PWG is notorious for constantly changing the card due to injuries, drunkenness, missed flights and possibly aliens.  The title of the show “Failure to Communicate” may be apropos in some slight ironic way.  The card for this show was announced about four weeks ago.  Now its five days before the show and the card is completely shuffled all due to one major addition, KENNY OMEGA!  Some fans may not know, or some fans will know now, the card has changed again in PWG which may or not be a failure to communicate.

Here was the original card listed for about 4 Weeks:

PWG World TitleThree WayMatch: Kevin Steen© vs. Michael Elgin vs. Ricochet

Grudge Match: Willie Mack vs. Brian Cage

Tag Challenge: The Young Bucks vs. Roderick Strong and Eddie Edwards

Singles Challenge: Davey Richards vs. Sami Callihan

Singles Debut: El Generico vs. Rich Swann

Tag Challenge: B-Boy and Famous B vs. The RockNES Monsters

Singles Challenge: Joey Ryan vs. Ryan Taylor

Things have changed.  Five matches have stayed the same while the card now has three completely different matches with a wrestler not named Kevin Steen wrestling twice on the card. Thank you PWG for pulling out of the stops to make each show the best show possible, especially with the last minute addition.

Singles Challenge: Joey Ryan vs. Ryan Taylor

I’m curious to find out whether this match will make the DVD considering Joey Ryan is TNA’s hot new property.  Maybe it’s time to phase Joey out and let him do his thing in TNA and be a silent partner, for now at least.  If TNA doesn’t work out, which is probably a fifty-fifty chance, he can always comeback.  It might be better in the long run for Taylor to get the win over a former PWG World champ and BOLA winner. Taylor has done nothing since he stopped teaming with Brian Cage and this would best chance for him to step up and prove he’s not some opening card guy.  Or maybe Joey goes out on top because he’s Joey Ryan.  I’ll take a gamble and go with an upset.

Winner: Ryan Taylor

Tag Challenge: The RockNES Monsters vs. B-Boy and Famous B

It’s the B-Team versus the newly heeled RockNES Monsters.  RockNES defeated the Taylor Boys of Chuck and Ryan at Threemendous Three and look to continue their momentum towards a tag title shot at The Super Smash Brothers possibly at the December 1st show or the first show of 2013.  B-Boy and Famous are sort of mix and match kind of team and B-Boy is notorious for that in PWG.  This will be a great way to get the RockNES Monsters over as top contenders for the belts and finally get their second shot at the PWG World Tag Team Titles.

Winner: The RockNES Monsters

Singles Challenge: Davey Richards vs. Sami Callihan

Their match in AAW was fantastic.  I can only hope that the PWG will take this to a whole other level.  These two guys are known for constantly trying to steal the show and trying to kill their opponent by nearly killing themselves.  The crowd is going to be in for an intense, emotion roller coaster ride filled with disgusting kicks, stiff forearms, painful submissions and DANGEROUS near falls.  This match is going to be epic.  I’m not even sure I can pick a winner.  If I’m picking based on long term booking, Sami needs the win here over an established PWG guy in order to finally accepted as PWG guy and go after Steen or Cole or Ricochet orElginor whoever holds the PWG World Title.  PWG made Richards and Richards seems like he’s giving younger guys the rub to get them over.  Davey was pinned by both Michael Elgin and Willie Mack over BOLA weekend and here I think he might be doing the same.  Sami is super over with PWG crowd receiving this crazy emotional reaction each time he steps through the curtain.

Winner: Sami Callihan

Grudge Match: Willie Mack vs. Brian Cage

It’s nice to see a singles feud in PWG that isn’t Kevin Steen vs. El Generico.  These two guys started feuding with each other while feuding with Kevin Steen for the PWG World Title.  It started with Brian Cage receiving a shot at the title at Death to All But Metal in losing effort to Steen and wanted another shot.  During Mack’s title match at Threemendous Three, Cage attacked both men while the referee was down during a crucial point in the match where Mack had the upper hand.  Everyone thought they would face off at some point during BOLA and it didn’t happen.  Mack was eliminated in the first round to Sami Callihan while Cage was eliminated in the quarter finals against Elgin due to Steen’s interference.  Both men want another shot at Steen and Willie Mack still wants revenge for Threemendous Three.  Mack needs to bounce back from his first round BOLA loss and I think he’ll do here while getting payback at the same time.

