violent feud with John Cena that culminated at Elimination Chamber. On the other side is Randy Orton, who has also floundered following a successful feud with the currently injured Wade Barrett. While the angle hasn’t been very compelling, both of these men deserve a spot on the card at ‘Mania. These two men have styles that can either create a slow, lethargic snoozefest, or a fast paced, hard hitting matchup. I’m optimistic that we’ll get the latter, in a match where Randy Orton picks up the win. Be on the lookout for an RKO out of a Chokeslam!

Predicted Winner: Randy Orton

Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny (Winner gets their General Manager control of both shows)

This match could be a sleeper in terms of entertaining spots. Both sides have a very diverse array of talent, and I can see Booker T, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella putting on memorable performances at “The Granddaddy of them All.” Teddy Long’s team seems to have the momentum going in, adding Booker T to their team this past Monday. Team Johnny has a secret weapon with the name of Mark Henry, who has torn through anyone and everyone in his way. When all the high spots are through (Kofi Kingston needs to dive to the outside onto every competitor), I believe that Mark Henry will prove too powerful for the charisma of Team Teddy. I also believe he will get the win on Booker T, starting a feud between the two.

Predicted Winners: Team Johnny (Special prediction: Henry pins Booker T to win it.)

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Big Show for the Intercontinental Championship

These two have chemistry, and their interactions have thoroughly entertained me. Cody Rhodes has played the perfect heel, embarrassing Show at all costs and attacking him. Show’s sub-par WrestleMania record has been the focal point of this feud, and Cody Rhodes promises that the Giant will once again “take a Big Show” on the Grandest Stage. This feud has been another high point in Rhodes’s career, who has had a great run with the Intercontinental Championship. However, the WWE cannot keep burying the Big Show if they don’t want to completely strip him of his intimidation factor. I expect to see Big Show pick up the win here in a surprisingly good match with the talented Rhodes. A beat down by Cody after the match isn’t out of the question.

Predicted Winner: Big Show

Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship

Can you believe that Bryan Danielson is in one of the main events of WrestleMania? And that he’s the defending champion? Mind blowing. Unfortunately, I don’t see him winning here. The WWE is very high on Sheamus, who has become incredibly over as a babyface (not with me) and a great ambassador for the WWE. Do I predict a good match? Heck yes, I’ve watched them live and they have great in-ring chemistry. That combined with Bryan’s new heel persona should make for a fantastic match. But unfortunately, it’s practically written in the stars that Sheamus will win this one.

Predicted Winner: Sheamus

CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship

This is the match made in hardcore fan heaven. Both of these two claim to be the best in the world, and only one man can walk out with that title come tonight. These two have competed against each other before and have definitely impressed (Remember this?). These two both have knacks for putting on incredible matches, and both have shined before on the big stage. No matter who really is the best, both men strive to put on the best match of the night, every night. Tonight, with the lights on bright, these two will absolutely thrive in the opportunity to give us a match that we’ll never forget. Jericho’s slandering of Punk’s family in recent weeks only adds fuel to the impassioned fire.

With all the anticipation of how good the match will be, people seem to forget that there must be a winner! In a hard decision, I choose CM Punk. The WWE desperately owes him a historic WrestleMania moment after he set the wrestling world on fire last summer, and tonight he’ll get it.

Predicted Winner: CM Punk

Hell in a Cell: Triple H vs. The Undertaker w/ Shawn Michaels as guest referee

The history in this match alone is enough to write a book about. All three men have practically built this cell, and now the cell could possibly destroy them all. This match could be the end of an era, they’re saying. While I highly doubt that these three men will disappear forever after they leave the cell, it could very well be the last we see of them for a while. I expect an insanely compelling match, with loads of swerves, near falls and Superkicks. More than once, we’ll think the streak is over. More than once, we’ll think there is no way the Deadman can pin The Game… but of course, he will. And it will be a hellacious, historic match.

Predicted Winner: The Undertaker

John Cena vs. The Rock

This is what you’ve been waiting for. Two of the most popular and controversial stars in the long history of the WWE will clash in front of thousands of screaming fans and millions watching all over the world. In one of the most heated, authentic, and hyped feuds in recent memory, John Cena and The Rock are set to create images that will last a lifetime. No matter whom the winner is, this match is destined to be iconic and synonymous with the word WrestleMania. The intensity should be off the charts and the drama should nearly stop our hearts. The thing that draws me the most to this match is that absolutely everyone has an opinion, everyone has a favorite. The crowd has the potential to create an amazing atmosphere, and these men need to feed off of their energy.

This match is so hard to predict that I have switched my choice 1000 times over. On one hand, The Rock is a massive draw; the WWE might not want to have such a huge money maker lose in such an immensely hyped match. On the other hand, John Cena has stayed with the company through thick and thin; you just can’t see the WWE making their top guy lose in such a high profile match. Add in the possibility of a rematch, and my head is spinning!

I can’t make the decision on my own. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a Cena by his toe.

Predicted Winner: John Cena

I hope my predictions fare well, but I won’t be angry if they fall flat. It’s WrestleMania, baby! Surprise me!

Feel free to leave your comments below, and leave some predictions of your own.  Happy WrestleMania, everyone! Enjoy it!

  1. Very nice column for what should be a great night. I see Bryan retaining over Sheamus & Jericho beating Punk. Also I think it’s Show’s time to get his WM moment so I’ll go w/ him over Cody for the IC title(hopefully bigger & better things for the improving Cody) Rock v Cena I’m waivering on but I definitely WANT Cena to win(never been a member of Cenation) but will be tonight. I think Orton has to go over Kane, Team Johnny beats Team Teddy(Laurinatis is just has too much heat right now to end that) Finally I think it HAS to be 20-0 for Taker tonight. Wait, I forgot the divas match? But i’m out of time…What there’s no time limit for responses? Ok I just don’t care.