Winner: Willie Mack

Now here come the changes.

Michael Elgin vs. Eddie Edwards

Edwards was scheduled to team with Roderick Strong to face the Young Bucks.  Due to the card changes, Michael Elgin has elected to wrestle twice in the same night, just as Steen has done.  He still receives his shot in the PWG World Title three way match which will still main event the show.  The smart thing to do would putElgin over looking like threat to Steen’s reign, yet he receives his title shot when he’s not 100%.  Thus it sets up another future singles title shot at Steen.  It wouldn’t make sense for Edwards to beat a title contender and the person he beats gets a title shot that night.  It worked at Wrestlemania X but it probably won’t work here.

Winner: Michael Elgin

Singles Challenge: Roderick Strong vs. Rich Swann

Swann was originally set to debut against El Generico in an indy dream match but PWG will now have to wait to put that match on, but it will happen.  This is now an INTERPROMOTIONAL-indy dream match.  ROH vs DGUSA.  Strong is known for working well with small high flyers and this should be no exception.  His match with Ricochet at BOLA was great and this should fit the same formula.  Swann has gotten so much better since touring with Dragon Gate and a memorable singles match against Roderick Strong in probably a one time only match may due good things for Swann’s career.  But, I don’t think at upset will occur though.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Tag Team Grudge Match Nearly 3 Years in the Making:

El Generico and KENNY OMEGA vs. The Young Bucks

When Kenny Omega became the people’s champ of PWG in late 2009, he was the odds on favorite to win BOLA 2009 and the vacant PWG World Title.  He did to the crowd’s delight only to lose it in his first defense against Davey Richards in February 2010.  When he won BOLA, the Bucks came out and attacked him and Omega never got revenge for that.  It was also due to Kenny Omega and his then tag partner Chuck Taylor being so over with the crowd at DDT4 2009 that it forced the Bucks to turn heel which they’ve remained ever since.  In a way, Kenny Omega was partially responsible for turning the Young Bucks and refreshing their careers.  So in a way this is a payback, thank you tag grudge with El Generico.  Generico was put in this match due to his past history with Omega and his on again, off again feud with the Young Bucks.  For one night only, Kenny Omega is back in Reseda.  And what other outcome would there be?

Winners: El Generico and Kenny Omega

PWG World Title Three-Way Match: Kevin Steen(c) vs. Ricochet vs. Michael Elgin

The reasoning for this match is simple.  Ricochet pinned Steen in the first round of BOLA automatically making him the #1 contender.  Ricochet would go on to lose to Michael Elgin in the semi finals, essentially beating the #1 contender.  Steen wants to eliminate each contender in order to finally get payback for the nut shot at title theft by Adam Cole at BOLA.  Once Steen gets Elgin and Ricochet out of the way, he wants Adam Cole.  With Elgin wrestling twice in the same night, it’s seems like a setup for Elgin to receive a one on one title shot down the line.  I think Steen wins here pinning Ricochet getting his win back from BOLA.  I’m hoping due to how epic I’ve heard Steen and Elgin’s match was in ROH, that this match might be a sleeper match of the year candidate.  Maybe 20-25 minutes of storytelling instead of a 15 minute sprint?  Either way it should be awesome.

Winner: Kevin Steen

And that’s the whole card.  There is also some breaking news that the final PWG show of the year will be on December 1st with Drake Younger, The Super Smash Brothers and Adam Cole already signed for that event.  And next month there will be two brand new DVD compilations!  PWG Sells Out Vol. 3 and The Many Adventures of El Generico!  Links to those two are right here:
